I bet the Bengals are licking their chops over Sam Adams.

Since he won a Super Bowl under the tutelage of Marvin Lewis, you are probably onto something.  Despite his age, Adams still has a lot of football left in him.  The Bills released him because he is not a Cover 2 defensive tackle.

Cover 2 doesn't dictate what kind of front you play, it's a secondary alignment.

You are correct, but the KEY to cover two is getting a push from your D-line even if you don't blitz. Sam Adams gets a killer jump off the ball, and would do well in the cover-2.

Sam Adams would do well in any alignment, he's just one hell of a DT. It pissed me off when we lost Ted, it pissed me off when we lost Pat, and now it's just as irritating to lose Sam. It seems like such a simple formula that we keep pissing away everytime we get it right. You get 2 monsters in at DT and we establish a dominant defensive unit. Unless we get 2 really top notch DT's back in here via FA/draft, we can expect to get gashed in the run game yet again the way we did this past year and going back to '01-'02 when our defense was awful.
