  1. those are fair points. although i suppose i could say it was LEACH who destroyed the locker room by giving that kid a soapbox because of his OWN stupidity. in any event, he sounds like a guy who thought he was bigger than the program, which is almost never the case. every coach is replaceable and there is no reason tech has to fade into obscurity just because leach is gone. if anything he proved even a nutjob could win there!
  2. correction..."WAS" doing it right until he let his massive ego get the best of him and cause him to do something stupid. and remember, my point all along is that he was really stupid, not that he's a criminal or a child abuser. but his bad judgment turned his own team against him.
  3. "player development?" how are you helping player development by putting one disrespectful athlete in a position of power by treating him even more disrespectfully? now instead of alienating 1 kid, you have alienated him and all his buddies on the team! how does that help player development? why do you think all those TCU kids were quoted as saying they supported the decision and they feel better now that leach is gone? either this guy is not the leader he is cut out to be, or he has sold his soul to the devil by recruiting a whole bunch of low-character prima donnas who don't undertand his own peculiar brand of "tough love." either way he's proven that he's not the right guy to be the face of that program.
  4. i feel bad for you if you had to hate your coach to be good at your sport. it doesn't have to be that way. i'm not talking about holding hands and singing songs at practice. i'm talking about motivating people with the strength of your character....you know...all that **** that marv was supposed to be so good at. and i know marv had his flaws, but that was something he did really well. there is such a thing as college kids who avoid doing "whatever they CAN get away with" because they want to be good...and the results will speak for their work ethic anyway. you don't have to treat kids like crap and humiliate them to get them to do what you want.
  5. of course discipline can help...who said there shouldn't be discipline? you have to be a little more intelligent than mike leach in how you enforce it. i can't believe this is even an argument. on what planet is getting into a pissing match with a 20 year old good coaching?
  6. it's just that if i am drunk singing in a stadium, the only song i want it to be is SHOUT!
  7. i told you i coach college kids. and i've had a-holes like that...i got my own stories and i'm not getting into a pissing contest with you about that. you make them irrelevant by replacing them and being the adult. it's not that hard. if you're the unquestioned leader of your program, you don't let a punk like that get power over you by pushing your buttons. let him sit there like a tool with his sunglasses while you win with his backup.
  8. i hated neil diamond when my mom made me hear his lame-ass songs in the 70s. why would i like him now?
  9. i will laugh my ass off if i see that one...
  10. and how did that work? did you guys all lose 40lb and win the state title that year? yes i did play 3 sports past 9th grade.. and i've been coaching for 23 years now...13 years at the college level... and i got news for you....the 70s are over... there is a big difference between having a "right" to do somethineg like that to a kid and having it be the right thing to do. it's just stupid and disrespectful. if you think a kid is faking an injury you play his back up...everyone will get the message. trying to out-!@#$ a 20 year old kid just shows bad judgment.
  11. the point is that instead of dealing with him like an adult with character, he chose to embarrass him in front of his teammates. HE SHOULD BEEN FIRED ON THE STUPIDITY OF IT ALONE.
  12. cowart is the most underrated linebacker in bills history imo...but yeah those are so "ok" first round picks. the rest of the rounds are what led to the slow decline. i'm sure butler would look like a genius if we hadn't had polian before him.
  13. which is douchier? dennis leary or that song? i enjoy the outdoor games, though.
  14. you must have the 93-00 drafts confused with the 86-93 drafts. i'd say 93-00 was eminently average. and i don't think Butler was the genius some here make him out to be...
  15. 10-0...I am no OSU fan, but I hope they kick Nike University's ass.
  16. for what? having a concussion or complaining about being confined to a shed?
  17. exactly...because they know damn well they didn't do what they told the fans they were going to do...which was to do an actual search for a GM. it's such horse ****.
  18. so you're telling me that ralph hired him 10 months ago with the pitch that "for now you're just a scout, but if you do really good i'll let you be the GM next year when this whole "continuity" thing blows up in my face...but for now, the russ/dick thing is going so well, that we'll just stick with it"? with his stupendous pedigree, if he was such a great hire last year as a 69 year old scout and "exactly the guy we've needed around here for a long long time," why wasn't he named the gm then?? why did the bills need to let him sit around for a year before giving him this job? you think he needed to watch these clowns !@#$ up another season so he could be more qualified? if you need to twist this around in your head to convince yourself ralph knows what he's doing, that's your prerogative, but there's really no objective reason to. ralph is still clueless. as a matter of fact, the only really sensible thing he said yesterday was that he needed some luck.
  19. you completely missed the point. this hire was the furthest thing possible from the "exhaustive" search we were promised! "we made a list, but we didn't really know those guys very well so we interviewed in house..." are you effing kidding me? obviously, what he says and what he's cognitively willing and able to accomplish are very different things at this point. but jesus christ...who the hell does he think he's fooling? he clearly has no idea what he's doing any more and that reflects very poorly on the entire organization. and if you don't think that raises a huge red flag for a coach like cowher, you're hopelessly naive. i hope this turns out to be another one ralph's accidental good hires, but until i see the results, i remain dubious.
  20. i thought somebody posted that they had some off-the-record conversation with Brandon where he acknowledged that our uniforms sucked and they would be replaced in 2010...or did i just dream that? anyone?
  21. of course he was...but buffalo fans love having smoke blownu p their asses... so therefore sullivan is a terrible writer...
  22. these are all EXTREMELY FAIR and valid points! that press conference WAS ridiculous, and if i am Bill cowher watching that thing I am definitely rethinking my "interest" in Buffalo. Bless his old greedy miserly heart, but Ralph looks like he has a year or two left at the very most. I almost laughed out loud when he spoke about Nix being a guy "we have needed for a long LONG time!" like it was some sort of epiphany that only he could have some up with that we needed a real GM and not a beancounter. If Ralph gets lucky and this turns out to be a great hire I'll be thrilled. But this stinks of Ralph's propensity toward lazy cheap hires. Until proven otherwise, this is a big rudderless ship. And I will continue to believe that this team has zero chance of being really good again until he's no longer the owner.
  23. yeah really... wtf dude! you already promised us cowher!!
