It's the #1 reason Losman holds on to the ball so long and can't find anyone open; no one is open! Case is point: Saints rookie Marques Colston was largely unheralded and drafted in the 7th round. But at 6-4 231 his obvious size advantage is helping to run away with rookie of year honors as he is leading the league w/ 7 TDs and he's only 50 yards short of leading the league in yards too. Please Marv wise-up: smaller high-motor, high-character smurfs can only get you so far these days. If you have a good line, then you can do many things....If you have small WRs then you can do the hitch and run passes, or put them in the slot and get YAC.. If you a physical WR then you can let them beat double coverage and outjump CBs to pull down the pass....But to do any of those, you need a good OL. The difference they have guys with names like reggie wayne, gabriel, owens, gates, ben watson, plaxico who because of their size and physicality are always effectively open. How about defensive tackles that don't get pushed off the ball as often? Have our DT's generated 1 sack or even a few tackles for loss? Tripplett is yet to be noticed and could end up being labeled a "bust" by seasons end. He is sooooooooo familiar with the cover 2 right? Then how come he's making the least impact? How about having more than 1 dominant O-lineman ("dominant" may be a stretch also) How about a HB with breakaway speed? WM can be productive but he is not a home run threat from 30+ yards out. And we all know how dreadful it is once the Bills 'O' gets in the red zone. It's just dissapointment and shame usually followed by a Lindell FG. As someone else pointed out in another thread, 3 of the 7 draft picks were used on the secondary and it appears that next year it will remain very weak. I've said that a bonified #2 is something that the Bills need "down the road", howvever, that scenario is two or three years away unless they get Marques Colston lucky!! NOT TOO LIKELY!
