CFLstyle Posted January 1, 2009 Share Posted January 1, 2009 that's the beauty of the bills model, no one is accountable Modrak supposedly is the talent evaluator but it's not his fault that the Bills rated POZ so far ahead of Harris that they traded a premium pick to move up. or that being tall made Hardy that much better a WR than Eddie Royal or Donnie Avery? who sets the priority that OL should be ignored at the top of the draft - Modrak or Dick. If Dick is setting priorities, he should not be allowed the free pass that his players are not good enough. If Modrak is responsible, he should be gone. The clown show at OBD will continue to baffle and amaze come draft day. The draft is a science. It's not as easy as you make it out to be. Who knows, in 3 years Hardy could just be turning into that dominant physical receiver the Bills need. It's not the same as Madden. Modrak knows talent, but may hang around in his Vilano Beach house too much, according to some. I think having Modrak take a bigger role in the FO would be a positive thing, but I don't believe he has any interest in it. At some point in time, they may have to replace him, if he is as detached as some are saying. He plays an important role in the "team management" approach the Bills have chosen to use, so he will stay until they get a real GM, IMO. That is the CABLE talking dean.... I pray to god that whoever is getting overidden actually gets a say in this upcoming draft..... Linemen....linemen...and more linemen...... The first round picks have been disappointing, but the third round picks and later have been solid. am i mising something here regarding our first round picks? the last 3 years mckelvin,lynch and whitner those guys are not good picks. i think they were great picks. i dont understand you guys. In fairness to Whitner & Mckelvin they are playing behind a froint 7 thats get NOOOO pass rush...put either on the Ravens and they will be probowlers - look how well Bills cut Jim Jeonhard is playing safety for the Ravens. Ofcourse this is the Bills whole problem...they have put the 'cart before the horse' in drafting - you must first draft to build up your lines (see patriots) and then when lines are established then go for skill position away from the ball.....misunderstabning this is the #1 reason why Tom Donaho is out of work Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Given the generally miserable results of all those drafts, why does he escape any blame? He participates in the process and the evaluations his department comes up with are what everyone bases their opinions on come draft day. I am not saying it is all his fault or even mostly but somewhere along the line, he has to accept some responsibility. After all is said and done, the one common thread in all these miserable drafts has been Modrak. There I said it, I sullied the sacred. He was not part of the 2001 draft. He came after that. The clown show at OBD will continue to baffle and amaze come draft day. I think our drafts in the later rounds have been respectable. It's the 1-3 rounds that have got me upset. I think that reflects the everything by committee approach taken by the organization recently. There are no exciting picks IMO - the last one was McKelvin and the one before that was Evans. But the other picks I think have been safe rather than a chance at excellence. I just can't imagine this version of the FO selecting Darryl Talley for example. Nor perhaps even Thurman Thomas. The single most important criteria for working in this organization currently is that you have to be able to get along with the owner.
