DrDawkinstein Posted January 17, 2007 Share Posted January 17, 2007 For a board that ran Donahoe out of town, you guys are following right in his footsteps with this "sexy" pic. if ol Tom were still here and everyone was (still) threatening to not renew their tickets, all he would have to do is pick Lynch and you'd all be fooled again. and the bills will be 6-10, again. stop being silly. we NEEEEED defensive help. help that will not be completely found in FA. people that say #12 is too high to pick Willis, or at #12 you pick the biggest talent on the board are just following Donahoe's draft techniques. and we all know how well THAT builds winning teams. get ready for Marv to sit at 12 and pick the player who will come in and make a difference right away. no matter his name or position or whether Mel Kiper and the rest of you have heard of him or not. There are way too many variables and scenarios to occur between now and then and during the rest of the draft for this to be the case. Marv wouldn't become Donahoe simply by drafting Lynch. That is oversimplifying both Marv's and Donahoe's approach to being GM. This being said, I too expect Marv to draft someone that no one expects and for that person to contribute immediately and fit into our respective offensive or defensive schemes very well. Exactly. marv will "pick the player who will come in and make a difference right away". could be DE, DT, CB, OL, or RB and Lynch. The one thing I am pretty certain it won't be is WR unless C. The only way most of you people will be happy is if the Bills pick up a guy from a WNY high school, who went to UB, is clearly a "Buffalo guy" (whatever that means,) was undrafted, runs for 2100 yards per season, catches 65 passes for another 800 yards, scores 22 TD's, has zero fumbles but five fumble recoveries, donates his $475,000 salary to charity, negotiates his own contract without an agent and never asks for a raise, and most importantly, NEVER gets a girl pregnant. Of course, he probably has trouble picking up the blitz and therefore will be flamed on message boards and talk radio until the next RB is cycled through. I agree. It really doesn't make much sense to use a precious resource like a 1st rounder on an RB if yours is serviceable. It's not clear how much of an upgrade Lynch would be in his first year over McGahee, anyway. And if the line can't block, you can put Thurman back there and he wouldn't reach 1000 yards. If McGahee is a goner, take a shot on a possible replacement in the 2nd or 3rd rounds, where plenty of talent at RB can still be found. Or, better, draft a RB next year, when he goes to Miami or wherever. But by all means fix the OL, DL, and MLB (since Fletch will leave) this year. That's what this team needs to win NOW. Not another RB or WR - it's the sexy/Donahoe pic to fill the seats in the begining of the season, only to see them empty later on, since the OL can't block and the DL can't stop the run. What good would a new WR be? If the adversary don't respect our running game, it doesn't matter who your WR are. See the Pats playing. Who are their WRs? But their line is giving Brady time. And how is having the ability to run the ball sexy? Like Marv say, you need to be able to run and stop the run. We'll be fine at running back. We CAN'T stop the running game. Okoye. Just like last year I was saying Ngata. While Whitner is a fine addition to the team and a worthy #8 pick, if we had picked Ngata we'd have been in the playoffs this year. We pick Okoye we'll be in the playoffs next year. I wouldn't guarantee we'd be in the playoffs, but definitly no worse then last year at 7-9. All we could guarantee is that Bill wouldn't have taken about 7 years off his life yelling at Marv through his TV on Draft day for not addressing the lines first, and we would be drafting a Safety first round this year. A WR, TE, DE, FB, QB would be a sexy pick. with a little improvement at O-line and a little contract-year motivation, our running game is more than adequate. losing a bunch of starters to FA on a defense that already cant stop the run is the biggest issue on hand for the bills.
