  1. Sean Jones. If we get him I'd gladly have Whitner playing FS. I've said over and over that I think Whitner reminds me of a young Brian Dawkins. I think that he'd make more big plays from that position. Sean Jones is a hard hitting guy who makes plays on the ball from the SS spot. I think that him and Whitner would be the perfect compliment to one another.

A young Brian Dawkins? Wow, what Bills games have you been watching? What has he done to be compared to a future Hall of Famer? You must be one of those guys comparing Trent to Tom Brady after week 6 too....

  2. Great Post and why I posted a few back that said his biggest knock was his draft slot. If he was drafted 15 slots later, 90% of these conversations wouldnt happen, at least not to this degree.

His stats get knocked A LOT, but the way he is used he isnt going to be putting up INT's. His play is also greatly affected by our play up front and lack of pressure. Safeties benefit greatly from QB pressure and the ability to take away the underneath route. Whitner is not being used as a ball hawk in our system because of the weaknesses we have up front.

A great player makes plays! If he was such a playmaker, WHY IN THE HELL WOULDN"T THE BILLS PUT HIM IN "SPOTS" TO MAKE PLAYS!!?? This argument is absurd! Coaches know he has limitations! By your logic, if Ed Reed was a Buffalo Bill he wouldn't get to the ball because we don't have a pass rush? The bottom line is that since Donte Whitner has been a Bill, teams have thrown the ball 1572 times! Thats the ball going in the air over 1400 TIMES (plus/minus for injuries) when Donte is back in the secondary. He has 2 ints and 7 pass deelctions for a grand total of 9 times that he has touched the ball when it was in the air! I don't care if the Bills D sucks or the playcalling isn't "putting" him in spots, 9 TIMES out of 1400+ passes SUCKS! Quit making excuses for an average player. That being said, I am not in favor of cutting him.

  3. Pretty obvious, actually. Only an idiot would look at that and conclude that Whitner "gets blown up in the box".

And someone who never played a down in his life would look at that film and not realize that it was terrible tackling technique. I wonder if Donte was asked the question, "what happened on that play?" I bet he wouldn't use injury as an excuse.

  4. OK, you've had a separated shoulder, try to remember what that felt like. Now imagine you're on a football field with 300 pound men running around who would like nothing more than to hit you. Now, on top of that, you're separated shoulder was just hit by a 230 pound RB's helmet moments before.

You're telling me you would have gotten up without a grimace of pain, run down the field, and made the tackle?

P.S. If you're going to call someone an idiot in a post, make sure you spell check it first.

You are right, that spelling is embarrassing. Lucky I'm not an English teacher. I never said I would get up without a grimace but to lay there like he had a neck injury was overplayed IMO. Plus, you are missing the point, poor technique was the reason why he was left crying on his back, not a bum wing.

  5. I'm sorry, but this is one of the most idiotic posts I've ever seen. It's pretty clear that Morris put his helmet into Whitners injured shoulder.

To say that he stayed down due to embarrassment is asinine. Yes a separated shoulder will keep you down, and especially when someone hits you with their helmet on the shoulder that is already injured. I take it you've never had one, if you did, you wouldn't have typed that moronic drivel.

Funny that you say that because I have seperated my shoulder and I also tore my labrum on the same shoulder. My shoulder is miserable to this day but if you dont think the reason why he layed there was partly due to embassment YOU SIR, are an idiot!

  6. Just like when i saw it at the game from 11 rows up behind the Bills bench. Morris hit Whitner square on his separated shoulder. Notice how Whitner lay motionless on the field? That's because he got hurt. If someone simply got "trucked," they'd get up and go after the tackler, not lay motionless for a few minutes.

Then again, i suppose you think Kevin Everett got "trucked" as well.

You might want to watch it again. Donte tries to put his head down, Sammy gets lower and thats how that happened. Football 101: The low man always wins! And if you think the only reason that he layed there on the field was because he was hurt you are an idiot! He was embarASSed (because SM knocked him on hi A**) and he got sympathy from all of the Donte lovers. AND IT WORKED!!! A seperated schoulder is brutal but it doesn't keep you on your back.

  7. Nothing like displaying your lack of intelligence. Whiner got "run over" by Sammy Morris because morris put a helmet directly into Donte's injured shoulder. He crumpled on impact, not because he got "jacked up", but because he got smacked in the separated shoulder. Notice how he didn't get up and had to be helped off the field after that play, his shoulder hanging limply at his side.

Yeah and thats called playing football. Why make excuses for him? Its called it poor tackling technique. Sammy is 230lbs and DW is 200lbs. You dont put your head down, you take his legs out... Football 101. If you are on the field there are no excuses. Its not like that was the first time he was run over, blown by, took a bad angle or straight up whiffed on a tackle. All the Donte lovers do is make excuses for the guy! No pass rush, he was hurt, lack of talent around him. Green Bay's S Nick Collins had a great season and his defense was terrible! Adrian Wilson has played on terrible defenses but has always performed at a pro bowl level. Niether defense is loaded with talent and both teams only had a few more sacks then the Bills. Players make plays regardless of who is around them, DW is just not a very good player.

  8. I have to wonder if people just make s#it up, or are completely delusional. Whitner had 104 tackles in his rookie season, and 89 in 2007, when they had to use him more in coverage. In 2008, again, they moved him out of the box, after the bye, when Youboty got hurt. Still, despite playing in coverage for most of the year, out for 3 games, and playing injured the rest of the year, he still compiled 67 tackles.

For Christ's sake, look at the game logs. Obviously, you weren't paying attention during the games.

Games logs are not going to tell you how he gets engulfed in the box. Remember the Sammy Morris hit? Down in the box right? Yeah I know, that was probably the only time he was down in the box since the Youghboty injury. And the reason, genius, why he has made so many tackles in the past is because the Bills front seven has been awful since he has been here. Triplett, Williams, Kelsey, John D, Poz, and Ellison are not exactly making plays on the other side of the LOS. Face it, he is limited and the coaches know that. I am not saying he sucks, he's just not the "elite" safety that some MADE hime out to be. He is an average safety who will never approach greatness.

  9. The Bills have suffered from an overall lack of talent for so long that fans try to make something out of a player that just isnt there. The reason Donte isnt put into robber ("freelance" in Dean's non football lingo) type coverages is because he lacks the instincts and ball skills to make a play on the ball and the coaches know that. The reason why they stopped using him down in the box was because he was getting washed out anytime he was put there (long before his injury). The Bills fans fell in love with him and attributed a lot of the early season success to him because of his (failed) prediction and his cheapshot on the Raiders 4th string WR. The bottom line on Whitner is that he will never be an impact type player because his skill set is limited. He is small, does not play with speed and has zero ball skills. So Donte haters, lower your expectations of him! Be happy that he is versatile, generally healthy and respected leader.

  10. Kollar's new job at Houston is a promotion....he's now the Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Line Coach. I hope they like yelling down there.

I'm not that sad at all that Bill Kollar is gone. I live in St. Louis where he used to coach, and I mentioned when the Bills hired him that he yelled a lot, but I didn't see anything spectacular going on with that line. If he had a part in deciding who to keep on the DL in Buffalo, the motor guys who had a top individual number of 4 sacks....and he failed to develop John McCargo.

Remember this next year when McCargo becomes a good solid player. He did not develop under Kollar. A first round pick must contribute.

I hope they get somebody competent in there.

He yelled a lot? McCargo didn't develop because he showed up fat and out of shape year after year. He was lazy at NC State and is lazy here. A coach can only take you so far. And the rest of the Dline outside of Stroud are all backups. I could care less about Kollar because Dline coaches are a dime a dozen, they aren't teaching crazy new techniques. BTW, most coaches yell.

  11. I agree he was the best player in our front seven. But that is not saying much at all is it? The most talented defender on our roster is Ashton Yabouty. McKelvin has more athletic ability than Yabouty, but is not the corner that Yabouty is at this time.

Stroud is bigtime overrated. He gets absolutely no push on pass rush. He was decent against the run at times. But do you mean to tell me that you thought he played like a beast game in and game out? I think not.

Are you serious about Yabouty? Dude hasn't been on the field since he got here! Let me guess, you went to The Division 3 College of Ohio State. Stroud played next to K. Williams, Deney and Kelsey this year! Teams doubled the snot out the guy all year long! Please go back and watch how many times he blew plays up by penetrating the LOS. Yabouty really?

  12. Marcus Stroud had an average year at best. He had some strong quarters, but wasn't nearly a dominant force throughout any entire games except possibly the opener against Seattle. I thought he would have a much stronger presence. I would be very suprised if he received a lucrative extension.

He was easily the best player on our defense this year. Look at the weak cast that he plays with! There is not one player in that front seven that could not easily be replaced. He consistantly played on the other side of the LOS and faced double teams. While fan favorites like Poz and Whitner somehow don't face scrutiny, Stroud was the only player that WAS Pro Bowl worthy on this team. PAY HIM!

  13. Are you suggesting he was simply dancing out of joy and just happened to be close to Erin? I know you can't believe everything you see, but it sure looks like he crept up behind Andrews, on purpose, and then made his little move (whatever you want to call that). It might be called a dance, since some dances look like sexual movement, with hip thrusts. But, don't most dances involve moving of the feet?

So, we can call this a dance, if we accept that he snuck up behind an attractive and famous reporter and just decided to be joyful and "dance" right up next to her ass, and the "dance" he decided to do just happened to be one where he didn't move his feet, and thrusted his hips toward her ass like the guy from Bang Bus.

Is that the interpretation we're going with? <_<

Again, I don't think it is a major deal, but let's be real here. He wasn't dancing for joy in the vicinity of Erin Andrews.

You sound like you are a 100 years old! What is this, "Footloose"? Your "hoier than thou" BS is tired and lame. She dresses like a stripper and doesn't expect to get a reaction in a College setting? She couldn't press charges if she wanted to because he did nothing other than get a laugh at her expense, something that you are more than familiar with. Disrespectful? Maybe if this were church.

  14. Asking for it, right? Okay, I'm done here.

So predictable. Putting what Mauluga did and what you are implying in the smae category is not only dramatic, its offensive. I posted this for a good laugh and somehow it turned into a moral discussion. IF and I say IF, you really think this is that bad, please dont ever go to a Bills home game.
