I agree...Jerry Rice....Bobby Chandler..art monk....none of them speedburners-esp in the 40. Can the guy play WR?? Football ability is not the same as track and field ability.

The slow times are more an indication that his knees may be shot.

A WR with chronic arthristis in his knees is almost as valuable as a WR with bad wrist or bad rap sheet.

just say no to 1st round WRs

Earl Bennett or Jordy Nelson will do just fine.

Peter Warrick was, by many accounts, projected to be the #1 overall pick before he ran his 40s after the 1999 college season. He was one of the better college players I've ever seen, and he made the FSU offense look great. But he ran about a 4.6 or in the high 4.5s, roughly, and people expected him to be much faster. Red flags were raised, but the Bengals went ahead and drafted him anyway in the top 10. When he got to the NFL, lo and behold, he had problems separating. He had a few OK seasons -- not dissimilar to Josh Reed's -- but his ypc was in the 10-11 yard range. He was one of the more highly touted WRs coming out of college in the past ten years.

On a related note, Peerless Price was pretty fast coming out of college -- 4.45 or so -- but he's clearly around a 4.6 or so now, which is why he's not nearly as good a player as he was a number of years ago.

Speed matters, and it matters more than ever as the CBs, safeties, and LBs keep getting faster.
