  1. I was thinking that we might do something new to our logo. While we know we'll still have the charging buffalo, I wonder if they made it more aggressive (a la cardinals/lions). The logo is basically the same, with a few updates. While this wouldn't inherently be a bad thing, I have my doubts as to how well the Bills would carry out such an update, and hope/expect that the logo remains unchanged.

EDIT: I'm also not reading into a website modification.

  2. Just for the hell of it, I completely concur with the below statement:

    Gailey has endured ....

criticism from people who are looking for a scapegoat to dump the miserable state of affairs on. It has taken many years and many bad moves by persons other than Gailey to put the team where it is.

I was unhappy when Gailey was announced as head coach, but he has won me over. I think he is the right coach to turn the Bills around. Call me crazy, but I think there are more than a few fans who feel the way I do. Also, last year's draft was not awful, even if Spiller didn't produce (hopefully he turns it around this year).

Am I just a homer, incapable of recognizing "bad moves" by our beloved organization? No. In fact, I am often quite pessimistic about the Bills, but Chan Gailey and his tenure so far have me believing that our team could be on the right track.

  3. I actually doubt that OBD is going to make this pick, its such a clearly bad pick with so much risk and so little upside over what you can get later in the draft any professional worth their salt wouldn't make that pick.

    This made me chuckle.

  4. I'd argue that Denver is an elitist, liberal city, and they see guys like Tebow as some sort of bible thumping conservative from the hillbilly regions of Florida and that's stuck.

Not at all the case. I lived in Denver for years (up until last year), and I can tell you the views its citizens hold are not inline with your thinking. Also, Tebow is idolized in colorado, those fans ADORE him.

Really? I caught them all (his starts, not the Raiders game) and I was really impressed. I knew he had a strong arm but he made some throws on the move that only a young Brett Favre and Vick could make. He moved in the pocket extremely well too. His deep ball accuracy is also top notch (it was in college too) but his short and mid rang stuff isnt great. That should be easier to fix.

Wow, hard to believe we watched the same games haha. Well, what are ya gonna do, to each their own, we saw very different things out on the field. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if he succeeds, but I also wouldn't be surprised if he's just mediocre for a couple years then falls into a backup role somewhere.

  5. As much as i think Ponder will be better than Gabbert, I have to agree with a few posters on here that 34 is a bit high for him. I think that several qbs will fall into the third. What I'd really like to see is a defensive draft (although i'd like an OT, perhaps at 34) until the 5th when we take ricky stanzi. USA #1.

Couple of Vids from NFL.com showing Steve Mariucci school the two Quarterbacks.

I really don't know. I think Gabbert isn't a top 10 QB in my opinion. I really think Ponder is the better of the two. Ponder in the second baby!

If we take a quarterback this year, I want it to be ponder in the 2nd. (I'd love it to be in the third, but not sure he falls that far).

I never called you condescending or boorish, and was under the assumption that all of my posts were civil. I thought we were having "reasonable discourse." I understand that you are responding to many posters who disagree or take umbrage with your initial post, so I assume that some of those remarks were not directed at me.

My "teasing" comment wasn't a personal attack, I was just surprised at your choice of words ("style over substance"), after you acknowledged the 'not mutually exclusive' point/statements. I hope you didn't take it as such.

I don't view this as a win/lose game, I just enjoy talking about the Bills. I hope no one actually insinuated that you needed to apologize for anything?

    EDIT:

i still find no reason to be excited about a uniform change.

It just boils down to our disagreement over this, obviously :) . Agree to disagree. I'm excited to have (hopefully) better looking/more classic Bills jerseys than the current ones. You're not excited, and that's fine. Go Bills.

  8. surprised by how excited fans were in regards to what is essentially a style over substance change.

Though I, along with many of the posters, have pointed out that getting new uniforms and achieving substantive change on the football field are not mutually exclusive, you continue to make remarks like this. Yes, the uniform change is a stylistic change. It is not, however, style over substance. If that were the case, this uniform change would take the place of any attempts to get better during this offseason.

Apparently you don't like the uniform change, fair enough. I know that as a writer, especially one that goes on public record, you're going to make your argument and have every right to back it up. That's a good thing, and adds to what makes this forum great. At this point, however, you're just teasing us. You know that a changed uniform has no impact on what the Bills will do to get better. It will neither help them nor hurt them in any significant manner.

I'm happy the Bills are changing uniform designs. I want the Bills to improve on the field even more.

Hope you stick around, I have enjoyed many of your posts in the past.

  9. DraftTek is going to use their Draft Lab to simulate a trade each week. One of the two scenarios involves the 49ers sending picks 7, 45, and 107 to Buffalo for pick 3. San Fran is targeting CB Peterson/Amukamara. Over forty percent of the votes in our discussion went to this scenario (the other one with just under 40% was Cardinals sending picks 5 & 69 to the Eagles for QB Kolb).

Would you pull the trigger on the Bills-SF trade?

    Absolutely.

  10. The problem with the logo on the jersey is that its asymmetrical. Have you ever seen the cheapo walmart bills jerseys? they have the logo as a chest patch just under the collar and it looks horrible. I wouldn't want it on the sleeves or shoulders either because its already on the sides of the helmet, and having it again a few inches lower makes the profile too redundant IMO. If they want to brand the jersey somehow, I think the best way to do it would be to have a small patch under the collar that says Bills in the block letter font the team uses.

For those who missed the above link:

Ladies and gentlemen, our long national nightmare is over.

Confession: I’ve known about this change since early December, when a little birdie told me about it but swore me to secrecy. So if anyone recently spotted me with a big smile on my face for no particular reason, now you know why.

Everyone wants to know what the new threads will look like. I don’t have any visuals, but I do have a description from the little birdie, which he’s willing to share now that the Bills have gone public with the news. So here it is — a Uni Watch exclusive:

These new Bills uniforms are clearly modeled after the later Simpson-era design, including the white helmet, but they’ve been updated to include a tiny amount of navy blue trim.

    The "later Simpson-era" design: http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5258/5430804953_ff52f915ca_o.png

I'm trying to imagine a navy trim, but I just can't imagine in on the home jerseys. Maybe it's only on the white pants/away jersey. Food for thought.

  12. trying to remember when they announced the throwbacks at a similar event. jp losman jumping around….i want to say it was at SJF training camp.

Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part to imagine them being released prior to the draft. As we have the 3rd pick though, I was under the impression that we might want to give our top pick (if he is invited to the draft) a new uniform.

  13. if they wore pink and won the Super Bowl, would that be acceptable? just wondering. ...

    jw

I don't care what they're wearing if they win the Super Bowl. Given the choice, I'd prefer a classic Bills uniform in this hypothetical scenario in which where the Bills win the Super Bowl. Not given this choice, I'd still die a happy man as the Bills, in electric pink duds, will have won the Super Bowl.

I fail to see how being excited that our beloved Bills are changing uniforms from the current ones that are disliked almost unanimously is not understandable.

  14. see, i always figured it was the players in the uniform, not the uniforms themselves. call me ol' fashioned.

    jw

I think it goes without saying that any Bills fan would undoubtedly prefer a better Bills football team than a new uniform. However, as they're not mutually exclusive, changing from our current/awful uniforms is reason to be excited/interested in my book.
