  1. Kevin Weidl from Scouts Inc. has his Senior Bowl Practice Day 1 Recap on ESPN Insider. I'm going to paraphrase here, but here is what he said about Nassib:

He thought Nassib had the best day of any quarterback. He said Nassib was on the mark early on, had good zip and placement on out routes. He said Nassib was confident, had good anticipation, and was competing. In 7 on 7 drills, it says he did a good job looking off the one-high safety. Overall he said no one (among QBs) REALLY stood out, but Nassib had the best day overall.

Here's the link for anyone else with Insider: http://insider.espn....ice-notes-day-1

  2. I like what I saw in that second video. He seemed pretty accurate on the deep balls to me.

Not agreeing or disagreeing with what you said, but one thing all of us should keep in mind when doing our own evaluations of quarterbacks is whether the video we are watching is a highlight video (like the 2nd one) or a pure "every snap in a game" video (like the first one). Highlight videos can make anyone look good when you cherry pick.

Personally, I really like seeing the videos of Nassib, Wilson, etc. where you can see everything they did in an entire game. It gives you a chance to see what they do in specific situations, which I believe to be valuable.

  3. I still think we should have gotten Bulaga instead like a number of posters here had wanted. He's a dominant tackle. Looked good againt Irvin last night.

You mean the Bulaga that was part of the O-Line that gave up 8 sacks on Rodgers against Seattle? Irvin alone had 2 sacks. I'd be lying if I said I knew how many of the sacks were on Bulaga, but I don't know that I'd call him a dominant tackle. Spiller is showing the game-breaking ability that we drafted him for.

  4. Apuszczalowski gave a good explanation for anyone still confused. One other thing I'd like to add is that the Bills frequently use Chandler and Spiller as WRs in 4 or 5 WR sets, so having 4 WRs on the roster plus Brad Smith for insurance is good enough to get you through a game if an injury occurs. There are really at least 6 or 7 guys who can play some form of WR for us in a given week as it stands, even if we're only carrying 4 "official" WR on the roster.

  5. Yeah, if he can't keep up with the other 50 + point per game QB's in the Big 12 we'll know he's worthless.

Haha. Yeah I hear what you're saying about the Big 12 being known for high scoring offenses and sub-par defenses. That's certainly true to an extent, but in general, I feel like playing a solid Big 12 schedule will give us a better indicator of his ability compared to playing Mountain West teams. His last 5 weeks are rough: OK St, West Virginia, Kansas St, Texas, and Oklahoma. Texas will have one of the best defenses in the country this season, so that would be a game to watch if you want to see how the kid fares. But back to your point...given the conference Pachall plays in, he better be putting up some numbers.

  6. it was bound to happen sooner or later. woulda been a great story to see him pull through and make a name for himself but hes a smart dude (and i think his mother is a school administrator right?) and he hasn't produced half a dozen mini-mike jaspers so I'm sure he will be fine and find good work in a sports/media related field. I wish ya the best big mike, shadow mike, mountain mike, magic mike, bubbly mike, mike buble or whatever the hell else everyone tried calling you.

also, wheres the guy who knows the girl big mike has been dating? wheres the gossip yo!

Although I don't think I'm the guy you're referring to because I never mentioned it here, I do know the girl Jasper has been dating. We were in the same class at North Tonwanda High School. I haven't talked to her in years, but we are friends on Facebook. Every once in a while she posts some pictures of them together. Anyway, if I hear or see anything noteworthy about Jasper I'll post it.

  7. You're in such a hurry to argue with me that you're missing the point. Whatever; I've attempted to be civil with you to no avail. You're just a pretty miserable individual. Feel free to simply stay away from any threads I start.

I don't usually like to get involved in any arguments on here, but this is one case where I need to jump in. I agree 100% with what eball has said, and he's right...other people are trying to twist things and argue about something else, and they are missing the point. Buddy Nix is a refreshing change from the typical GM, and I for one feel lucky to have him. I love the blunt honesty and openness about the team; he's the kind of guy you can rally behind because he'll tell it like it is.

Also, Armchair GM, I agree with you about Spencer Johnson having a chance to really step up this year. As you said, he'll finally be back in his "original" position as a DT in a 4-3 defense, and this season should be a good chance for him to step up and be a valuable member of the DT rotation.

  8. There has been an awful lot of discussion this offseason because our defense has supposedly improved. I also think it has but Sparano coming over from the fish is going to have some tricks up his sleeve with two very fast receivers and Tebow. The Jets have three all pro offensive linemen and a solid running game. Their defense is solid and plays tough under Ryan. They have been quiet thus far in the media possibly because they know that chalkboard by every team you play makes the game tougher. Maybe they just want to play football and let their performance speak for itself. I for one would rather have them shooting their mouths off in an unfocused tirade that would allow us to gain that bit of hunger that may have been missing just a bit.

The players play but this is going to be ultimately Chan vs. Rex. Two guys that have been around football a long time and know each other pretty well. Although, new faces like their offensive and our defensive coordinators, our Williams and their Tebow, our hopeful top two draft picks that have more questions than answers and their fireman our our Elvis. If they don't want to talk yet (and its still early) and give us any more fuel to excite us or any other team, we as fans need to understand that this excitement doesn't mean squat if it doesn't amount to wins.

I'll agree that it has been a little quiet recently on the Jets front, and they certainly still have a great defense. In terms of their running game however, they finished 22nd in the NFL last season in rushing yards per game, and 30th in the NFL in yards per attempt at 3.8. Nick Mangold is a great center, but their running game hasn't really been the same since they had Thomas Jones and a more dominant offensive line. I don't think their use of Tebow will add THAT much more to what they currently do. I'm not trying to argue...just stating my opinion that their running game doesn't scare me.

  9. Happy Birthday!

I"m heading to a lake house next weekend for my birthday. And my buddies just sent around ye-olde logistics email asking if I had any special requests for liquor, etc. I promptly forwarded the link!

Thanks! I like where your head's at...the only thing that would make it better however is to also forward the link to Stevie Johnson's cake. The only thing better than one cake is two cakes.

  10. Nah. I think Kelsay will play on obvious rushing downs, Anderson will play on obvious passing downs, and Merriman will be used situationally on either side as an additional pass rusher, to the extent his health allows.

Now, if he shows in training camp he is truly back "to form" we can throw all of that out the window -- but you have to be a fool to count on that.

Agreed on all counts. Kelsay will probably be the "starter" that's out there on 1st down. But there will be a lot of rotation at the position opposite Williams.
