  1. I thought of Fromm as no lower than a 3rd round prospect, so to get him in the 5th is a steal. I felt sure the the Pats* were going to draft him as he fell. I felt he was a perfect fit for their short passing game. People comparing him to Barkley are off base. Watch some tape of Barkley and you will see “moon balls.”  Fromm, while not the greatest athlete, is not that guy. He played against NFL caliber players his entire career and won. This pick is nothing but upside, even if the end result is only a quality backup.  This is a pick smart GMs make. The investment is next to nothing and the return potential is huge. You could easily make the argument that backup QB is the 2nd most important position on the team.

  2. How to put this politely?  Cam is a “nutjob” and the last person any sane GM or coach would want leading their team. He had a few good years when he could run, but those times are long gone. His passing has always been average.  His current value is name recognition and nothing more.

I think us and Chiefs and Ravens are the teams to beat. I think Tannehill comes back to earth and Henry gets hurt. Always happens when a back gets paid. I think the Raiders are a bit of a sleeper. I really like the Mariota fit there and their defense is improved.

t's likely (thankfully) to not be 3%.  Here is something from Harvard.  https://slate.com/technology/2020/03/coronavirus-mortality-rate-lower-than-we-think.html

That said, one death is too many, and curve flattening is a great idea.  Panic, no.  Cancelling things like the draft that can be done entirely remotely: also not a great idea.  Cancelling actual sporting events: good idea.

Going to bars: bad idea.  Ordering delivery: a good idea to help restaurants and their employees.

Keep your heads on, get facts, keep your distance, but don't hide in a room full of toilet paper like some people appear to be doing.

Good points all.  I read the Harvard article and what they are saying certainly makes some sense.  However, remember that according to their own theories, the death toll should be higher at the beginning of this, as the most vulnerable people may die, and then lower as the disease will have a healthier population to deal with.  Also, don't forget about possible mutations.  No one knows how the virus may change.  I agree that people should not be panicking and agree with you 100% that we should all keep our heads on straight and follow prudent precautions.

...according to CDC, stats for 2017-2018 flu season in US.............

    ILLNESSES:     45 million

    HOSPITALIZATIONS:     810,000

    DEATHS:    61,000

If 45 million people get the Coronavirus there would be 1,350,000 deaths at a 3% mortality rate, which I believe is the current figure floating about.

Also throw in KC and Philly.

and Denver.  This stuff is annoying to hear all the time.  Too many other places with the same type of weather, and quite frankly, what I think of as football weather.  If you want nice weather watch baseball.  The cure is winning a championship then it becomes the "Frozen Tundra" and the players become warriors who repel the cold while their foes succumb to it!  Didn't some of the old Bills go sleeveless as a psych-out gesture?

Come on, iin, you can't say that and then not give it!

I had us, barring anything crazy happening, at 10-6.

EDIT:  damn, I am just not sure where that other road win is coming from.  I don't know about going 7-1 at home, where 3 road wins would be OK.  I still think the path, right now, is 6-2, and 4-4.

...and no, this is not analytics and I didn't mean to beat up on those people, its just that I am a bit fatigued over it.

This is good ole fashion, wins losses, offense and defense talk, just like our dads used to do!

I think the Titans game would seem to be the easiest of the remaining road games other than Miami.  Cleveland and Steelers could be tossups.  Dallas and New England the most difficult.  If we can take care of business with Miami and Tennessee , might be able to steal one more somewhere on Allen's back.  My prediction is 10-6, thinking same as you early on 6-2 home and 4-4 road.

  8. After playing the game with DTV for about 8 years to get discounts, it is finally over. I quit this year (had done this in the past too) to get Sunday ticket and it looks like they called me on it this time. No attempt to try and keep me. So, no more DTV and I'm not getting cable back either. Going with streaming (fire stick) and regular antenna. 99% of the TV we watch is on Netflix or Amazon Prime. I think I'll get Game Pass and can watch the games that way.  So long DTV. I won't miss you and this yearly headache!

”Why Leadership Starts and Ends with Relationships with Carolina Panthers Coach Sean McDermott”

    https://learnloft.com/podcast/why-leadership-starts-and-ends-with-relationships/

This podcast interview is one of the reasons why I was so excited when the Bills hired McDermott. Great listen IMO.

Building and fostering relationships improves productivity at work and at school.  There is lots of research to back this up.  Those who are hung up on the X's and O's need to do a little reading in this area.  All 32 of the head football coaches in the NFL understand X's and O's.  The coaches who are successful over the long haul build teams.

I “met” Bart Starr as a boy reading “Instant Replay” by Jerry Kramer.  Imagine those and other titans to a nine year old.  Starr was a Brooks Brothers navy blue blazer on that checkered plaid team of all stars and hall of famers.  Flustered, one day, in the huddle and with all eyes on him, he told a teammate what he thought of him.  He finished with “... and stick THAT in your diddy bag!”.   Starr couldn’t curse, yet he never lost the room with the biggest and baddest.  It was a different time, and I’m grateful it formed me.  Rest In Peace, Mr. Starr.

I loved that book and I loved the Packers in those days.  One of the best football books ever written.  Very sad about Starr but very happy Kramer made it into the HOF.  He was long overdue.

  11. He was my favorite player as a kid.  I drew a picture of him playing football and my uncle told me to send it to him, so I did. He wrote a brief note back along with two signed 8x10 glossies. Great, great guy. Condolences to his family.

We have zero DEs under contract next year so some edge guy will get overpaid by us and every free agent knows it. I would rather take the guy who is a top 5 player who is actually on the upswing than take the retread like Jerry who is on the downswing. Let's take our money and get a true impact DE who can play all along the line and even cover some people. I would give the 1st up and I guarantee that is why we haven't done the deal. We have a fairly young team after Shady, Lorenzo, and Gore leave so the time is now to show we intend on winning now, not five years from now. We have a lot of positions that are cost controlled with the next big deal really not coming until we have to get 27 his money. Every good team pays an Edge, #1 WR, QB, ShutDown CB, LT, and a few impactful players sprinkled in. Everyone else is expendable or rotated around. We need a #1 DE and possibly a WR1 and we can't draft both next year if we go 8-8 or better folks!

I think the fact we aren't giving the first pick says one of 2 things:

    1. Houston wants more assets than the 1 that we wont give. Maybe a 3 or a decent player like a Milano.

    2. We think we might be 6-10 again so we are afraid to part with another top 10 pick. This second option seems unlikely, but what if there is closed door concern about Josh Allen still?

I don't think Clowney is rated top 5.  Not sure he is top 10.
