  1. Before we start working on the Wilson bust, can't we at least let him play a few years first? I seem to recall another 3rd rounder that started as a rookie and looked great only to crash and burn.

Not this kid, he's got that inner fire/ethic thing that will not accept less. Won't happen. I think him nearing/breaking Peyton's rookie record for TD's puts him in pretty lofty company and deserves recognition no matter what he does in 2 years.

  2. We have already lost out on Teo, so this board might as well talk about drafting Andrew Luck because the odds are the same...zero. Teo will go top 3 and quite possibly #1 overall. We can not draft that high and we all know Nix is not gonna trade up to get him, especially the bounty it will take and for a LB.

This board will be on fire with draft Teo threads I am sure, its just never going to happen as he will go way higher than we will pick. After saying that, I would love nothing more than to be shocked and proven wrong, but its just never going to happen.

With every tackle that Luke Kuechley piles up, the rationale for drafting LB's higher comes more into favor.

Te'o is a top 3 pick for certain.

  3. But Jerry Jones said his big regret was.....

I've seen enough, no Spiller on O, D can't make a big stop in a crucial moment.....coach afraid to let his kicker try to put points on the board.

I don't care how many other coaches have not panned out.....the players do not believe anymore....and that you can't get back....get another one in here and make sure his D coordinator a 4-3 guy for fux's sake.

  4. Phillip Rivers is an absolute stud.......we'd be lucky to get him.....

funny how really good QB's become bad when their Offensive Lines go from good to bad.....

San Diego is 28th in sacks allowed..

Agreed...what would the price be....Next years 1? This years 2nd or 3rd? Not sure how to value these things

  5. I look at his years when they had a threat in the RB position and a good D - not that those were the sole reasons for it but his numbers were top tier. If the price is reasonable, this would be the best available veteran option for us to bridge the gap. I still think you take a dev QB in this draft.

  6. My take is they want it known NOW because they already have a hire for a new HC in mind. Because they let the world know NOW there won't be any second guessing after the season ends. The Chargers will hire Andy Reid after the season is over as he has a home in San Diego and its already been speculated that has looked over the roster and wants the job in SD.

Also Reid might want some of the assistants on the current team so its better just to leave the team alone.

Can you imagine how Charger fans feel towards AJ Smith? That moron fired Marty Schottenheimer after a 14-2 season, and hired Norv Turner a known loser as HC. The preceded to let half the talent on the offense walk away.

RB Michael Turner- RB Darren Sproles- WR Vincent Jackson- QB Drew Brees. Allowed a OT to hold out during the season and disrupted the continuity of the O line all year

Norv Turner took over a 14-2 team with the most talented roster in the NFL, and drove them into the ground. 11-5, 8-8, 13-3, 9-7, 8-8, 4-8. Phillip Rivers was a top 5 QB, now he sucks worse then Fitz this year

Marty must have bumped heads with mgmt and Norv MUST be a very good "yes man" to have survived this long after all of those terrible starts.

  7. I never understood this as a management strategy. What's the benefit of announcing this now and letting him remain as opposed to quietly going about business knowing that you will be making the change at the end of season? OR why not just fire him and name an interim?

Is this to be sure that they let the potential candidates know that SD is in play?

  8. No way they ask for a 1st.

Sea: "We can't take a first off of you Buddy, it would be criminal"

Buddy: "Okay then 2 First rounders and not a penny less"

    Sea: "No...Buddy, I don't think you underst....."

Buddy: "You sure do drive a hard bargain, but you're messin with a Southern good ol' boy....and we always win"

Sea: "Just give us a third"

Buddy: "Three first rounders it is!"

  9. So with all this talk about how good Mario is and how good the D has been over the past month, do they bring Wanny back?

Give Wanny two competent LB's, and is the D on to something?

Yes Mario has been a force since the bye. Sack stats are great but he has been in the backfield consistently. He has put pressure on the qb and changed plays many times.

This D is starting to look like what we thought we would watch from the start.

He's (Wanny) earned the rest of the season......I'll be a major believer if we stuff Beast Mode for an entire game.

  10. Nassib is a real NFL contender. He can read a defense well and has the tools.

If our QBs in 2013 were Alex Smith, and then Nassib and Gleanon in the draft, I would love it.

    Agreed and Agreed!!!!

Nassib's stock is going up.....Projecting 2nd rounder. What I love is that he's kind of a local product (From PA) ....If he can withstand living in the Cuse for 4 winters, B-lo is a non-issue! If it were him vs. another southern boy or Cali princess with slightly better skills, go for the kid that would only need to drive a couple hours to his new home!!

Rocket arm, quick release, his pump fake and play fakes are ridiculous...feels the rush really well....decent scrambler. Looks like he's a pretty good field general too...

11/29/12 - BIG EAST: NFL DRAFT PROSPECT WATCH - WEEK 13: 1. QB Ryan Nassib, 6-2, 228, Syracuse: Why he has the top spot: Nassib has set numerous single-season and career school records in 2012 with a spectacular season. With one game left in his career, the senior quarterback already owns the Syracuse record for passing yards (9,060) and completions (780) in a career. Nassib also leads the Big East in touchdowns with 24, passing yards with 3,619 and passing yards per game with 301.6. On the national level, Nassib ranks 13th in FBS in total yards per game (312.3). More importantly, Nassib has keyed a late-season revival by the Orange.

The Syracuse offense has averaged 38 points during a current three-game winning streak and 35.8 over its last six contests. Nassib has a powerful arm, reads coverages effectively and has demonstrated poise in high-pressure situations. From the start of the season, Nassib looked completely remade. In a 42-41 opening-week defeat against Northwestern, he tied a Big East record for completions with 45 and set the conference all-time mark in attempts with 66. In spite of the loss, Nassib set a school record with 482 passing yards. Syracuse coach Doug Marrone has run out of superlatives to describe the leader of his offense.

    Season stats (12 games): 283 of 448 (63.2 completion percentage), 24 TDs, 9 INTs, 3,619 passing yards.

Player ranking: Nassib's stock is rising, he's now ranked No. 43 overall and the No. 4 quarterback in CBSSports.com's latest player rankings. Nassib is currently projected to be selected in the second round. At the start of the season, Nassib was projected to be taken in round 3-4. - Matt Rybaltowski, CBSSports.com
