  1. Well we burned all of one minute.
  2. Let's not give them the ball back. Back in the day with Jimbo, getting the ball with six minutes and the lead = game over. I miss those days.
  3. Weeden now hanging his backs out to dry
  4. The only Debbie Downers are out there on that field.
  5. One sack from our vaunted front line today. And Weeden ain't exactly Mike Vick.
  6. Way to give the D a breather. Not that they deserved one.
  7. Fitz really sucks.
  8. Nobody's mentioned this so far, but it reminded me of how some of our more recent high-profile WRs (Moulds, Owens, Evans) used to pull up and look for a flag instead of trying to finish the play.
  9. Can't put it any better than TMQ put it today, can you?
  10. I didn't think we made a mistake after the game he had. It's one game. But when I heard him whining about the refs, I started to wonder. Reminds me of how Eric Moulds would go looking for a flag after every play instead of, you know, just making the play like the great ones do.
  11. Nothing personal, but I stopped reading after this. Jim would have been on any elite list in any era. Period.
  12. Long tradition, this Fifteen years on TBD Love the haiku thread
  13. Maybe this should be about changing the title of ESPN's "NEW YORK" tab rather than trying to include us under it.
  14. Tears in my eyes just watching this. Not because of all the crap we had to endure during the Lost Decade. Just because these guys were so good. And I invested every emotional fiber I had in them. Even if we ever when we win the Super Bowl, it won't feel like it would have felt back then.
  15. I still remember when Boomer rolled that one out for the first time. Anyone who comes up with a nickname like that, that the player later appropriates for himself and actually tattoos on his arm, is alright with me as a broadcaster. Wally "Absorbine" Joyner was another inspired one in my book. Okay, the schtick got old and tired - and he even admitted it by retiring the whole thing eventually - but count me among those who has good memories. Boomer is an icon. Whether he knows anything about baseball or any other sport is beside the point. Cosell was the same way: you loved him or hated him, but you couldn't ignore him. And the whole Bills fan thing - the cabbie, the wagons, all of it - still endears me to him. Tim Russert, Eddie Van Halen, Ronnie James Dio, Chris Berman ... when celebrities love my team, I love them. Sorry if that's childish.
  16. Sorry, I don't come here enough to have a running conversation, but I wanted to check to see where this thread had gone. I agree that we don't know what kind of evidence was held back, or why. All I know is that the NFL made a decision as to how much evidence it needed to release in order to support its disciplinary decisions, because it could (theirs not being a court of law). Now it is up to the PA to decide whether it is worth it to get ALL of the evidence on the table in court. The reward of finding exculpatory evidence could be outweighed by the risk of outing some of their members as having provided incriminating evidence, which would at worst end their careers and at best paint targets on their backs. Tough situation for the PA. Defend Vilma et al to the hilt and hurt other players, or protect the other players and let Vilma et al go up the river? Goodell is playing hardball. Smith will make a lot of noise but I doubt he wants to go to any court other than the court of public opinion.
  17. Quoted for emphasis.
  18. There is one very good reason why the league wouldn't release all the evidence it has (besides the fact that right now, it doesn't have to): Goodell may have promised anonymity to players in exchange for their truthful testimony. If those players' covers are blown, what kind of careers do you think they can look forward to? Even if coaches and GMs sign them, they'd be targets for other players, who wouldn't even need bounties as motivation. And if the league doesn't do everything it can to protect those players' identities, what player will ever cooperate in another investigation? The PA needs to tread VERY carefully here. You're hearing a lot of noise from them but I bet you there are a bunch of players out there who have NO desire to see this go to court and expose their testimony. And the PA represents them too.
  19. Well the talking heads were questioning whether he could play LT for them. Seems they forgot about one Long, J. Understandable as the guy was only the first pick in the draft a couple years ago.
  20. Best part is the Jets, dinged for their lack of character all offseason, do nothing to improve said perception with their first two picks.
  21. Jets get their Braylon/Plaxico. In all senses.
  22. Love that Miami had to pick up our leavings. I hope they had Glenn rated higher than Martin.
  23. Pick was in even before the Carolina pick was announced. Aaaand of course we go to commercial.
