Somebody really needs to remind Buddy Nix he's not the smartest guy in the room. I mean, before something really bad happens...
This is a !@#$ing joke. Apparently Ralph is finally willing to spend serious money on a coach and we have Frazier "blowing" Nix away in an interview. I think that's just code for, "we can't get any of the top tier coaches available to come here, so we'll just say this nobody 'blew us away.' !@#$ing bull ****.
I would rather have Fewell at this point. This better not happen.

I've liked McNabb, but his clock may be striking midnight very soon. I mean, if we got him for Marshawn Lynch, straight-up, I"d happily take the deal and let McNabb start for 2-3 seasons while we built a line a drafted a replacement. If the Eagles decide to hand the ship to Kolb and cut McNabb, I'd eagerly sign him up.
But if we're talking first-day picks, I think we should pass.
For lynch? That's kinda absurd, no? Lynch isn't even the starting back on our team. I'd give up our first overall for McNabb...he's got several great years left still. He's arguably a top 5-7 QB in the league still.
I know he's younger, but look how much Cutler (who hasn't put up the numbers that McNabb has) demanded in a trade..orton and two first rounders (i think).
runningbacks are a dime a dozen..and this is NOT the year to trade lynch as his value is crap.

A while ago on one of these threads, I proposed that we select the first pick for the FO. That way, if the pick fails, we only have ourselves to blame - not the front office! Had this method actually been implemented, Ngata would be on this team, Orakpo/Oher (based on the posters here) would have been on this team, Bryant McKinnie would have been on this team, Leodis McKelvin/Marshawn Lynch... well, I'm not too sure about those two. If there is ANY chance that a member of the new FO is perusing these boards, then let the percentages speak! The fanbase has chosen!!
Obviously not all of these picks will be available at #9, so in that case, the selection should be awarded to the next available player with the highest percentage. I'm going to assume that we stand pat at #9 and DE/DT N. Suh, DT G. McCoy, and OT R. Okung are off of the board. Also, any player who plays in the secondary has been omitted for obvious reasons...
my first few rounds are in my signature. thats who i would like/want to draft for the bills.

Jim Kelly had a similar injury in his senior season. Would you say he had a "glass shoulder"? I get that the shoulder injury is a concern, but come on.
People just have a tendancy to exaggerate. The guy has an injury to his shoulder and all of a sudden it's a glass shoulder. He didn't miss a game before this year. That shoulder is more of a freak occurrence than anything else, imo. But again, the doctors imput should be critical in the decisiion. the guy is 22, not 40.
-
Also, just to add to my love affair with Bradford: I think it's a bit of a stretch to call him injury prone. The guy didn't miss a single game until this year when he suffered the shoulder injuries..and it's clear that he probably never fully healed from the injury in the first place. If the doctors see no problem with his shoulder, he would be a STEAL if we draft anywhere between 8-12. A STEAL.
oh ya..i'm not a sooner fan either, just for the record..lol.
-
I feel the same way as you. Just because this group are the best QB's in the draft doesn't guarantee they will have any success at the pro level.
I think if Bradford hadn't been injured, he'd be a sure "can't miss". just my opinion.
-
A QB drafted in the 1st round will become the next JP/Trent behind this line. It would be an absolute waste of a draft pick / money. If either of those guys had a better line, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
I think in this year's draft, there's going to be several OT and guards that are pure quality that can be had in the 2nd round.
You have Fox from Miami, Black from LSU, Williams from Oklahoma, Davis from Rutges...several of these Tackles will be there in the 2nd round when we draft.
My ideal scenario would be QB first/ OL 2nd...as per my signature.
With an OL in the 2nd round, plus hopefully the return of a healthy Wood...and additional experience from our current rookies in year 2, i think this OLine would be much better next season.
-
Bradford, no doubt.
-
1) All first round picks
2) All softies
3) All are far more mouth than playmaker
4) All cost us games
5) All wasted picks
6) All are major indictments of a weak, clueless front office
you guys are !@#$ing ridiculous with the bashing. How has McKelvin been a wasted pick? Your memories are horrible. He was coming on strong last year in our defense and was turning into a playmaker on special teams...ya, he cost us 1 game with that brain freeze he had. GET THE !@#$ OVER IT. I expect McKelvin to come back to this team and contribute big time for us next year. What a bunch of whining vaginas we have on this board.
-
LOL..my favorite part is probably where the guy stumbles out of teh truck with a case of beer...!@#$ing priceless.
-
I'm offended by Drew Brees's haircut but I'd still take him.
LOL.
-
Intense, fiery leader, strong passion to win. He's matured significantly over the past two years. And he doesn't cry if he loses.
Some people think he's a douche and maybe that's true. So were Kelly and Marino.
Fair enough. I'm not that big on him (strictly personality, though I obviously never met the guy), but I like to see how other people feel. He def. may have the best tools out of the group coming out this year; we'll see how he is between the ears at the next level. He still has a lot more growing up to do though (imo)

People wouldn't be talking about a guy passing at 68%/3700 yards/28 TD/4 INTs in a pro style offense at Michigan or Miami? Really?
Fact is, it's the opposite situation here. Clausen hasn't received nearly the recognition he would have playing at a big name school with more recent success. He didn't get any press for at least half the season while everyone slobberred over Tebow, McCoy and Bradford. It wasn't until people started noticing that Clausen was running one of the most dynamic offenses in the country that he started getting some attention.
lol..i swear this isn't personal, despite quoting you two times.
I just have to mention how i couldn't disagree more with your statement, which I highlighted. Yes, they haven't been in a national championship, but can it really get anymore "big name" than Notre Dame? ALL of their games are nationally televised. The reason he hasn't gotten any press is b/c Weis blocks the sun (both literally and figuratively). And because up until this seaon, he hadn't really lived up to the hype. Yes, he had been good, but not excellent like he was this season.
Again, nothing personal with the quotes!
-
Overall I think that's a good point about guys leaving school early. One of the things I like about Clausen (other than the mechanics and personality), is that he's been a 3 year starter and has made noticable improvement each year. He got thrown to the wolves as a freshman but toughed it out on a crappy team. The last two seasons he's started every game. He'll be 23 next September and has over 30 starts in college so I think that alleviates the concern about being an underclassman.
Just curious, what are some of the things you like about his personality?
-
Please - no more SoCal surfer dudes, NorCal nancy-boys, or sniveling whiney Notre Dame punks for Bills next QB.
If Sam Bradford is on the board when the Bills pick, they should jump at him.
-
I would be happy if they took Bradford with their top pick... Im an OU fan though so I am biased
Same here. The thing with Clausen is that I think he'll do well in the NFL, but I really don't want another California QB on our roster for a while. =/. I think it's more of a mental concern with me than an actual "he can't play in cold weather." Certainly ND isn't warm, but I'm frankly tired of the West Coast layed back mindset that we saw with JP who was born in Cali and with Edwards who was also born in Cali. The same kind of mindset that the Jets are experiencing now with Mark Sanchez, who was also born in Cali.
Maybe i'm just paranoid..lol.

i dont know who to get. It seems like nobody really stands out over the rest which makes me skeptical. Maybe one of these guys is showing something that will succeed in the right system with the right coaching staff with a supporting cast. Right now we dont have any of those things. I do not trust Modrak, Guy, and Brandon to make this decision, so things as they are, I would rather use the first 2 rounds on lineman and/or linebackers.
one of these guys should be available after round 2
Ya, more than one will probably be available in the 2nd. It's still early to speculate b/c there's so many factors that we have to consider.
That being said, right now i'd lean towards QB in round 1; OL in round 2; trade up back into 2nd and go DL.
-
Locker definitely..i forgot. I think Mallett shouuld stay in college a couple of more years.
My preference would be Bradford of them all (if his physical works out OK--no reason to think it wont). We should be drafting in the top 8 this season... Bradford, Clausen, Locker, or McCoy. One will definitely be available. I think i'd really take any of them.
This is shaping up as a good QB draft.
-
You left off your list the two top QB's that might be available IMHO.
1. Jake Locker
2. Ryan Mallett
Locker definitely..i forgot. I think Mallett shouuld stay in college a couple of more years.

Will he go top 5? You think he'd be worth trading up for (if possible)?
Possible QB in 2010 Draft:
Clausen
Bradford
McCoy
Tebow
Pike
Snead
Robinson
Who do you want?

lmao...no kidding...im as surprised as you and I started this thread. More surprising was how the discussion remained mostly on the debateable aspects of the thread instead of just being pages of gibberish insults...even when there were disagreeing points...rare on this board...
ya, insults tend to be unwarranted..not that anyone should really take them personally here anyway.
-
Wow. I can't believe this thread is still going.
Six pages are given to a trade that wouldn't even happen in a video game, let alone in real life.
And no, I would not do this trade.

Boldin has produced at Elite levels when on the field since his first game and season where he was only rookie to make Pro Bowl and Blake/McCown were throwing him balls. That was 2 years before they got Fitz.
Boldin has produced NO MATTER who was the QB in AZ, and they have all pretty much been bad until Warner took over a season and a half ago...
In his second season, how many TD's did Boldin have in 10 games?
Again, his career year came when Warner arrived.
Steve Smith's career year came when Jake arrived.
Fitzgerald doubled his production when Warner arrived.
Listen, I must go. I did enjoy debating with you. Nothing against your ideas, I just disagree!!!
Hopefully we can continue this later.

I really can't understand the point of hiring someone like Frazier and letting go of Fewell. Really, WTF is the difference at this point?
