Maybe, but we're only at year 2004 in that timeline. Reid went 4-12 in his last year in Philly.
Sorry, I missed quoting you before. Reid also had no super bowls until Mahomes. I think we have a comparable player. Where is the rest of this organization (top to bottom)? There's a psychological aspect to this too. After a while the players don't believe it. Maybe they are there now. How long is Josh on board?
-
Probaly not and we'll be having this same conversation next year. Reid lost in Philly. He didn't win until he was with KC. We're the Philly situation in this timeline.

I agree. Too many drives doing what the opposing team wanted us to. Absolutely need to get a deep threat who can win balls.
Still can’t believe some of those drops by Diggs man… That caliber of player should be coming away with most of them. They weren’t otherworldly catches to be made…
Once you box Allen into an underneath passer you’re making his supporting cast win the game, and they never have.
Why give the guy a chance to go 25-30+ yards downfield where to cover, you have to have your back to the play. Once you do, game over. He’s picking up the first.
Need to get Allen someone legit if we can, options are tough for a FA. Mike Evans might be the only option for what is needed…
Looks like drafting someone so we can run a complete offense is what’s needed.
Also wonder if he goes back to the DLine for our first couple of picks given the complete no show they’ve been with Pitt and KC…
I don’t think anyone is making excuses. They know what they get with McD.
Personally, I give him one more season. He did an exceptional job of turning this season into the #2 seed and still could have/should have won it.
He gets a final year. If you can’t get to the AFCC and be in it during the final seconds at worst, then it’s time to move on.
He has earned that parting gift.
I agree on all but keeping McD. We're going to lose a lot of pieces this year, or should lose a lot of pieces. Just as well start fresh now.

Yeah but that isn’t the actual issue. The actual issue comes down to scheme and adjustments.
Spags over there completely shut us down. The only way you can’t shut down this team is when Josh is able to get the deep ball connecting. It’s a stretch that teams go to where they play a shell with everything in front and then collapse on it.
If Sherfield or Diggs come down with any of those 4 deep shots that turned into drops/incompletions, I honestly think we win the game. KC are forced into a TD position again.
Scheme and adjustments are coaching. Our offense pounded them the first half. When they stacked the box and run blitzed in the 2nd half, no real adjustments to take advantage. We stalled out on too many drives. But still, it wasn't the offense. The defense was a joke, injuries or not. Same every year. I was out on McD last year, and I'm doubly out now. Next year, I'll be triply out as they rerun this nonsense.

The management, coaches, and players we have are close as you can get to championship quality without winning one.
We’re missing 1-2 impact players to go with Allen that step up in the playoffs. I was so disappointed when Bernard went down because I was hoping he would be one of those players. Von was brought in to be one but blows out his knee.
KC has Kelce and Chris Jones that step up for Mahomes every playoffs. Who does Allen have? That’s what we’re missing.
Completely agree on the players. We need more on both sides of the ball. Also agree that we are "close" with championship quality coaches...but they are not. Too many screw ups of all varieties. Riding the same horse isn't going to make it faster. Don't get me wrong, I like Beane and McD as people but too many mistakes by both at this point. Got to rip the bandaid off.

Hinder? People need to focus. Why do people think hitting the easy button and firing the head coach will magically help us beat a dynasty team like KC?
It’s about the players. They come up short in the big moments vs KC. Not Allen, he steps up. It’s the other guys. They have to find someone other than Allen that steps up in the playoffs consistently.
No offense, but who picks the players and coaches them? It's organizational. The players weren't the luck of the draw. It's the team the Bills built.
-
It's all been said ad nauseam. The whole organization has shite the bed. They did the best they could but it's over. There a lot of comparison's of Josh to Phillip Rivers and that's completely wrong. The comparison is to John Elway. You know how Denver finally won the Super Bowl? Yeah, they changed regimes. This is the way.

Bump for the revisions to the OP.
Bump for the moment.
Bump for St. Crispin’s Day.
Tell’em, Bill…
King Henry V: What’s he that wishes so?
My cousin Westmoreland? No, my fair cousin:
If we are mark’d to die, we are enow
To do our country loss; and if to live,
The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
God’s will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.
By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
It yearns me not if men my garments wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires:
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from England:
God’s peace! I would not lose so great an honour
As one man more, methinks, would share from me
For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made
And crowns for convoy put into his purse:
We would not die in that man’s company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.
This day is called the feast of Crispian:
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say ‘To-morrow is Saint Crispian:’
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars.
And say ‘These wounds I had on Crispin’s day.’
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot,
But he’ll remember with advantages
What feats he did that day: then shall our names.
Familiar in his mouth as household words
Harry the king, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester,
Be in their flowing cups freshly remember’d.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne’er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember’d;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day. From Henry V, Act IV, Scene III
And to paraphrase that great former child star Sandy Lyle from “Along Came Polly”…
“Hey, Stadium Wall Members, aren’t you the fans of that team that never lost again?
…you’re ***damn right we are.”
What he said. Go Bills!!!!!

I like this technique in the RZ bc once it’s over the line it’s a TD and can’t be fumbled
Trevor Lawrence was doing that for the Jags but it caught up with him Sunday and they didn’t make it. As others have said, if you get hit in the air, even if not a great hit, it stops your momentum.

Don’t like Allen jumping over the top, which he did twice. Risk for injury and fumble, plus too easy to spot the ball.

McD is a good coach, and from the outside looking in, he cetainly seems like a good guy. The players like him and have rallied here at the end to put themselves in a great position to make the SB. Those factors are in his favor. Great head coaches have to be great managers. Stylistically, you can manager in a lot of different ways and be successful. You can micromanage or you can delegate, but you have to see the big picture and adjust. And in today's world those adjustments have to happen quickly. It can't take years. I was out on McD after the Bills trotted out the same failed (in the post season) defensive philosophy/strategies/implimentation year after year. No changes, and then Frazier left, and to his credit McD took over the duties instead of hiring someone who can't run the D better than he can. That is a plus in my mind. What he hasn't done is get someone more creative on the offensive side. Daboll was a creative mind but we couldn't keep him. The big picture is that Josh Allen is the Buffalo Bills. He is one of the the most unique talents, if not the most unique talent I have seen in 50+ years of following the game. The clock is ticking on winning championships. We need the best creative OC money can buy. We need drafts designed to load the offensive side of the ball. That our receiving corp is not stronger at this point in Allen's career is an indictment. All that said...please go f'ing win it all this year. Go Bills!

There's also the possibility that the Bills-Miami game is scheduled for Sunday night and by then, we might know whether we have a playoff berth regardless of the outcome of the Miami game.
Effectively, yes. I got our chances down to 5% if we lose one of the next two depending on how things break.

This is about right.
Playing with the calculator, seems like we have smooth sailing if those Steelers at home can beat Bengals next week.
F’n bungles. Their luck needs to run out. Playing with that calculator the Bills can clinch a birth before week 18 if everything breaks right. Admittedly that’s a long shot but you never know.

If Buffalo wins the next two and drops the Miami game we have a 53% chance to get in as a wild card.

There doesn't need to be 3 Miami losses. We can get in at 10-7 with a loss to Miami with other teams dropping some games
Yes, that's right. Don't know if this has been posted but it's pretty cool tool. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2023/upshot/buffalo-bills-nfl-playoff-picture.html

Just my take, since we’re all guessing, but I think the issue is his physicality. I mentioned in a post a long time ago that I thought he could be more physical at the point of the catch. In that same vein, I think tackling, run support, etc is the problem. Zone is not the issue per se. Closing and tackling out of that could be a problem. I think McD would like him to be a little tougher.
-
Rogers doesn't like OTA's.
-
I thought Elam did pretty well in man covergae last year. He seemed to be able to maintain good contact with receivers. One area I think he could improve upon is to become more physical at the point of the catch to dislodge the football.
-
Tua seems like a good dude and I respect him. Unfortunately, he is made of glass and you can't protect your whole body when you're tackled. I guess we'll see what this season looks like, but IMO retirement is the way to go before the next inevitable major injury happens.

Both solid choices. Of the top 3 LBS, Trenton Simpson is the one I like best, though I hope they make a play for offensive help. Lots of folks griping about Addison, but I'd be happy if he fell to 27. I prefer Washington if you are trading up for TE, btw, but LaPorta is one of the top 4 and I'd be good with any of them.
I’m really ok with the top three LBs, as we may not be the top choosers but just think Campbell is limited to zone coverage. Sanders is interesting as a rusher, so could have some added value there. I think more aggression on D (per McD) means more man coverage. Beane is not so great at disguising our top pick, so right now I’d be pretty surprised if it isn’t a LB. I guess could be WR and come back for a LB, but don’t really like the value. Perhaps IOL in the 3rd and then whatever’s left. Will be interesting this year. Would be great year for a trade back but not really Beane’s MO.

Trenton Simpson LB, who is the best of this year’s crop IMO. Fast and versatile.
Then I believe Beane will trade back up in the second round and take Sam LaPorta TE. Good all around TE. Gives Josh another weapon. Worthy of the pick in a weak draft.

It’s a bad class. Campbell is highly overrated on these boards he’s a mid to late 2nd rounder in my opinion and drafting him at 27 would be a waste.Agree with this take 100%. Campbell is a more traditional (meaning old school) MLB. He's not covering anyone in the pros man up with success. He's lacks quickness with his long legs. He'll get double moved to death. Simpson from Clemson or Sanders are better prospects if you want a cover backer.
