  1. It's a lot more complex then this, sadly. The state laws were not always honored in smaller communities, etc. This is not the place nor time to get into it.
  2. Good job on losing weight.
  3. Did you see the small indentions in the old bricks? Almost like finger prints? Those were from the slave children who at 4-5-6 and up had to turn bricks as they set. Regardless, that was just 1 example of what went on in NYC. Slavery continued in the north even after the civil war began and ended. History, and what we learn of it, is weird.
  4. No one expects Carr or Jones to succeed. So they're not exactly underdogs. Rodgers earned his money by past play. Jackson did everything he could to manipulate his play and the he and the team had choices that could have averted the overpaying
  5. If it's as frustrating as putt putt; the slow wait 20 minutes between the operation, etc then i can't take it seriously. It would be just a hobby with friends, and then I just couldn't motivate myself to care or spend the money. Not trying to be a stick in the mud. I just can't even bring myself to try. 🤮
  6. i'd be so tempted to play the clap song as we drove. i bet mcdermott talked about mma the whole time.
  7. i would appreciate the exertion, surely. i walk 3-4 miles at llunch every day. take a 1-2 mile walk every evening with the family. mountain bike weekly 15ish+ miles. exercise 6 days a week for 90 minutes. swim laps at least once a week. with 30 minutes of yoga/mobility a night. the time to learn to golf would take away from this just to walk to my ball 3 hit errantly from the tee. i burn 3,500-4000 calories a day, 1500-2000 in activity a day. pre back injury i included running 40 miles a week with a 14-16 mile run on sunday mornings. prebaby i climbed twice a week, as well.
  8. Christian okoye running through anyone. Backing your QB up to your end zone then throwing a hail Mary to the other EZ for a TD.
  9. I have always wanted to get into it but also can't stand it and get bored with even putt putting. It's not exerting enough, distracting enough, and too slow. I don't think I'll ever appreciate it. To me it's like fishing: a waste of time. This post isn't to degrade or insult it - just express my frustration that it is something I'd like to try, get into, experience but cannot.

    2023 Concerts

Same conversation had today. Every month I go through acts coming to the area and decide if there are any I want to keep my eyes on. If the venue/artist/price/distance all meet the equation then I'll go. Boy George is coming to a smaller underground club venue. I forget the day of the week, and it's an hour away. But, if the tickets are $30 and I have nothing else to do id consider it because I'm sure it's a fun show and I get to sign kama-kama-kama-kama-kama-kama-kama-kama-kama-kama-kama-kama-kama-kama-kama-kama-kama-kama-chameleon in person. I forge the act a coworker and I are considering - I saved it on my work scheduler - but it's at a LiveNation location. So I will keep my eye on it. The day of the concert ant unsold tickets (usually there are a hundred or so) are listed for $20 as an upgrade. It's a few hidden clicks to get there on the app but it's worth it. I have talked about it many times. I saw REO Speedwagon & Chicago, The Pixies & Weezer, 30STM, Willie Nelson, Sturgle Simplson, and Elvis Costello this way. I got the upgrade before the actual tickets many times. Id wait until just before the show and buy lawn seats for dirt cheap ($12 for Weezer) and with the pit upgrade ($30) I spent a fraction of the $200 face value, $300 markup ticket. I share this because you can really catch some great shows this way. Including lesser known, less popular acts. Erasure, Pop Evil for example. You can also catch big time acts doing side gigs when touring on a big tour. Marilyn Manson in a venue of 1000 people, and Angels And Airwaves Tom DeLongs side gig for a while. Manson was doing shows with Rob Zombie on weekends and on a Wednesday went to a small ass place, DeLong had booked like 6 shows that year. I can walk you through it if you want. Just text me some time. Sometimes that's the best concert. In fact, I've heard Rumors (the Fleetwood Mack cover band) is just as good. And there are two Chicago cover bands just as good. Chicago is lame in person. They don't play all of their greatest hits. They play some. The cover band plays them all, just as good and just as fun. And Chicago these days only has like 3 original members anyway. Oh, another fun band to see is the Marshall Tucker Band
  11. Yeah. So. Are you giving up? Come on Augie. You're not going to quit now, are you?!?
  12. I had some wild idea from.the beginning that this q-anon crap was a Democratic strategy operation. It'd make a hell of a lot of good sense to expose the hysteria of any group of people.
  13. If we can still get DHop, tho it'll really help! We can't give up on that just yet.
  14. Funny you say this. NC drivers are summed up earlier in the thread in a way. They're distracted and slow. They drive all lanes at the same speed. They respect the laws and get pissed at.not using blinkers for 5 minutes & driving but drive like old betties. They won't get out of the lane if they're backing up traffic. NY, PA, NJ... Pretty much anyone from the North East owns drivers down here. Texas, Maryland, Michigan are often the fastest drivers I see here. Driving the Autobahn then coming home to drive here will make you infuriated. You just stay clogged up and the Germans tell me it is so easy to drive here because "you don't have to pay attention.". 🤮 I've seen cops pull over people backing up traffic in NY. It's glorious. Wish they would here.
  15. Why are you blaming the actor of the movie for the contents? As pointed out... are we avoiding Sean Pean movies because he beat up Madonna? Are we not going to watch movies with Spacey because he's a weirdo creep? Why is this single movie getting raked so heavily without anyone finding a factual error in it? The closest is that it may overstate the situation; regardless of 1 victim being too many. It's just a red herring the media is using to generate clicks, the talking heads are speaking out about to have their voice heard, and the politicians to speak to their following etc. We indulge ourselves in movies like Taken being dramatic action packed kick ass. We laugh at some rather crude humor in Animal House. ... But ...this movie is getting headlines and this treatment? Why? ...because people are sheep and thinking it matters. And someone said something and then someone else said something. Now it's what people choose to talk about as if it actually has value or importance. It doesn't. It is art. If you like it watch it. If you don't, don't.
  16. It was abysmal And I couldn't believe they still had Ray Lewis on all their hype videos.
  17. I was at this game. Iirc it was DiMarco or another FB who they cut the week before and had to leave him off the roster to make the $$ work. It was a joke of an experience with Rex Ryan coaching and the entire era. I was so livid at the play calling and piss poor performance I yelled a colorful stream of exploitives that got the nearby ravens fans laughing. And some fat Baltimore dude wanted to fight me. His wife made him leave before that happened. She was smart. Edit. I remember it. "rex, you're as stupid as you are fat." After deciding to go for it on a 4th and stupid or something.
  18. Yes I did. And of course it's a dog whistle. To list the bad they have to gloss over the good reviews. The article is spun negatively in a non-bias lens That cavezilemtions q-anon outside of the movie doesn't have relevance to the movie, as well. The media, specifically USA Today and ownership are extremely bias and dangerous media. They've shut down thousands of local newspapers/reporters.

    2023 Concerts

Friend of mine went to Blink 182. Said the show was just great. Nostalgic. The women all dressed like it was 98, and the men a mix but plenty of 40 something yr old dads just vibing. They finished with a mashup of Damn It/We are never getting back together (Taylor swift). It was a highlight.
  20. First, the USA Today newspaper is a pretty low end tabloid. Its topical approach and overall effect to local news, specifically through its parent company have ruined community communication bases. 2nd, I have not read one single review of the movie that doesn't leap to call it a right wing propaganda situation, or link "q-anon" etc. 3rd, it should be clear that critics are morons paid to stir emotions like Cowherd. They're not honest or living in a world of regular people. These same people praised Cuties or for its bravery and called it a great movie. They hated Hillbillyollogy and clowned on it for being too fake. The same people that praised Concussion and the little Mermaid remake as historic movies. This is being made into something to make something of it. Plain and simple. It's a movie that shines a light on a real problem. It doesn't need a message, to be a symbol, or some sort of characterization of its deeper meaning. If these media types truly wanted to make it go away, they wouldn't cover it. They only ended up covering it because they were forced to by its popularity of the people - and when they covers it they are taking a massive ***** on it just because they hate the people who like the things they don't. For the record I never saw cuties, I won't see this movie, either.
  21. 99 - gabe northern returning that field goal for a TD in Phili was amazing tho
  22. Funny. I use this same excuse to judge New York and never wanting to go. one of 50000 id never want to go to NYC. Just too many people mostly. Send me to Wyoming or Montana.
