  1. The one thing that sticks out to me from watching all his videos is his complete confidence and comfort in playing press man to man coverage against top end talent such as a Jameson Williams.

You really have to have the confidence and physical ability to do that.  Most collegiate players would be scared shitless but not Elam.   He looks at ease and it’s because of his long frame, fluid hips, speed and mental toughness.

Also, I have read a couple people characterize him as “soft”, he’s not and he is a very willing tackler just that he lacks technique.    I am sure that the Bills will coach him up and that will get fixed.

He is going to provide the Bills so much flexibility in being able to play more press coverage than in years past, and now with all the WR’s coming into the division and conference the Bills have to be able to better matchup against these weapons.

My hopes are that the Bills select a WR and RB with their next two picks.  We have to keep getting offensive playmakers and there are still 3-4 RB’s and around 10 WR’s that can offer an immediate impact to the offense.

Did you not see the run on WR? Any WR left would be a much bigger reach than Elam.  You could easily trade up and get somebody in 2nd-3rd if you're that worried about it.

You don’t understand.  Scotty wanted a WR with the first pick, no matter what. NO Matter What! NO MATTER WHAT!!!!

Doesn’t matter how many WR’s were picked up to this point, even if they didn’t have a first round grade or were not near the BPA on the Bills chart because Scotty wanted a WR!

The criteria of "Will this pick help us win now" is the epitome of short term thinking I hope our FO is not using in the draft.  The draft should be for the future benefit of the team.  Cap management through the draft is extremely important for maintaining long term success.

The draft should be done with an eye towards future finances- safety (Poyer $13M), LB (Edmunds $15M), even CB (Wallace $4M), WR (Sanders $6M) all make more financial sense than Hall ($3M) replacing Singletary ($2M).

    I completely disagree.

Its not the only criteria but it has to be a part of the decision making.   The Bills are very close to winning it now, many other successful organizations have made “win now” decisions such as the Rams, Bucs and Saints.

When you are in that window, you have to seize the opportunity.

And let’s not pretend by selecting a RB that this somehow damages the long to mid-term outlook, that is preposterous.

Personally, I think the "never, ever take a running back in the first round" thing has become ridiculously overblown. I get it: positional value, short shelf life, blah blah blah. But people saying they'd rather reach for a corner just because it's a need, or who would rather take WR6 or CB5 instead of RB1, even if RB1 is rated higher on the draft board, just because spreadsheet Twitter says so...it's gotten out of hand.

RB is not my preferred choice at 25, but if Beanie feels like adding a dynamic running back will help the team more than reaching to fill a need at corner or WR, I'm not gonna throw my TV out the window.

I watched our running game for the majority of last year. I watched Allen be our red zone running back for four years straight. Having a legit running back for six years (fifth year option plus franchise tag) to balance our offense and reduce the amount of hits our QB takes won't be the worst thing, even if it makes the analytics twerps scream and cry.

It is, it's a rigid way of thinking.  Every situation is different and it all depends on the quality of the back, what that back brings to the table and how far along you are as an organization.  If you are an organization that is building to become a relevant team then a RB probably wouldn't probably be the best choice as there are other positions that are deemed more important to building the foundation of a successful organization.   However, if you are a team that is contending for the Super Bowl and a RB can provide a large delta to what you already have, then it makes a lot more sense.   Elite RB's touch the ball 20+ times a game, elite WR's touch the ball 6+ times a game, granted the average touch gains considerably more yardage for a WR than it does for a RB, but a top end RB can not only help the ground game but also keeps defenses honest and can help open up the pass game.   This is not an inaccurate characterization, there is a reason why many of the previous Super Bowl winners had a commitment to run the ball.

No one is saying that the Bills should become a ground and pound team or a team that should run the ball anywhere near 50/50, the Bills will always be a pass first team as long as Josh Allen is at the helm, but the Bills are extremely close to winning it all and having a RB that can run the ball very effectively, with homerun speed, great vision and well above average pass catching ability is something that would most likely show immediate results for this offense.

I think for me when the Bills make their draft choice it has to meet certain criteria and as far as I'm concerned the "Will this pick help us win now" criteria would have to be met.  We are too close as an organization to make a draft choice that should potentially be "red shirted" or is competing for a starting job in a position that is already adequately filled at this time.

IF Hall can be a pro bowl calibur RB and having that quality level of services can only be had for 5-7 years while this is a contending team, then for me it would have all been well worth it.

  5. Very interesting perspective from Albright, essentially making the case that choosing a first round RB is not as bad of a move as once thought of.  Saying that you can pick up the fifth year option, franchise him after and you can have 6 good years which is their typical shelf life with a relatively low cost.

It’s all part of the new analytics way of thinking about it.

Andrew booth, Dax Hill and Kyler Gordon are clear upgrades over dane and every other boundary cb not name White.

Zion Johnson is a clear upgrade over bates and would take saffolds sport next year.

Every WR is a clear upgrade over Jameson Crowder.

1st rd picks are usually upgrades over several positions…..which position is most important?  Not RB

I'm not advocating for him to be the first pick, I'm making a comment on his skills and that by adding him to the team, he would be a clear upgrade.

But if he was, I wouldn't be upset.   The delta to what he can provide to this offense would be significant.

  7. After watching all those additional highlights, I think it’s clear to say that Bryce is a home run runner who can take it to the house, has phenomenal vision, great balance, awesome 1v1 moves, has a nose for the end zone, is an effortless runner and has great hands.

He definitely would be a clear upgrade over what we currently have.

Buscaglia did mock Rousseau to the Bills last year so that is interesting. If the Bills want Breece Hall at 25 then they're probably not sweating one bit, nobody else is going to take him before us. Could realistically trade down a few spots and still get him, just need to stay ahead of the Jets and Falcons.

Albert Breer and Simms both believe that Breece will be the Bills pick as well and both of these guys in 18 believed Allen was going to the Bills as well.

I think the giants would get more.
    #7 pick = 1700

    #25 pick -= 720

Both of our 6th rd picks total 24

    7th = 1

    2023 first rd pick = 330

Conditional picks next year total about 100

Thats 1175 vs 1700 without edmunds or Bradberry.  525 difference.  Our second and third rd pick = 475.  Edmunds has more value due to his age and hope that he could still be ascending, even though he hasn’t been.  Bradberry plays a premium position and has also “made the pro bowl” (as if that matters).   Let’s say we give edmunds a 2nd rd trade value and Bradberry a 3rd trade value- we would still be at least a 3rd pound pick and less pick short.

Even if the Gmen agreed to it, it doesn’t seem logical for Beane to do this imo.  Trading our starting MLB + TWO first round picks plus several other picks….so we can draft another MLB and acquire a corner on the was pretty meh last season, on the last year of his contract making 13M?

I really hope this isn’t the case….Beane isn’t that stupid.  He can’t be.  Can he?Scared Breaking Bad GIF by davidsaracino

    Do math.

It all boils down to what you believe Devin Lloyd could become.  If he is a game changing LB who can get after the QB, plays tough instinctive run stopping with a nose for the football to get some interceptions then it’s a no brainer.  So it would all boil down to the scouting team and if they believe he would be THAT guy.

Obviously, I haven’t seen him nearly as much of the scouts but from what I have seen of his highlights and stats and reports from other draft dudes, he seems to be that guy.

I would be more than ok with it.  But as you said, it may take more to get him.

Maybe the Bills wait a little longer and see if they can get him in the teens if they really do like him.

  10. 5 minutes ago, NewEra said:

What do you think the bills are going to trade to get to 7?  25 and edmunds?

We won’t have picks all of our picks 2-4 if we Trade up this far.  Maybe if we trade Edmunds, 25, and our 1st and second next year. But I doubt we do that.

Im not sure.   Partially depends on what Edmunds value is.  But on the surface I would think.

    Bills:

    2022 1st

    2022 6th

    2022 7th

    Edmunds

    2023 1st

    2023 conditional 3rd-5th

    Giants

    2022 1st

    Bradberry

  11. I think a lot of people on this board truly don’t realize how good of a LB Devin Lloyd is.    We have been conditioned to look at CB’s, WR’s and IOL’s as that has been identified as our biggest need.

Devin Lloyd can do it all.  He’s fast, physical, great run stuffer and tackler, awesome against the pass and a phenomenal pass rusher.

He had 111 tackles last year, 8 sacks and 4 interceptions.

Watch the highlights.   These sacks aren’t garbage sacks, the dude has legitimate pass rushing moves.

If the Bills can trade for their 7th pick and get Lloyd, not only would we get ourselves a game changing defensive player who has true MLB instincts and playmaking ability who can get after the QB, but with the trade of Edmunds you free up a lot of money to get more pieces.  The Giants could throw in Bradberry and now the Bills could still use their 2nd -4th picks to get quality value WR and CB.

I would be very ok with this move.   The team most definitely would be upgraded from the past year.

  12. I have been wanting Jameson Williams for a while now but it seems a near certainty he will be gone.

Pickens is the guy that I want.  Good speed, great size, physical run blocker and can pluck the ball out of the air with the best of them.

He has been a baller since day 1 and I think he will be a legitimate #1 WR in this league for years to come.

He very well may be available by the time the Bills pick.

And if either Walker or Breece Hall are available with the 2nd pick, get two more CB’s with picks 2-4.

  13. This is not a bad look for Poyer at all.  It's voluntary practices and he is in the heat of negotiations.  He has laid out his heart and soul to the team and I guarantee you that no one inside that locker room views him skipping the practices with any sort of contempt at all.

it is part of the business, he is trying to get his last real chance at a difference making pay check for the rest of his life.

If they can structure a deal that looks really high on the top line similar to Harrison with only reasonable guarantees of around $22 Millionish or so in the first two years, then the deal may be doable for Beane and the Bills.

I hope he finishes his career with the us because without doubt he has been an integral part of the culture building and to the good defense the Bils have.

I say trade Poyer to move up in draft and grab Kyle Hamilton. Win-win

    No it's not.

We already have an ALL PRO safety, we would have to trade our ALL PRO and a 1st rounder to get him, in no way shape or form is that a win win for the 2022 season.

  15. We're definitely getting a CB with one of our premium draft picks.  I would say CB is the most likely selection at this point, but I don't believe they will reach too much to get one with the 1st pick.

If the Bills can get a quality/serviceable veteran CB in FA, then the likelihood of a CB in the 1st round drops.

I would love to see the Bills get a stud WR with the 1st pick, but same principle should apply, to not reach to get one.  There are a lot of good WR's to be had in the 2nd/4th round.

If we can get a WR and CB with two of the first three picks I will be a very happy camper.

What would be his impact in this pass happy league, especially the AFC which is now boasting of so many star QBs.  When talking about Ngata and Suh we are talking of a different era of football.

Teams have taken advantage of Davis's lack of conditioning by running no-huddle and keepong him on the field for passing downs.

Davis had a freaky combine run but not sure if he is going to be that star in the NFL.  Time will tell,

I think his ability to get to the QB is underrated, look at all the big games against top competition he had and he was constantly getting after the QB.

With that said, I think we are all set at DT and I wouldn’t want to use any of our premium picks on that position.
