  1. Meachem goes to SD to be their #1. He wasn't going to be that here, and he wouldn't have gotten paid like it either. Now if Meachem took less money from SD than we offered, that would hurt. I highly doubt that's the case. Let's remember this is a 650-yard/yr WR.
  2. That says...what? Unless he gets on a plane without a deal, it means nothing,
  3. Don't bring that stojan here without a link to back it up, please.
  4. And there's this: Yfrog.com/mgkicqp
  5. So the ESPN NFL front page has nary a mention of the developments on the Williams front. They just can't believe it might actually happen.
  6. Why are people in the Shoutbox already acting like Williams and Meachem are signed?
  7. They would never do that.
  8. Hopefully they are more accurate than, say, the Bengals website last year when they reported their signing of Li'l Donte
  9. A Jets fan on Twitter just cried, "How can the Bills sign both Meachem and Williams? How much cap room do they have?" More than you, buddy. More than you.
  10. All the jokes I expected have already made this thread, with the surprising exception of the Peter Pan dude. But I'm cautiously optimistic. EDIT: GODDAMMIT!
  11. In the pre-internet days Bob could be seen regularly at World Wide News on St. Paul Street, buying copies of all the out-of-town papers so he could crib items from real sportswriters for his column. Now, of course, he doesn't even have to leave his desk. As a radio host, though, he's a great columnist. I listen just to hear him mangle names.
  12. Jonas Jennings called. He wants a word.
  13. Might have been defensive tackle John Dutton of the Cowboys, because in that game I recall Dobler got three personal fouls for leg-whipping the guy, and on the third put him out of not only the game but the season. AND forced Dutton to have emergency leg surgery for a busted blood vessel. Dobler swore after the game that it was an "accident." If you believe THAT... He must not have paid them enough then.
  14. Oh. My. God. http://www.brobible.com/slideshows/view/cool-throwback-posters-costacos-brothers-gallery/48
  15. I had both Kelly's Heroes and Machine Gun Kelly on my dorm room wall in New Jersey. My two roommates just had to deal with it.
  16. If we are going to talk about big catches, fine. Who can remember a big postseason game from Carter? Anyone? Bueller? Carter's postseason stats: 14 games, 63 catches, 870 yards, 13.81 ypc, 2 100-yard games, 8 TD (2 in wins, 6 in losses). Reed's postseason stats: 19 games, 85 catches, 1,229 yards, 14.46 ypc, 5 100-yard games, 9 TD (7 in wins, 2 in losses). In fact, Reed had more postseason touchdown catches in ONE game than Carter did in his entire career, or has everyone forgotten the three big TDs he caught in the Comeback? Deserving, hell yes. Ahead of Cris Carter? Absolutely.
  17. It doesn't have anything to do with it. Just thought it was interesting. I'm willing to bet you can go a long way back before finding another class with a combined zero Super Bowl rings. And that's RINGS, not just appearances. I just did, in fact, and went back to the mid-70s (when SB winners started becoming eligible for the most part) before giving up. The closest I came was 1991 when no player had a ring but Tex Schramm, who did, was also a class member.
  18. Unless I'm mistaken, Andre played in four times as many Super Bowls as this entire class of enshrinees combined (Dawson: 1. The rest: zero.)
  19. But that isn't why it should have been reviewed. It was a close play in the last two minutes, and the booth is supposed to call down and review those. Harbaugh went to the line judge after the play but was blown off. Does anyone seriously think that if it had been Welker or Gronk in that position that the booth wouldn't have called for a review? Booth officials. Probably sitting in Bob Kraft's booth. That said, if it was reviewed it would have been upheld as no catch. Just not conclusive enough. What ticks me off is that there was no review at all.
  20. Except it was Wade Phillips who got Rob Johnson.
  21. Seriously, was the outcome of this poll ever slightly in doubt?
  22. I always hated the rule, being from the east side of Rochester, but it crossed into absolute absurdity a dozen or so years ago when the NFL ordered Syracuse to black out the Bills because a tiny sliver of their broadcast area (in Yates County) fell within the 75-mile radius. And got away with it. That move smacked of sheer greed, and did nothing to develop new Bills fans in that area. (Of course, the Bills themselves over the last 12 years have had a lot to do with that as well.)
  23. In '04 the Bills declined to move up from #13 to select Ben Roethlisberger, who was taken at #11. Instead they stayed at #13 and took Lee Evans, then later traded back into the first round to take JP Losman. Say what you want about Roethlisberger, but it's pretty clear that there were three franchise QBs in that first round and the Bills took the fourth.
  24. The only hope is that Dumervil gets another shot on Marsha like he had last game and knocks his head off this time.
