  1. yea, this Bills team can make the playoffs, provided every QB the Bills play goes brain dead like -Sanchez 5 picks -Jake D 2 picks -Anderson 2 completions ...then again, isn't Matt Schoub the leading yardage passer in the NFL?
  2. Dude, stats are pretty meaningless most of the time but consider these stats... The Bills are currently LAST in the NFL against the run, 10th against the pass, but! They played three teams with crappy QB's, the Jets rookie threw 5 ints and yet the defense allowed 300+ yds on the ground, it took an overtime miracle to get that win. The Browns completed only TWO passes all game long, was that because of the Bills punishing secondary or the storm like winds? Perhaps it was the Browns QB sucking all game long, yet the Browns won that game 6-3. Jake D kept over throwing his receivers all game long, was that the astute ability of the Bills awesome DB's spectacular coverage skills or a crappy QB constantly missing his targets and the Bills DB lucky enough to be behind the receiver or catch a tipped pass. News flash, this Bills team stinks, they beat three teams who's QB's were having horrid days and the wind helped shut down the Browns passing game and not the defense. Post some stats again when the Bills beat a decent team and the Bills players are actually the reason for the win.
  3. The thing that really scares me is the fact that the entire betting population took the under at the start of the year, so most figure the Bills will not win more then 7 games. That said, they go 8-8 and the Las Vegas bookies and Jauron wins...
  4. You guys think that Ralph Wilson actually cares about wins and loses... When the fans stop coming to the games and stop buying merchandise, he might sit up and take notice. In the 80's it took TWO back to back 2-14 seasons and fans in the stadium wearing bags on their heads, the stadium mostly empty and games not shown on local TV year after year. The problem with this franchise is that Wilson doesn't have any sons to inherit the team. The Colts lost Robert Irsay and he left the team to his son who promptly hired Bill Polian, Bill Bidwell is letting his sons run the team in Arizona. Personally, I think Wilson cares more about tennis and thoroughbred racing then he does about his pro football team. What other owner would have kept Dick Jauron as his head coach for FOUR years, even Detroit was smart enough to boot him after letting him be interim head coach.
  5. Does it matter who is taking snaps for the Bills behind their crappy O line, eventually their play will deteriorate as a result of constant hammering and Bills fans will clamor for a newer, better QB. Every freaking year Jauron has been in Buffalo he has rebuilt or changed several players on the offensive line, this off season he changed every player at every position. If Jauron stays in Buffalo 10 years he may eventually get it right and build a cohesive functioning unit that will actually protect the QB.
  6. This team stinks, one of the worst offensive teams in the NFL currently at 27th, St Louis-Detroit-Washington are better. The defense is LAST in the NFL against the run and 10th against the pass Special teams single handedly lost 2 games and have been horrid at times. It is a team game, nobody on this team deserves pro bowl recognition.
  7. Not for nothing but Edwards looked great in that first New England game, although he was getting hit often after every pass. Then the O line started having injuries and both Edwards play and the O line play started to deteriorate badly, Trent was literally running for his life every pass play against the Saints. Edwards is the result of playing behind a crappy offensive line, If Fitz plays behind that line long enough he will start to play just as crappy as JP and Edwards. QB's new to a team will step up and start playing boldly with not much fear, they will have some blind faith that their team mates won't let them down. Until of course they start getting hammered after every pass play, sacked, harassed and finally concussed or injured. Once teams get enough film on Fitz in a Bills uniform and learn how to defend him...
  8. 10th against the pass, you would think close to first with the amount of draft picks spent on DB's the last few years
  9. It makes perfect sense...what difference does it make if this team isn't going to the playoffs? I'd rather see them lose every game and completely rebuild then keep suffering though these horrid 7-9 seasons. This owner will never fire Jauron if the team goes 7-9 again, or even worse 8-8 and most fans will think, Hey the Bills have a winning record now and will win the super bowl next year, but they won't even make the playoffs!! The owner is currently happy because every game sells out and fans keep buying merchandise, the only way for a change to take place with this team is complete failure. So yea, with every game they win this season, the more things will stay the same.
  10. This Bills team is currently LAST in the NFL against the run...
  11. I for one am not happy they are winning The last thing I want to see is Dick Jauron going 7-9 and Wilson retaining him another year...Let's face facts, this Bills team stinks. They beat the Panthers at Carolina but shouldn't have... out gained 465-167 yds- the Carolina QB threw 3 INT's and they lost another turnover to make 4, time of possession 25:20 to 34:40. They beat the Jets at NY but shouldn't have...210 yards given up to Thomas Jones and another 99 to Leon Washington, 300+ yards on the ground only to see their rookie QB throw 5 picks. You know the old adage, even a blind squirrel can find an acorn now and again, this time he found 2, big deal. It won't feed him over the winter and he will die. I can't find solace in beating in a crappy team beating another crap team, because when the Bills face a good team they get destroyed 27-7 or 38-10. All winning is doing is prolonging the agony, and keeping the Bills from a better draft pick and better head coach.
  12. This Bills team couldn't beat a Browns team that completes only two passes the entire game, I can guarantee you that Matt Schaub will complete more then two passes if he plays. The Bills will make the Texans look like the next super bowl team and lose 34-10
  13. Fitz, meet Mr. Peppers That guy has got to be licking his chops about now, and Fitz is looking like a chicken set free in a lions den, or in this case a Panthers den.
  14. Define game plan? They study film and look at the opponents tendencies to decide which plays should work and which won't work, I'd imagine they can study all off season for that home opener. So yea, Schonert might have had some influence into the Bills game plan against the Patriots, but we don't really know how much input he had, if any. Wasn't he fired two weeks previous to the opener? Like I stated earlier, AVP called that game and Schonert had no part in the play calling. My take is the offense is better off without Schonert, that guy should have been shot for some of his play calls last season, dunno why he wasn't fired then. The play calls in that Jets game, 49ers game and all season long he had Edwards in shotgun, he didn't start using play action passing until the Cleveland game. I did backflips when Jauron fired that guy.
  15. Instead of worrying about a new, better helmet. Why not think about actually changing protections , pass plays and O linemen. Payton Manning takes the fewest sacks in the NFL for several reasons, quick release, passing plays designed to get the ball out in 3-4 seconds and and offensive line that actually can protect long enough to allow him to make plays. That concussion that Edwards suffered in Arizona, that safety came clean on him, nobody was even close to blocking him. When an offense fails to pick up a safety blitz like that one, it is a result of the entire offense failing to do its job, in a spectacular fashion. That one play changed the course of the game and the Buffalo Bills entire season.
  16. I'd be willing to bet that the game plan was installed the week previous to the game and Schonert had no part of it, besides he didn't call the plays, AVP did. Actually AVP had experience calling plays in NFL Europe and did a pretty decent job. Before you start blaming everything on Trent Edwards or AVP, take a long hard look at the Bills offensive line. The are the worst line in the NFL. The two starting tackles wouldn't make it on to most teams rosters and those two were injured for weeks. The Bills took an OT from the Packers practice squad and had him starting. The Bill currently have two scrubs at tackle, two rookies at guard and a backup center from another team, is it any wonder the offense is not as good as last season, even with TO. Roscoe Parrish is finally getting benched for Steve Johnson, should have happened weeks ago. Once James Hardy gets more playing time I think you will see Josh Reed take a spot next to Parrish on the bench.
  17. For an assistant to get FIRED just before the season starts there has to be some major malfunction and communication problems between the assistant and head coach. I know from listening to Cris Collingsworth talk about the guy, he had a huge ego... perhaps that got in his way. All I know is AVP called a brilliant game against the Patriots and a decent game against the Jets,he is learning on the job. Let's not forget that the crappy new OT's the Bills started with in week one have been injured for weeks, just got Bell back last week and the line played much better. That Saint's game Edwards was running for his life on every passing play... All I can say is I think it was the right move Jauron made in firing Schonert.
  18. The guy has been in the league long enough to know when to field a punt and when to let it go, he still doesn't always get it right. He is not a smart player, he makes way to many mistakes for a veteran KR and he stinks as a WR. I would rather someone with a brain field punts, even if they only get a few positive yards, at least they won't screw up like Roscoe has recently. Perhaps some inactive time might wake the guy up to play smarter, then again he just might be done.
  19. Good teams find ways to win, bad teams find ways to lose... The Bills are 2-4 because they suck, the offensive line is still learning and growing and the tackles still stink. The defense gave up 200 yards to Jones but still won because the opposing QB kept throwing the ball to the Bills. The Jets played worse then the Bills Sunday and lost, they were the worse team that day because that USC QB ( U of spoiled children) had never played in cold and windy weather. He will eventually learn to play bad weather or the OC will learn to stop calling pass plays, either way that win was pure luck. The ONLY good thing I see happening with the offense is that Steve Johnson will repace Roscoe Parrish and James Hardy will be back, those two could help the offense greatly. The next two games are against the Panthers and Texans, Carolina will run all over Buffalo and the Texans will throw all over them, I fully expect the Bills to be 2-6 at the bye week.
  20. If the guy had show great promise as a QB he would be starting for some team OR Cincy would have made a great effort to resign him as Carson Palmer is always injured the last few years. Defenses usually have a tendency to play differently against the back up QB simply because they haven't scouted him, so they really aren't sure what to expect from the him. That is of course unless the defense is playing "lights out" and don't change a thing and still dominate. We will get a look at what Fitz can do as a fully prepared QB, one that takes all the snaps in practice and can run the full game plan and not some simplified scheme because he is the backup. The few thing's he has going for him is Steve Johnson will see more playing time and Parrish will sit, he will also get Bell as tackle, something that Edwards didn't have the last few weeks. Good lord, he was running for his life against the Saints each play.
  21. If I were a head coach with a super bowl resume I know I'd never ever want to coach for certain teams, because the owners have their noses embedded into everything that goes on in the organization. Jerry Jones, Dallas. Daniel Snyder, Washington. Al Davis, Oakland. Ralph Wilson, Buffalo. Although Wilson is different in regards to every day operations like Davis and Jones are involved in, he will never win a super bowl because he won't allow a GM to bring in the players needed to win. Also, no matter what coach they have in place in Buffalo, as soon as a player makes the pro bowl and ascends to a higher pay scale he will be allowed to leave in free agency. Other teams used to be nightmares, the Cardinals with Bill Bidwell and the Colts with Robert Irsay. Now that those owners have passed the leadership to real football people those franchises have done very well. So,there might be some light at the end of the tunnel for Buffalo Bills fans, it just might be a while.
  22. what about now... Now that Jim Zorn had his play calling privileges taken away by the GM who hired him in the first place. The owner wants him to quit so he doesn't have to pay him next year. Sherman Lewis who was calling bingo three weeks ago and had been out of football for 5 years is the new play caller for the skins, that offense should be laughable. Also, I'm reading that Mike Shanahan is the leading candidate for the Redskins head coach next year, so If Ralph Wilson wants him he had better make a move this season.
  23. Wait until Bell gets hurt again and Fitz starts getting hammered like Edwards did the last few games, Fitz will look worse then Edwards. The Bills O line was also helped by the fact that Kris Jenkins was injured. I still wanna see Wilson fire the entire front office and coaching staff, even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now and again. This win only hurts their draft chance, they will at best screw themselves out of the top ten again.
  24. When Ralph, when?
  25. Al Davis has been over paying his draft picks like that awesome WR DHB, he is the reason Crabtree didn't sign right away
