  1. Have a little class, professional journalist John Wawrow. Want to hear a witty put down, John? You were not invited out to dinner with me tonight! What a gas that line is! I bet you have to be a professional journalist to come up with something like that. In fact, I would say it is a wide-ranging band, except I have no idea what you are referring to. I guess if I was a professional journalist, I would understand it. You mentioned a couple days ago you were going out to dinner with Jerry Sullivan tonight. Can I come next time? I sure am glad to have an unbiased professional journalist like you around, one who will speak the truth even when it may conflict with his personal life. Either way, John, I think I will see you around town sometime. I am really looking forward to meeting a real professional like you.
  2. I provided a transcript of the conversation, which shows that the conversation did happen as I described it. I am not an insider. I know a couple players personally. I am not Skooby.
  3. John, you are trolling and lying under what I assume is your real name. Think of your career. For God's sake stop embarrassing yourself. You have a dozen posts on this subject repeating the same thing, which is not true. I posted the conversation. I provided exact quotes. Sully said what he said. For you to say otherwise makes you a liar. I have tried to be respectful with you. I am embarrassed for you. PLEASE STOP TROLLING.
  4. It shows that he has given the issue plenty of thought. But that would only be due diligence.
  5. I guess I forgot he is a Pats* fan. Before I was bemused at his behavior. Now I'm pissed off.
  6. John, please stop trolling my thread and saying the same thing. Other posters should have a chance to be heard too. I have already asked you.
  7. John, at this point you are trolling. Please stop polluting my thread. Bobblehead, 6-2 after eight? We have a shot at it.
  8. John, you can try to spin this any way you want, but anyone who reads Sullivan knows every year he says the best thing for the team is to lose and get a higher draft pick. You don't think he meant something else, and we all know that. So far as I am concerned, you continue to dig yourself down to his level. You have expressed your opinion about my schobel story to me probably a dozen times now. Please stop. Wawrow, I have enjoyed some of your articles. But after this petty name calling back and forth, I dont respect you at all. Only one of us is attempting to mislead people. You might be worse than Sullivan. Sullivan is a troll, and we all know it. You are a nag who will debase himself to defend the troll, even against some guy with a manicorn icon online. I did not want to call you names, because I expected more reasonable discourse from you, but what I got from you was childish insults and mendacious spin. You aren't any better than the worst trolling posters here.
  9. I think the pats look for guys like that.
  10. Come on, man, I don't care if he agrees with me. Every year he says maybe we should hope the bills lose to get better draft picks. I just cant stomach that. Ok, Thurman, if you think that is professional, you can have your opinion.
  11. Kelsay, ellison, fitzy. Yup. Hardy, chambers, yup. I think Lynch is replaceable, but maybe it doesnt make financial sense to. Clearly, maybin should have never been signed. I think Simpson is a very good player, and was impressed with his limited playing time at Indianapolis. But he is similar to spiller and freddy and not so much like Lynch, who is more powerful. I think he gets cut despite his efforts. Ellis fits our needs so well, and they say he has been improving, but I am just not convinced. I dunno about youboty. I have been impressed with him every year until he gets hurt.
  12. We know Whitner is a great cover guy, and for a safety he is outstanding in man. He doesn't play center field and get interceptions like Byrd. He is a cautious defender.
  13. Wawrow, I feel I have described the discussion accurately. Sullivan went on and took shots at the bills in other ways. He sounds like mpl6876. You have missed some context as well, but I do not know how to link the entire conversation, even though I saved it. Your personal crusade against me is getting old. You know full well everything I have said on this site about Schobel is true, and you still take shots at me on other threads. You have resorted to petty name calling with me. I am surprised you do this because you are a professional journalist. Go on, call me an untrustworthy blowhard again. I would have expected more from you, but after your defense of Jerry Sullivan in this and other posts, I should have known better. You have misrepresented my remarks, taking my statements out of context. Only one of us is untrustworthy. Here are his extended remarks on the subject in the proper context. Consider there is a two minute delay from when I type an answer to when it shows up. Sully: OK, sorry for the delay. My kid's haircut took forever and the system is slow. Friday August 6, 2010 3:15 BuffaloGal 3:17 Sully: Jauron was the worst I ever saw, so you don't need much of a sense for it. The fact that Gailey is an offensive guy who has been a coordinator and a head coach suggests he knows how to think on his feet on the sidelines. I can't be "they need to bottom out" guy in early August. What's the point of all the offseason if its just "wait for next year" in Week 1? It's a really, really short 16 weeks. Friday August 6, 2010 3:21 Steve In Buffalo 3:23 Sully: Hey, the draft previews will begin any time now. That's the world we live in. If you have a sensible, long-term perspective on this team, you should be interested in the quarterback crop in college because your next playoff win might depend on one of them. What's wrong with that? You don't have to write off the season. Let's face it, the NFL relies on fans believing any team can go from bad to the playoffs in a single year. The Bills simply don't have the roster for that. Friday August 6, 2010 3:23 Sully 3:23 [Comment From Pete Pete: ] Do you see this as the begining of the end for Darcy? Friday August 6, 2010 3:29 Chris 3:30 Sully: You could make a lot of Sabres available to the highest bidder without any other team biting. I think some team will sign Kennedy and be happy with him. Ralph always talks about how hard it is to keep it afloat here. Larry Quinn talks about it too. It seems both franchises hold the existence of the teams hostage against their fanbase. To quote V.O. Key-politics is about choice. We don't have true choice, either we have crappy teams, or no teams at all. I don't think that's very fair. Friday August 6, 2010 3:43 Joe from NYC 3:45 Sully: We were wondering about you, Joe. Yes, I know Shaq is a bad pick and roll player. I thinke they will find a way to maximize his fading talents on offense and help him out on the defensive end. Remember, the Celtics have 4 players who were better than any of LeBron's supporting cast last season. Boston isn't deluded into thinking Shaq is anything more than a bit player at this point. On a per minute basis, he was still a very effective scorer last year. They're not role models. Bill Clinton was a fabulous president by almost any metric you want to judge, and he was arguably a pretty terrible husband. His actions as president matter more to me than his as a husband. I don't need athletes to teach me how to act, or not to act. I have good parents, ya know, actual role models. Isn't this exactly what happen after Wade Phillips got fired and people in the media/fans were glouting about Greg Williams blow horn practice sessions. And in a ironic twist, people were saying the same thing when Phillips took over in Dallas and were cheering for his laid back approach that Parcells use to have. It's the same game, if Gailey fails in Buffalo and the Bills hire some guy with a NYC accent, fans would be happy because it's different. Bottom line: Its the same players as last year, so no parade for me. Friday August 6, 2010 3:52 Joe from NYC 3:54 Sully: You're not a cynic. I think of it as being a realist. Look, I think the Bills need an injection of energy and some of them need a good kick in the rear end. But your main point is well-taken. A lot of training camp is pure hype and it can't cover up for an overall lack of talent on the roster. People need a reason to be optimistic. I understand that. It's not my job to feed into it. You know what the problem with trading Stafford and Pominville is? You will get less in return. They have an upside but have been wildly inconsistent, other teams know that. Same with Connolly. Friday August 6, 2010 4:04 Sully 4:04 [Comment From Joe from NYC Joe from NYC: ] Sully, Why are Sabres fans kind of stupid? I swear, they always find a silver lining in everything. People are talking about how this whole TK saga was about picking him over Tyler Ennis. If the Sabres didn't like TK, why didn't they just not bring him to arbitration, better yet, why the hell did they not offer Cody McCormick a two-way deal? Think about, Larry Quinn is a minority partner and I'm sure he'd make some pretty nice coin on the bass pro deal that he helped broker. And we all know that Tom Golisano is Quinn's buddy, and probably was convinced to invest in some of that. Friday August 6, 2010 4:04 Joe from NYC 4:05 Sully: You're not the first one to suggest that Quinn might have acted during a particularly spiteful moment after Bass Pro. Nothing would surprise me. They didn't make any significant changes to the core of this team after they said they would. All they did was work on the edges. That's not making this team better. However, cutting TK will have no effect on this team. Friday August 6, 2010 4:07 Chris
  14. I think because we dont have stars at some positions, and because camp is largely a time for teaching, our offense is going against more depth players than usual. However our defensive backfield depth is awesome. I read that all the receivers were learning all the receiving positions, an idea I like very much. You have to run the route in the other guys shoes to know where he is going to be. My high school coach had everyone play every position. As a running back, I knew just where my offensive linemen would be, because I had run the plays in their place.
  15. Dick didn't have a jumbo package. That means an extra tackle, and a fullback. You can play freddy or spiller offset as a wing and still have three wide receivers. There are so many more opportunities for playaction, screens, and different blocking schemes. It protects the weak side, too. We have flexible players in Schouman, Jackson and Spiller. The dolphins have adapted this offense well. If we get a lead, I want to see us keep it.
  16. Come on, you have to enjoy Ryan's optimism. He makes it more fun.
  17. I think it is funny that he thinks Schobel was not joking about his kids not liking him. Aarons kids like him just fine. If he knew Aaron, he would have known he was joking. So I guess he was right in that he did not know him.
  18. I just got done with a live chat on the Buffalonews site with Jerry Sullivan. Sully predicts the bills can look forward a 4-12 season this year, and seven and nine next year. As a goal. He said we are more likely to be the worst team in the NFL than make the playoffs. He also said the best thing for us is to lose as many games as possible to get a higher draft pick. Sully: "You're a fan. Set your goals high. But understand that the best thing for this franchise is to get a high draft pick in a year where there might be several franchise QBs available." Me: "I have more pride than to hope the bills lose to get a higher draft pick. If you think that, I dont believe you respect the game of football at all." Sully: I'm not asking you to hope they lose. You obviously don't grasp the fine points of the argument. Sorry for not "respecting" your favorite game. You can't even present a literate screen name. Get out of here, you cretin. He then banned me. Why do we have to suffer this lack of professionalism from our journalists? We may only deserve to win a five games. But if we work hard, stick together, and with the fans and the weather on our side, we can pull out a few more. Football is an emotional game. Anything can happen. We could be better than we think. We can win every game we play. Losing games on purpose is not even allowed in the NFL. Nobody with any respect for the game wants a team to go out and throw the game. It is just wrong. Sullivan also cheats at golf.
  19. I have a hard time respecting cops, much less moose-mounted ones. I havent done a lot of interspecies dating, and moose girls are such hicks, but I could get up on an young moose cow from behind and make some chocolate mousse, thats for sure.
  20. Even before the draft hype, spiller, troupe, and Kyle Calloway were the guys I wanted. I am deliriously happy with our picks.
  21. I am astonished, Fezmid, at every single thing you have written. I will take from this conversation not to make assumptions about how other people may feel about things. I thought that fining cute little girls at lemonade stands would be something everyone is against. I have been enlightened.
  22. You are welcome here, brother. And sorry about tom. He has some problems that should be his own.
  23. How are we producing people whose loyalty to the absurdity of the state is greater than their instinct to protect children? I just bought some lemonade yesterday for five cents. However the little girls explained that the profits went to Roswell Cancer institute, and I know their mother would enforce that, so I spent my last two dollars on it. If that isnt the sweetest thing... Jack and Fez, I honestly think you guys are sick. I am not trying to make fun of you, but that is how I feel. I dont want to live in a world where children cannot sell lemonade. You guys are just creepy. By your rules, boys cant mow lawns and girls cant babysit, unless they are old enough to work and pay taxes.
