  1. Dan brought in players near the twilight of their career for huge money & brought in prime talented players. Ville Lieno is soon to be 29 (11-6-83 BD), Regehr is 30, Ehrhoff is 29.

Someone has to help the Sabres now until McNabb and Gragnani develop, and I for one am VERY happy they invested in depth. Excited is not a strong enough word! The Bills would never obtain top talent in pairs like the Sabres do...

  2. Calm down Scrap

What I am trying to say here is that rather then "biuld through the draft" like the Bills are doing they are going out and getting talent in other ways. I am not saying they aren't doing a good just just they arent relying heavily on the draft to biuld the sabers team.

And all the extra curricular that you are laying into your posts isnt needed.....wtf

I partly disagree.. our defensemen and goalies are going to be home grown. Our prospects are a couple of years from being NHL starters, and we got spoiled with Tyler Myers. I can't wait for McNabb to make the roster...

  3. Bits:

-Lee Evans being traded after our offense finally gets going again is ridiculous, and to not trade for another player is worse.

-Not signing Clabo for 5 years because you can't win now is a joke.

-Why are you drafting these gadget guys when you have true needs?

-Bell is the best tackle we have, and the best means he's being compared to bad offensive linemen, which is a joke.

-Depth at WR is not the same as numbers- New England has depth and we have numbers.

-Paying Brad Smith for only a handful of plays for a wildcat offense that is exposed is ridiculous.

-The Eagles' depth is so good at CB that they are cutting a $2 million CB because he's slotted as a dime back.

-The Buffalo Sabres want to win and the Buffalo Bills are existing.

    It was a bomb fest...

  4. I just saw the replay of this, flame me all you want! What I saw was a football play unfortunate for Jones but this is football not some fuggin ballet!

Bucking for the Patrick Moran Prize on TBD are you?

It is a preseason game for a player that isn't going to be cut, not one that counts though... remember that.

  5. Often enough that they named the offense after him.

As for Chandler, didn't he have a huge drop out in the open against Chicago in the first quarter?

There have been a LOT of receivers/TEs who have dropped wide open passes in their careers. Not worried unless it is like a TO habit.

  6. Knowing that Mallett was the best QB in the draft was knowing that the Bils were not going to take him. Now he is better than any QB on the Bills roster and it makes me sick that he is in New England. This band of morons need to be run out of town. :wallbash::censored::bag::bag:

You're right, of course Ryan Mallett is awesome.. he's kicking a** in PREseason... good God. Let's get some perspective- I have seen him make the worst decisions against great teams, and he won't change.

  7. I refuse to buy into this 'Ralph is cheap' line that many people use to justify the performsnce of the team. Mismanagement, for sure, but not being cheap- he has fired an absolute NFL HOF Contributor in Bill Polian, let Marv Levy walk over a coaching dispute, and hired coaches and managers that are poor choices not because of their salary but because we couldn't bring in the big fish. Ralph Wilson should have bowed out a long time ago and breathed some life into the franchise.

That being said, our offensive line is obviously broken, whether or not it is a preseason game. This along with Spiller's lack of concentration and a dulled learning curve will doom us to mediocrity or worse, and Gailey has to know that is the case. He knows his job is on the line, and as a second chance coach this could very well be his last chance. Buddy Nix can't possibly survive the storm of criticism unless they quit puttering around and FIX what everyone else knows isn't working. NO MORE athletic freaks of nature... we need PROFESSIONALS.

  8. nice first start for the rookie....a QB rating of 108.

really wanted the Bills to draft this guy in the third round.

Mallett will wind up being the best QB in his draft class.

i guarantee Mallett will be traded in the future for a 1st or 2nd round pick (the next Kolb).

I can see it now, with a bust for Mallett in Canton:

"Greatest quarterback in NFL Preseason History. Ryan Mallett tore apart vanilla NFL defenses in the preseason, establishing himself as Preseason Rookie of the Year on his way to an undefeated preseason and major accolades from bloggers and board posters. His selection was automatic as he always did the very best against the finest preseason defensive schemes."

    :wallbash:

  9. Lots of picks (or free agency signings) at a single area does not mean strength at that area.

Who were the quarterbacks when then did that 3 years in a row? Who was the GM when they had a substandard QB and drafted those WRs??

If you have players like Fitzpatrick, Jackson/Spiller, and the young WRers we have, you can AFFORD to draft those OLmen. Detroit didn't have that kind of offensive potential!!

  10. In Pat Moran's defense, he may have just had bad information. It doesn't sound like he made this up. There was indeed a search of Merriman's vehicle at the border crossing.

    CAUSING THIS:

    "Shawne Merriman caught with steroids"

    "Shawne Merriman busted for steroids"

"Report: Shawne Merriman Recently Caught with Steroids"

"Former Chargers OLB Shawne Merriman Caught with Steroids"

    AND YET...

"For the record, I’ve sat on this story for close to three weeks—and numerous mainstream media members I’ve confided in can attest to that."

Journalists like in All The Presidents Men (Woodward and Bernstein) did their research when a source came forward. Mr. Moran is not a journalist in August, 2011.

  11. The lack of respect Buffalo gets across the country is UNREAL, yet Miami always seems to be a sleeper pick for the AFC to go to the playoffs and be in the Hunt are you kidding me ?

Didn't we beat the Fish at least once last year. Nothing would make me happier than for the Bills to go 16=0 and sweep the playoffs and win a Super Bowl then everyone who isn't a Bills fan can go FK them self.

Remember the SI days when they always picked Miami to win the division, and each year they were wrong? They bet on Marino and Shula and lost... LOL

  12. per Tim Graham via Twitter. Even though people in football department did. Why should he have the say. Shouldn't the GM?

You have to ask: Does Ralph Wilson EVER want a black starting quarterback in Buffalo? There was Harris, but that was 40 years ago.

I think about that a lot when the QB discussions come up. Brad Smith may be a gimmick QB that he doesn't have to pay big money...

  13. First Round Bills OL picks of the past:

    2002:

    Mike Williams - BUST

    The rest: (ahem)

    Ruben Brown, Pro Bowler

    John Fina (very solid LT)

    Will Wolford, Pro Bowler

    Jim Richter, Pro Bowler

    Stew Barber, AFL All-Star

WHAT are we DOING???? My God, I didn't realize that we were 5/6 on picks for OLmen. That is amazing, and yet we ignore the position for lower round picks.

    Thoughts?
