  1. Rob's house. Absolutely love your 8:21 pm comment. Concur 100%. Read Greg Gutfeld's "The Joy of Hate" People who don't agree with the social change fanatics need to be careful because if you cross them they will come after you with an asymmetric response. You say a word someone doesn't think is nice and they want your job, your future earnings, your reputation etc. Not a good justice system!!!!
  2. Same here Buftex. I could not disagree more either, e.g. your inference that if someone doesn't proclaim their innocence, one would assume they are guilty? just a plain asinine argument. But I didn't rip on you. Whatever. I don't care what Bob Costas thinks about gun control either because I'm pretty sure if I met the guy I wouldn't agree with him about much of anything. The media grabs onto something they think they can utilize to affect social change and they will not let it go. The issue here is this **** isn't even real news. ISIS, West Bank, Crimea, Afghanistan. And we're listening to talking heads with room temperature IQs talk 24-7 about football violence. get a real problem. my issue isn't specifically what happened to any one player it is the endemic use of media power try to manipulate what happens to people and force us to agree with them on certain issues.
  3. Thanks for the highlights. Nowhere in my post did I mention Rice, Hardy, or Peterson. My point is if the precedent, to allow the media or Coca Cola or a local Nike atore owner to dictate "punishment", this is a slippery slope. Pay does not equal "allowed to play." Nice ad hominem attack BTW.
  4. So a player gets arrested, the legal system deals with the arrest. This player enters a pre-trial diversion program or agrees to a plea bargain (either or). The play complies with the deal he made with the state. The league makes a decision after the adjudication and legal process is done. NOW, PETA, some other libtard group is up in arms because they think it was too lenient (the way the league dealt with this) so they apply pressure using their influence and resources to make the player and the league look bad. The media jumps on board because they can look more progressive, enlightened etc if they agree. If they don't jump on board they appear tone deaf, or out of touch or ignorant. Hello!!! this isn't how our country was founded. we shouldn't take someone's livelihood away because they are unpopular in the media. Let the legal system run its course BEFORE we rush to judgment. Otherwise Dareus should be sitting, suspended etc. Felony arrest then arrest in Hamburg for what four misdemeanors? Sorry for typos...IPAD spellcheck etc.
  5. The niners gotir right. The Vikings got it wrong. Innocent until proven guilty. The burden of proof is not on the accused it's on the accuser. Presumption of innocence not guilt. PC gone awry. Those with political agendas use th media to further their cause. they want to make it untenable for teams to play the naughty boys...once an arrest occurs they play it up and teams know sponsorship $$$ is in jeopardy so they cow tow to the political pressure instead of doing the right thing (letting due process run its course first...getting all the facts first) and then making a decision. Remember Duke lacrosse. Pencil neck, no spine people caving to media, corrupt DA, incompetent cops and political pressure befor the truth is known.
  6. Golic is smart and I respect his opinion. Greenberg sucks...panty waste school of faggotry headmaster. screw him!
  7. Herb Brooks. They responded. Doug Marrone. Will they respond? Elite athletes are a pain in the ass to coach. Time will tell.
  8. CJ seems like a great guy. He's got a ton of highlight reel explosive plays. He's one of the fastest backs in the league. But, there are huge red flags. Chan clearly has issues with CJ's stamina. Marrone seems luke-warm on CJ. I think if they can get something for him they deal him. CJ certainly hasn't panned out the way Buddy envisioned. I don't think it is a "system" thing and figuring out how to work him in. It's more a "consistency" issue with CJ--coaches are wondering at the start of the play who which CJ will show up--good CJ or bad CJ?
  9. To me the something overlooked by fans more than coaches is the ability of an RB to be an effective blocker. This just isn't a stat like YAC or YPK. But coaches review every play and know the details of blown assignments or poor blocks. CJ has improved here but perhaps this is a skillset where CJ has been weaker than some of the other guys. There is no doubt he's an explosive rare thoroughbred when it comes to busting it up field. But with questions at QB/OL you really want a stud blocking back to help and maybe Doug doesn't trust him 100% to get that done. CJ seems earnest enough but maybe he struggles with the Xs and Os of his assignments more than Fred and others?
  10. This analysis is dead nuts on. Especially agree with the not enough "screw you.". Maybe EJ is just too tender hearted or something. Thin skinned with coaching criticism instead of getting pissed and getting better. Takes it personal. Good chance Thad will be the starter by end of year. Injuries aside. More instinctual and wants to be a football player. No he isn't an NFL starter but that's why we are a perennial dog team.
  11. The coaches will take the guy with the attributes complimentary to the rest of the team. It's probably a tough decision every year to sort out those last few spots. I think Marrone is high on 7-11 though.
  12. most the great quarterbacks are exemplary in some way and you could almost characterize them with a word or two. Montana--cool under pressure. Young--accurate. Marino--quick release. Brady--rare mistakes. Manning--prep and smarts. Rogers--all round great. Kelly--tough. how would you characterize EJ? I don't think he has the attitude to be great. I think he wants to be great but he doesn't realize how much it takes...the effort and time...the extreme amount of dedication and tenacity the never-give-up-ness. I wish he was a little more chippy. not cocky but more like Brady...pissed off. A little mean streak. A little more bad boy. he seems too milquetoast to be great. Wish otherwise but I don't see it. He's like the guy who is a decent golfer...he can sometimes rip it 300 down the fairway and sometimes he sinks a long putt or makes a nice chip or sand save but he's prone to the too often snap hook or the occasional blockng it OB right. maybe he can become a "game manager" and that would be great if he could limit mistakes and we could win with tough d and run game. I don't see us winning games because EJ plays great though.
  13. Of ALL the Bills this year. CJ has been the one who I would most want on my team. Dis if you want but seriously? Come On! The guy is an awesome player.
  14. 12th man will be huge. Would love to hear some nasty taunting of Grabbing Bill the Cheater. get inside his head and make his anger froth. His press conference after last year when he made a questionable decision re. time out was classic. Belichick --- Dick. Belichick --- Dick. Bill -- grab this. Bill -- grab this. Bella --cheat. Bella -- cheat. Etc. Cox sux was a great one...we need to come up with a new one for the dick in the hood.
  15. It is all about the draft. But even more so in a small market that does't have appeall for many players. And the game is all about who controls the line of scrimmage. Passing game or running game it still is all about the line of scrimmage. we need big men who can do this. Dareus. Yes. Lynch and McGahee and Spiller not so much. Pick up someone on waivers who can run. We need more Wood and Dareus. The draft is a double whammy to Buffalo because the draft is imperative. It's much harder to attract key players to fill in holes to Buffalo because it is a nondesirable destination for most free agents.
  16. I liked her piece. Her style isn’t my favorite but she captured a lot of what it feels like to be from Buffalo and not live there anymore. The Buffalo metro area had good schools and was a decent place to grow up. I left in ’78 and never looked back. Being from there gave me the educational opportunity to move on. It wasn’t my choice but I realize I was lucky to be born in Cheektowaga. When I visit I feel even more fortunate that I didn’t choose to stay. Since I left I’ve been to 40+ countries and every U.S. state. I’m not ashamed of where I’m from but I’m not “proud” either. My eyes are open and I try to take it all in and enjoy new places, ideas, and people. Now we live in a small town and a few of the guys who have lived here their entire life here crack me up. They act as though native sons are somehow more enlightened than the rest of us. They’re so proud of their birthplace (as if they had something to do with this). I asked my wife “isn’t it funny how our friend Jamie’s biggest accomplishment in life was having been born here?” That’s sad. "Talking Proud" was THE slogan 20 years ago. GO BILLS! I go back to Buffalo often and see a few proud natives, usually in bars. Jasmine’s article was true. 716ers and their Napoleonic posturing. It’s their nature. Not unlike my buddy Jamie. The truth is the Queen City failed to learn from past mistakes--stuck in the 80s, 70s or even the 60s. But Pride is why Buffalo has failed. A city that failed to reinvent itself. Instead of looking for new industry and welcoming new growth it retained past futile policies. I know, let’s try another dose of high corporate tax, high real estate tax, and corrupt politicians spending money on pet “projects”. Then when we lose more population and further deplete tax revenues we’ll just raise taxes more. Talkin’ PRIDE baby! I’ll always root for the Bills (as long as they aren’t in LA) and always hope the Sabres can make a playoff run. But that’s it. Sorry Buffalo, we chose to live in a place with hope, quality of life, and where prosperity for my family was an achievable goal. Stop trying to convince everyone else and even yourself how great it is there. The truth is it’s not. That's the reason so many of us left.
  17. Take a look at what the successful teams have done. Patriots and Steelers have used the draft to build strong teams. The game revolves around winning the battles in the trenches. You cannot win without big strong men on both sides of the ball. You also need a QB and a pass rush and run stoppers? We are so far away from this because of poor choices. Mcghahee, Lynch, Whitner...lots of mistakes...in rounds 1-7 for many years. Look at the history of Patriot draft picks. I hate them as much as anyone but you can learn more from 14-2 than spouting off. Go back ten years. They have been very flexible with what they did and who they took. Many years they wheeled and dealed. The picks they took bore no semblance to the picks they were dealt. Lots of defense. Lots of lineman and TEs. But they also took players to fill needs and traded (usually to their benefit) to make it happen. Some years they used the picks they had and took value players. They had four two round picks in one year. That was brilliant. Seems to me like any draft pick is a crap shoot. There is no sure thing even picking at number one. Ryan Leaf is not the only bust. Rememberr Jeff George? The good teams minimize this risk by picking with smart payback odds. They run it like successful stock pickers or economists not emotional fans. I hope Buddy and Chan look at where the needs are and where the value is and try to use the picks to build a great team. It's a lot harder than it sounds. Especially when you have scumbag agents like Jason Peters boy who pull talent out of the small markets to the big cities and leave a void.
  18. Flutie was a stud. Smart. Tough. Resourceful. Athletic. If you saw him on the street you would think...he's just like the rest of us. But he wasn't. How tall was he? Maybe 5' 10" He could dunk a basketball. He had the heart of a lion. Flutie got it done because he was a football player.
  19. JP has a cannon arm and serious wheels. So many of us were hopeful that he would be the man. But he lacked "it." That ability to feel the pressure, to sense the blitz, the vision to see his receivers, an accurate delivery. That is the crucial ability for the QB--being able to fuse these things with an awareness of time and space and making a good decision to put the ball where it needs to go. Brady, Brees, P. Manning and a few others playing today. All different but all of them were able to develop this football QB sense. Maybe JP never got the chance or maybe he doesn't have the innate talent...but he never displayed it. It's this intangible quality even pro scouts...those people who are the very best predictors of football talent...oftentimes are not able to judge a QB prospect in this area. And you can't ignore the talent or lack of talent that surrounds you...the O-line...can make a mediocre guy look pretty good (the cheaters last year). Not sure how even Drew Brees would do if he was in Buffalo...
  20. #1 People in Buffalo, well at least some people in Cheektowaga, will know know how to say and spell his name. #2 If Coach Raheem fired him he must be good. #3 (and most importantly). Our OC sucks.
  21. His arrest and reaction should tell you something about him. "Anybody who knows me knows i'm a high character guy...blah blah blah." A high character guy doesn't put himself in that situation. A high character guy has the humility to admit to himself and everyone else when they make a mistake and to learn from it. A high character guy has respect for others (i.e. police officers) and takes responsibility for one's own actions. Whitner being taken 8th overall was the biggest draft bust in the last five years of Bills picks. This guy does not make plays on the field and his arrest off the field lets you in on a little secret. He's an excuse maker. Not his fault. Know why the Bills are sucking right now? Character. They drafted this pretender. He's a thug. Nothing more, nothing less. He typifies the hip-hop arrogance and classless attitude so prevalent among many of these egotistical professional athletes. His "high character" is a costume. Wake up. The Bills need some football players...not talkers. This thug was a team Captain last year? What a joke.
  22. i don't think it's "how he throws the ball." it's also not just putting him in a pigeon hole of the type of QB trent is. there's more to it. he's a winner! he has your hopes up too right? here's my take on why. trent edwards is a smart, confident, and talented athlete. but he is also genuine and modest. that's the main reason we like him so much as bills fans. it's also why his team plays harder for him...a guy like that will always make those around him better. it's real leadership. whether he is trying to or not, this rare combination inspires fans and teammates. he has character. being a great QB isn't just how you throw the ball. trent is effective in the huddle, under the center, in the pocket buying time and sensing pressure, avoiding sacks, throwing the ball, cheering on his team and acting as a front man. he's serious but he doesn't take him self too seriously. his parents raised him right. that internal clock says get rid of the ball. the vision to see the field so he can go through his reads and throw to his check reciever...not as easy as it sounds...this comes from study. he moves just that little bit...enough to buy more time...don't need to be michael vick to get away just a little slide. don't need to throw the ball like jamarcus...just be accurate and put it on the numbers. all of that is important. but none of it matters as much as the respect his team and fans have for him. trent is a bright guy. this intelligence is real and powerful on the field. being able to listen to your coaches and to execute what they are telling you to do...that's what he's been able to do...he's shown he can learn and study and get better. that's huge. pure athleticism? no. it transcends those with pure athleticism. who does he remind me of? another smarty...who avoided the pressure and got the ball down the field. didn't worry about stats. get the job done. accurate passes. effectiveness as a QB won games. Sonny Jurgensen. I'm not a skins fan but that guy won games and that's what Trent is doing for us. everyone is different but the pure cerebral excellence Trent has shown is his biggest plus. He understands what it takes to be a complete player and he isn't doing it to be the man...he just wants to win. it's great having him in Buffalo. this is an exciting time. he's got our hopes up. he's just a great kid who gives us real reasons to cheer. we're pulling for a winner. thanks trent!
