Does it bother you in Tom Brady (8.1), Pat Mahomes (7.7), and Aaron Rodgers (3 unless he's playing in The Match, then it's 10)?

Nope. Josh can take whatever break from football he wants to as far as I'm concerned. I'm just not big on golf lol.

The one thing about Legette is he had a lot of manufactured screens and plays to get him in space with the ball. Something to consider

Fair, but it's worth recalling that those (1) still take up a share of a finite amount of offensive plays/QB targets, and (2) he's such a physical presence during RAC that they wanted to manufacture touches for him.

Lately, I've been guessing that we're targeting Thomas with a small trade-up, or Mitchell at 28, or very close to it.

But interesting that Joe Marino prefers Legette to Thomas. So does @GunnerBill

I do too. I know I know, I'm a big voice in this room.

  4. I will root for whoever we get because I'm a Bills fan. Right now, here's how i'm feeling about some of the first round WR prospects:

    Excited about:

    MHJ

    Nabers

    Odunze

    Legette

    Uncertain:

Thomas Jr (higher in this category)

    Franklin (higher in this category)

    Mitchell (lowest in this category)

    Not who I'd choose:

    Worthy

    Coleman

Some names after the first round who id be excited about include McConkey (could easily go in first), Wilson, Pearsall, Thrash, Rice (it wouldn't surprise me if we're high on him; good size and blocking ability+willingness)...

A very exciting draft. It's been awhile since I've been as eager for it to arrive.

Gabe Davis wasn't a great separator. He got open but just dropped passes

You're right, he wasn't. But it was a huge issue and wasn't just the dropped passes.

He DOESN'T DROP PASSES. That's been ONE of Josh's problems, dropped passes

I know it, but Josh is also far more effective with separators than contested ball specialists. Coleman can be a good player and not be ideal for JA.

It was way more than one kick.   He was extremely undependable the last half of the season.  Even his kick in the opener against the Jets that sent the game to overtime was a boink off the post.

And it was clear the coaches didn't trust him. We were coaching around his kicking. He has to be significantly better than last year or it's going to cost us.

    So hypothetically we’re looking at:

    1. Nabers for Pick 28, 2024 4th rounder, 2025 1st round, 2025 2nd round

    2. Odunze for pick 28, 2024 4th rounder, 2025 1st rounder

    3. Thomas Jr for pick 28, 4th rounder, 2025 2nd rounder

    4. stay put at 28 and take Mitchell, Franklin, Worthy, Leggette, or McConkey

    5. trade pick 28 and a 4th for Aiyuk

    6. trade pick 60 and 2025 2nd rounder for Metcalf

    7. trade pick 28 and next years 1st for Higgins

    8. trade back from pick 28, pick up an extra 3rd and probably pick from the same group in scenario 4 except maybe mitchell and double up on WR in 3rd or 4th round

#3 is a big overpay - I hope we don't do that. 5/6/7 get us in a salary situation that I think Beane is hesitant to sign up for.

Interesting, any perspective on why you think Thomas will slide and/or not be 4th off the board?  I was watching tape of him last night, salivating at the thought of Josh throwing to him.  Seemed like he would take Gabe’s role instantly but be way more dangerous.

Not enough evidence of a whole route tree.

I don't know why you're spooked over Thomas Jr or Mitchell.  I think they're both going to be solid receivers.  Guys like Worthy, Franklin & Coleman are the ones that worry me. Trading up in the 2nd round for Legette or McConkey would be amazing. Then sign M. Thomas to a cheap 1 yr deal. I think BB Gospel 2014 has a solid scenario.

It's hard to be mad at Thomas Jr. provided we don't pay a premium to move up for him (more than a 4th on top of swapping firsts). But his tape is way too heavy on a single fly route, and he hasn't shown much else in the few games where he seemed to be asked to do more. Amazing physical traits, but he's far from a lock to me. Id be just as happy with legette, and if we can get him without moving up so much the better. Neither of the Texas receivers' tape gives me confidence in them. It's a crap shoot and I'm no guru, but it's just how I feel after finally getting around to watching all their targets.
