But that money could be the difference in having to cut or retain a guy more important to the team.
We keep a backup for our center/guards - He's played 35 snaps - we've paid him $11MM the past two seasons.

With the impending housecleaning in DC, Jacoby Brissett will be available, unless some desperate team sees him as a starter until a rookie is ready to play. With the love Buffalo showed Andy Dalton a few years back, he would be a great backup to Josh.

Take one in the first round -- the Bills haven't DRAFTED a receiver in the 1st round in forever -- Sammy Watkins 2014
2nd Round - Zay Jones 2017 - Bobby Trees 2013 - Marquise Goodwin 2013 (R3)

In his career, Josh is 10-2 vs. the Fish. The Clay drop and the heatstroke game are the only blemishes.

That 1964 team has 5 players in the HOF, Jim Brown, Paul Warfield, Leroy Kelly, Lou Groza, and Gene Hickerson.

The silver lining with having to play Bernard and trade for Douglas is that next year we'll have Bernard, Milano, White and Douglas, plus Benford
I'm not sure after back to back years with an ACL and an Achilles, that White will ever again be an NFL quality CB1. Our three starting CB's Douglas, T. Johnson and Benford are the highest graded trio in the league - Bills & Jets are only teams to have all 3 CB starters in the top 20.
My biggest concern is DL & Edge - Inigo Montoya has an excellent post today about this on the site.

Douglas turns 30 at the start of the 2024 season, so I don't know if it's wise to extend him beyond that? It doesn't look as if they're giving up on Elam either.
Douglas is playing at a high level at CB. I had seen some talk on the GB board that they thought with his size and tackling ability, he might spend the last couple of years of his career at FS.

I'm just worried that Diggs has met Father time.
1st 6 games this year 49 catches, 66 targets, 74.2% catch rate 12.65 yards per catch
Last 10 games this year 51 catches, 81 targets, 59.3% catch rate 9.33 yards per catch
Last 10 games are the longest stretch of his Bills career without a 100 yard game.

Against Miami, Bills need to score TD's after turnovers in the other team's end. Pats game was 27-21, should have been 35-21.

Instead of paying ST players who rarely make a tackle, find a guy about 7'6" that drags his knuckles when he walks to block FG and XP attempts. Just tell him to stand there, raise his arms and if he can get an inch or two of air, all the better.
Spencer Brown is 6'8+ with 34+ inch arms, and a 31 inch vertical - may already have That kick blocker on the roster.

A fascinating player in the draft is Oronde Gadsden II. He's 6-5 225, but runs a 4.5. Obviously has good bloodlines and was coached in HS by Patrick Surtain. Know his dad played for the Fish, but that could be an interesting weapon for Josh. Started out as a WR and supposedly has solid ball skills.

Yet Josh has outperformed Purdy.
If Josh was playing with Deebo, Aiyuk, McCaffrey, Kittle, and with Trent Williams for protection, he wouldn't have to be superman.

Douglas is tied for 4th in the league for INT's; Top 5 in CB PFF grades. Wonder if the trade keeps him under the radar?

We need a John Brown type. If you have a 4.3 guy who can take the top off a defense and has reasonable ball skills, then Diggs, Shakir, Kincaid all become more effective. Diggs is 30, an age when most wide receivers start to decline or have to deal with Injuries - see Keenan Allen, Mike Evans, Amari Cooper, and of late Tyreek Hill.

We need four new WRs next year.
I would keep Diggs, Shakir is here, and on a cheap contract. I don't think we are going to be drafting high enough to get one of the "elite" WR's. Beyond that we need 3 journeymen, given our cap issues. Hoping Kincaid continues his growth, as he gives Josh a bit of a cheat code.

Is anyone else having their screen break up, mine's been doing it the whole game

Benford lost his pants on that one

Ought to be a team option for better field position when there is a delay of game called during an unsuccessful play.

That last Detroit drive gave me [not good] flashbacks to several of our games this year. Was getting to the point - How will we lose this time.

I love it - is there any other player in the NFL that changes the map like that?
I am also surprised that's there's not an Allen island in the Fresno area when the Niners aren't on at the same time.

Definitely---Josh is #9 in QB knockdowns, tied for 5th in QB hurries and tied for 34th in time in the pocket.
Almost any other QB behind this line would be taking a much bigger beating. Josh makes them look pretty good.
Bills have given up 20 sacks on the season which is best in the league. They have recorded 50 sacks, which is 3rd in the league.
Top five teams in net sacks are: Bills, +30; Dolphins,+25;Chiefs, +23; Ravens, +18; 49ers, +15 - these are all top teams.

Add to them with dion O for the snowplow! I’ve always wondered why you wouldn’t use the players this way. Serious question… a snow plow package on O that uses the big boyz.

San Antonio/Austin [The Metropolitan areas abut - 5 MM people] would likely love to have them, but suspect Jerrah would never allow that.
