  1. Anybody watching Jimbo talking during the Miami game? He's the man. Talkin' bout how the Gamblers and their run and shoot offense really taught him how to pass the ball.

How ironic, he is going up on the wall of dolphins staidum.

Now he's saying how miami was "Rich Stadium South" haha

  2. Number One Bills Fan you are not living up to your name. You are one of the most bandwagon fans I've seen in any sport. A couple weeks ago, you were "praising" Jauron's coaching, saying he "listened" to your posts on this board from last year. You talked about how the Chargers game was a "bellweather" game, how the bills reminded you of the 1988 team, of how the winning era was back.

Yeah, we lost 4 of 5, but because of that all hell has broken loose? Get a hold of yourself man. It is not the end of the world. It ain't over til we lose 6 games, so chill out AT LEAST until then. I'm sick of all this bitching and moaning.

I always hear how bills fans are the greatest on earth. We surely aren't acting like it.

  3. How quickly we forget our feelings. This is what the Maurader said about DJ in the middle of September:

"Cant take anyone lightly, and its great knowing we have a HC that can get the team prepared for what they are about to face. "

    http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?act=S...;hl=&st=250

    And now here's another one:

"Jauron was not my first choice.....my first choice was Jim Fassel....LOL, i know i know.....but, Jauron has made a huge impression with me, i think hes the perfect fit here....."

    http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?act=S...hl=&st=1300

I'm not trying to hate on you man, because I think you bring up valid points on this board all the time. But I think this topic is stupid. I'm not sure that I'm all for DJ, I was a little concerned when we got him, but I've never ragged on the guy (other than call him Skeletor). I've also never praised him either, both of which you have apparently done, when it seems advantageous to your cause for the day.

Just because he plays nice to the media doesn't mean he doesn't lay down the law to the players. Remember when we said how vindictive the Bills were when they IR'd Crowell? It was ultimately not DJ's decision, it was our front office, but DJ still played a significant role.

Everyone seems to forget too that both Fewell and Schonert are the same mold as DJ. Fewell (say what you want about him) screams at his players (usually explicative laden) when they do something wrong. So just because DJ keeps an even keel at least publicly, that doesn't mean he tells his assistant coaches to follow the same path. He gets his message across, even if it is indirectly.

My point is to keep the banter down about the guy, AT LEAST til we have a losing record. Everyone wanted him to be coach of the year 4 weeks ago, now you're calling for his head? You all sound like Pats* fans with the bandwagon attitude. And believe me, I would assume being called a Pats* fan would be the worst honor bestowed in sports.

  4. Not only the pick, remember the deep ball that he batted down too? I can't recall which quarter or who the throw was to (sorry I was a little intoxicated) but Greer was falling and he got about 2 fingers on the throw to make sure the ball didn't fall in the receivers hands.

I would love to lock this guy up, but the real question is, does he really want to stay in Buffalo? He was pretty ticked when we picked up THREE CBs in the draft, and signed Will James. The News did a story on it; he was out to dinner with his wife and he said he face turned white. The competition obviously pissed him off in a good way, but now when the front office needs him, do you think he would resign, or tell 'em to !@#$ off?

I obviously do not see Greer thinking twice if the Bills management ask him for a "hometown discount..." then again I might be confusing sports...only Darcy Regier seems to act in such a way; the Bills management usually overpays if they keep their guys. I think what is going to happen in March is that a bunch of teams that already have a great or above average corner will throw some big money at Greer in the offseason for a chance at a good tandem, maybe throw him between #1 and #2 money for a corner. But hey, teams have overpayed before, and they might just give him real top 5 top 10 money, just because they can.

If I was the Bills, I would try and sign him now. But then again, if he's smart he'll probably wait til March. I'd be happy with a 4 year 16-18 mil deal. Sign it, get it over with, lock him up, or he's gone.

  5. "Wilfork started his meeting with Goodell admitting a hit to Buffalo Bills quarterback J.P. Losman last season was a cheap shot, but when the commissioner started to to review the alleged late hit on Cutler, Wilfork's wife handed the commissioner the new DVD."

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3678394

This is what he said before:

“Last year, I was there, I was tripped up and falling and I still got fined and flagged for the same exact thing. But I was tripped up. I didn’t dive at anyone’s legs, I didn’t cut a running back getting to a quarterback. And when I got fined last year, they said I got flagged because you’re not allowed to hit a quarterback below the waist,” Wilfork said...."It wasn’t my fault … but I got flagged, a 15-yard unsportsmanlike for hitting the quarterback and I got fined, no if’s, and’s or but’s about it."

probably old news, but i dont remember him admitting this before. Hopefully some fuel for next week.

  6. Hmm, lets see what Greg Easterbrook has to say about Tom Donahoe:

"The Bills are still reeling from the final two years of bumbling former president and general manager Tom Donahoe; his 2004 and 2005 drafts produced just one player expected to start in 2008: receiver Lee Evans. Donahoe was also the genius who let Pat Williams go, though Bills owner Ralph Wilson strongly wished to re-sign the Ticonderoga-class defensive tackle. Donahoe told Wilson that Williams was washed up; since being shown the door at Buffalo, Williams has been voted to two Pro Bowls. Note that after being shown the door himself in 2006, Donahoe has not worked in football. Bottom line for a web of Bills trades over the past year: Buffalo surrendered the complaining Willis McGahee and the fading Takeo Spikes for Trent Edwards, Marcus Stroud and a late draft choice. That's the kind of sharp management decision making the Bills lacked under Donahoe."

  7. HOLY CRAP:

    http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/chatESPN?event_id=23290

Coach Tuesday (NYC): Mort: there is a perception out there among Bills fans that you have been overly critical of the organization ever since Tom Donahoe was fired. Any response to that notion?

Chris Mortensen: (12:11 PM ET ) I am on record as saying Donohoe's firing was silly (espeically have the late great GM John Butler explained to me why he fleed Buffalo for San Diego). I would need 1,500 words to break it down and show you why. What i don't understand is why Bills fans - whom I have had great admiration for in the past - are so mean and vindictive, and unwilling to acknoledge that even their success now is connected to the foundation Donohoe built. Remember, he inherited a franchise that had severe salary cap problems, a QB mess and was rudderless. I like Dick Jauron and I like Trent Edwards. Still, even when you look at contributing players on the team now and others around the league Donohoe drafted or signed, you will see he was capable and, not only that, a good man of integrity, a father & husband who has been subjected to too many unfair and mean-spirited barbs. One day, I will take the time to break it all down but, at the same time, not detract at all to what the Bills are doing today - winning.

He picked some great players and got some good free agents, yeah, and he did a damn good job about the salary cap mess. But what about the coaching choices? What about the fact that HE picked a QB to solve the "QB mess" as Mort calls it, and it didn't pan out. What about about the arrogant draft choices with the mentality of "I'm better than the rest of the league?" And what about the dictatorial nature of his reign in buffalo?

Mort's response is sad. He carefully says he HAD "admiration for" bills fans "in the past," which he obviously doesn't anymore. And his whining abut "mean spirited and vindictive" fans? Are you serious? You are an F'n reporter...you write mean spirited things all the time...talking about how this coach/player/gm/owner needs to get fired/head screwed on tight all the time. Writers will always get flak from whichever fan base or group of people they offend...its just a part of the business. The good one's don't take it too personally, since they say the same things to the people who they offend in the news when they see them. I can't believe this guy still has a job.

  8. Yes they do. They may get to a bowl game but there is noway they are winning the MAC this year. Ball St is heads & shoulders above every other team in this conference. They may get to the championship game but my guess is they will get their lunch handed to them by Ball ST. Ball St is ranked I believe #23 right now & would possibly be BCS eligable this year(top 12 in the bcs standings) if they could of scheduled possibly a team like Ohio St instead of Indiana(& won of course). There is just not enough meat in their schedule to rise up the rankings that high. My guess is they will end their season undefeated(including a bowl win) & be ranked about 14 or 15 when the final polls come out.

On a UB side note. I have went to three games this year(Temple, W Michigan & Army). For those of you that have not had a chance to watch Drew Willy, this kid is a pretty good QB & I think there maybe an outside chance he could get drafted in the later rounds in the spring(I think he is a senior). Kids got good size & an average to decent arm.

Ball St is #16 this year. They still might have a chance to be BCS eligible if they run the table and a few other teams ahead of them lose some games.

  9. I'm not picking on you, but I've seen this on the board in several places. Does nobody understand that we play a 4-3 defense? Your OLB's in a 4-3 are not supposed to be pass rushing stars. When teams play a 3-4, they rely on that pass rushing OLB (i.e. why Joey Porter is "suddenly" effective again playing in Miami.) He was stuck in a 4-3 scheme and it didn' suit his strengths. A 4-3 relys on the DE's to get the up field push on the outside to sack the QB. Our problem isn't at OLB, it's at DE. Our DE's are average to slightly above average but none are game changers.

The same goes for all the "Whitner Sucks" folks here. They see a player not standing out like insert productive player name here from XYZ team, but they don't understand our scheme and how it relates to a player's duties.

Ehh I understand what you are saying but not entirely true. Just because its a 4-3 defense doesn't mean you can't have pass rushing specialists as LBs on your team. For example, Seattle runs a 4-3 and Julian Peterson is their pass rushing threat opposite Pat Kerney. You are correct in what you say about scheme though, and our defensive scheme and Seattle's hardly match. But it wouldn't hurt to have a guy that has the talent to rush the QB at the LB position; that talent doesn't doesn't always have to go hand in hand with scheme....we could still get a guy that would get 6-7 sacks a year that might get 10-12 in a 3-4. Where scheme plays a factor is the speed of the guy...our tampa 2 relies on fast speedy LBs (that would have a tougher time blitzing regularly), and most 3-4 LBs are twice the size of Schobel. You did bring up some good points though.

  10. Tim Graham said he asked Whitner about it following the game, and in Whitner's words, it was "nonsense."

Here's the latest AP story, with no mention of Whitner:

Saints' Nesbit sues supplement maker after serving suspension

Likewise, I didn't find his name on the blog of Fox-31 reporter Josina Anderson, credited with breaking the story: http://community.myfoxcolorado.com/blogs/D..._Sports_Insider

Thanks Lori for the Denver story. I got nervous on Saturday because I saw that fox denver broke the story...couldn't find the link but it was reported on the buffalo bills board here -http://boards.buffalobills.com/showthread.php?t=90528

the thing is though - when I was watching the dolphins game, I couldn't image the NFL playing those United Way commericals showing Donte Whitner play with kids, preaching that they should stay "fit" if he was taking weight loss/masking agents. I also couldn't see the bills or the nfl allowing him to still be in the take a kid to school day program if he is going to be suspended.

But, the NFL has done stupid things in the past, or at least gone against a message they have tried to promote, so I wouldn't put it past them IMO.

  11. Did anybody hear anything else about the water pill test rumors that fox sports brought up over the weekend? They said it was a bunch of saints, the williams in Minn, and a bunch of other players, including Donte. I haven't heard much on this since then, and ESPN has not reported much about it, or linked Donte. Are we in the clear yet?

Sorry if I'm making a new post if its not necessary, haven't seen anybody talk about this on here yet.

  12. Just read 'Boys will be Boys'. Whoo boy Skeletor, I mean Jerry Jones, doesn't come off too good in it. Let's just say if the Hall of Fame is judging him on his business skills (oil wildcatting, marketing the Cowboys) then he might have a chance. If they judge him on the actual running of the football team (classless way he fired Landry, trying to run a draft, free agency, bringing in the yes-men coaches, turning a blind eye to how out of control his players got/get) then there shouldn't be a snowballs chance in hell he get's anywhere near the HoF.

I thought Dickie J was skeletor?

  13. “Khalidi is Palestinian. And I do know him and I have had conversations. He is not one of my advisors; he’s not one of my foreign policy people. His kids went to the Lab school where my kids go as well. He is a respected scholar, although he vehemently disagrees with a lot of Israel’s policy... To pluck out one person who I know and who I’ve had a conversation with who has very different views than 900 of my friends and then to suggest that somehow that shows that maybe I’m not sufficiently pro-Israel, I think, is a very problematic stand to take…So we gotta be careful about guilt by association.” -Obama talking to a Jewish crowd in Florida

Thought I'd add this, for better or worse.

  14. Both Lynch and the O-line are to blame. The truth is the offensive line's inconsistency hurts the overall run game. Lynch is an extremely talented athlete, but he dances too much before going to the hole. Sure, he works hard and fights for those tough yards, but Lynch needs to do more north to south running to help out the line.

His talent occasionally surpasses his running style. This is why you'll see Lynch in a game have four or five bad running plays and then burst for an incredible play. The offensive line and Lynch both have some Jekyl and Hyde in them.

    Nightcrawler

I've said before that the blame falls squarely on the shoulders of the OL. I don't think he dances too much before he hits the line, but can you blame him if he does? The line has played horribly in the 1st six games, and I think it might have changed the way Marshawn hits the hole. He might be so worried about not getting hit behind the line that when holes do open up, he uses the same style of running he used when he had an LB and a DT in front of him behind the line of scrimmage. Nothing a good week of game film and coaching can't correct.

But as I said, I don't think he dances too much; I think he hits the line hard. There were maybe 2 plays (out of 13 carries) where I thought he was hesistant, and I firmly believe it was because of the above theory. But hey, just a theory and my 2 cents.

  15. He looked like he had pretty good vision on his td run. He made 3 guys miss on that nice cut

yeah? what are you comparing it to?

Listen, BuffaloBillsfan4life responded to your preposterous comment about how "marshawn's vision was blurry" with a solid counterpoint. Anybody accusing Marshawn off poor field vision needs to check their TIVO and watch that TD run again. The dude juked out about half the defense on the run, and BB4life simply made your comment about "poor vision" look silly.

Who are you comparing it to? What does that even mean? Where did he say in his quote whatsoever anything about comparison? There wasn't a better TD run this weekend, if any comparisons are being made to that. Sounds like you need YOUR vision checked sweetie.

I think you should slowly read his screen name, figure out the meaning, and stop looking at simple box score stats to make your analysis. Marshawn is the life blood of this offense, and if our fat lazy Offensive line can figure out how to run block, he might actually live up to the expectations of being be one of the best backs in the game. But unlike Marshawn, I don't have the same expectations of you, since you obviously don't know much about football, or this team for that matter. On second thought, I think you should stop posting. It will do us all good.

  16. its not just the Donte Whitner debate. its the entire "sky is falling" mentality.

i know we just lost. Badly. to the Dolphins.

but keep some perspective here people. our entire team and coaching staff does not all of a sudden suck.

    it was one game.

Agree with you once again 100%. Guess that's why there is a little thing called bandwagon, regardless how great any fan base is. But hey, 5-2 is a terrible record or position for any team to be in, so go figure.

  17. ok, this thread makes it official, there is no good reason to be on this board until at least thursday or friday of this week.

Agreed. I am completely befuddled at the back and forth adoration and hate of Donte Whitner. It is rediculous. At first I thought the hate was only coming from this Jimmy Page bastard, but it has appeared to surge in full force on this board.

Get ready for more of Jimmy's ridiculous analysis later in the week, for it sure is coming. Any guesses who it will be targeted to this time? I bet he'll say Lee Evans is a piece of trash and Edwards plays scared.

  18. Are you suggesting that a legal hit while in the pocket is the same as hitting the QB split wide when he doesn't have the ball?

I'm all for giving notice to the other team as well. But let's do it while rushing the passer instead of the p*ssy way.

    GO BILLS!!!

I don't see how this is a puss*y way of dong it. They are playing a bush league type of offense, and their lining their QB up as a WR. He's TRYING to block, and on these plays he is not a QB he is a WR. He needs to get hit, and hit hard. I don't see how this is illegal, immoral, whatever you want to call it, and I don't see how it would be a 15 yarder. WR get blown up all the time for trying to block a CB. Chad should have been hit.
