McGahee's Deal

Recommended Posts

McGahee's Deal: Hours after completing a trade for Willis McGahee the Ravens reached a new long term deal for the player. He signed a seven year deal worth $40.12 Million. The last two years are option years, without those the deal is for five years and is worth $26.42 Million. It's a heavily backloaded deal but does include a $7.5 Million signing bonus and another $7.5 Million in guaranteed money, $6 Million next year and $1.5 Million in 2009. McGahee said he's looking forward to a fresh start in Baltimore.

It is a very reasonable deal. One that shows that he was not asking for anything out of line (especially when you compare it to what we are paying Dockery). The Bills easily could have signed him to an extension if they had wanted to do so.

a. i dont think he is worth 5yrs/$27mil to us

b. i dont think he would have happily signed in Buffalo for that money either

What if he did not want to sign here? Don't you think there is a strong possibility that he was not going to re-sign with the Bills under any circumstances?

His agent approached the Bills about an extension so that he could stay with the Bills. The Bills apparently declined.
