After Roger Moore quit I lost interest because I didn't really care for the pretty boy Timothy Dalton playing Bond. Daniel Craig has returned to the Connery type grittiness that takes him back to cool. With the release of three of the original four opening Bonds, on sparkly Blu-ray, I now see Connery as the Real character. I've watched Thunderball 4 times in the past month and FRWL five times. I am in a new frame of Bond mind. I love Pierce Brosnan with all of my heart, he was God on Remington Steele, but unless he's in a tux, I laugh at some of the tough guy stunts he performs. I think Craig is as close to Connery as any other actor has been. When I was growing up Moore was my Bond as well. Still remember going to the Odeon Theater(a one screen movie house LOL) in Burlington, Ont to go see Live And Let Die. Jane Seymour was one of my first tastes of lust in puberty!! Not as perfect as Gizmondo describes it but it seemed to be a pretty typical Bond flic to me. My biggest complaint was the title song. Maybe the worst ever. And Bond movies are ALWAYS supposed to start with that little scope ball following him and he shoots it. Blood flows down. Should never mess with tradition like that. To me they have definitely taken a step toward Bourne territory - but I actually liked that aspect of it - and even the story kept me interested. Now you're talking James Bond. Many years ago (10-15) I proposed a way to make James Bond matter again. Let's face it, the franchise is old, boring and irrelevant. It also has a limited audience. While it is too late for him now, the best thing would have been to get Denzel Washington to play James Bond...the American son of the original Bond...a product of a dalliance between James and one of the Nubian lovelies he crossed paths with. Expands the audience, makes it somewhat relevant again (as James would have a whole host of different issues to deal with), breathe some soul into the franchise, if you will.
