His cap number for 2018 would've been about $8.5M...identical to Kelvin Benjamin and OBJ -
It would be a folly to trade Glenn. There's no reason to do so when you don't have to pay Dawkins until after the 2020 season. Move Glenn over to RT and let Mills be the swing OT. Cut Ducasse and draft an OG to compete with Miller, and you'll go into the 2018 season with a starting 5 of: Dawkins-Richie-Wood-Miller-Glenn ...backed up by Mills, Groy, and a rookie.

I expect a similar makeover. I think Hughes will get the door either via trade or outright release; too little production for the money, and when you mix in his undisciplined penalties, to me he flies in the face of everything that this regime has attempted to build. I think you'll see Shaq/Milano/Alexander come back, and I expect that they'll re-sign Humber if he continues to be inexpensive. Beyond that, you're looking at 3 new starters on the DL and at least one new starting LB (assuming Humber comes back as a backup). Also of the team's own doing--and it ended up hurting them. He could've potentially fetched a greater return if he had more than 1 year left on his contract. -

When you don't have elite EDGE rushers (and we don't), you absolutely have to have some interior push. Without Dareus, and with Kyle being long in the tooth, they have very little. -

In a hurry? I'm talking about after 2 more seasons. The overarching point is that what to do with Cordy after a successful transition to RT is a problem for another day. Thanks for the sentiment! Of course what you're saying is salient; the plan would be predicated upon Cordy showing the ability to play on the opposite side. If he doesn't, then you have to re-think the plan for the starting 5.

I'd move Cordy to RT if they feel that Dawkins is the LT. You can get away with paying Cordy until the time comes to pay Dion, which will be at least another 2 seasons. By that point, Cordy will be on the wrong side of 30 and cost $12.7M against the cap (while cutting him prior to the start of the 2020 league year would save $9.5M against the cap). There's no downside to Glenn, since he's being paid as a premier LT, and there's no downside to Dawkins, since it sets him up to get paid like a premier LT when his rookie contract expires.

There are probably worse ways to summarize what I wrote, but I currently can't think of any -

Sammy is the same player in LA that he was here: absolutely dominant when he's targeted. He's catching 61% of his targets and leads the team in YPR, YPT, and TDs despite having almost no offseason to learn the offense or get on the same page as the QB. Yeah, about the comparison to the rest of the NFL, well, context matters. - Watkins ranks 4th in the NFL in yards/reception among qualified WRs (i.e. those that have a minimum of 1.875 catches per game) - Watkins has 3 fewer receiving TDs than Antonio Brown and DeAndre Hopkins, despite having 90 fewer targets come his way - Watkins' catch rate of 61% is nearly equal to Brown's (62%) and outpaces Hopkins' by 6.5% - Watkins' yards/reception is 3.0 yards greater than either Hopkins or Brown, and his yards per target of 10.35 is significantly better than either player (Hopkins - 7.69, Brown - 9.13). His yards/target number continues to be astronomical by the way--he easily leads the entire NFL in this category since coming into the league. Combing through WR stats for 2017, he appears to be leading the NFL in this category again. For further investigation, I refer you to Football Outsiders, where Watkins ranks 7th in the entire NFL in DYAR, and 2nd in the entire NFL in DVOA: http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/wr All of which brings me back to the point that I always make about WRs: targets are, by a substantial margin, the number 1 factor in determining a receiver's productivity. That Sammy produces at the clip that he does despite not receiving a Julio Jones or Antonio Brown-like target share is, frankly, astonishing. -
