Realistically who should be our #1 target in FA?

Assuming ESPN's cut list is accurate, I target Jeff Hartings or Kevin Mawae after someone dumps too much cash on Bentley. Hutch is also a solid target who will cost some money. We only shop at the top of the market if Moulds is cut. If that happens try to eke out a few years from Jimmy Smith ala frank Lewis or Bill Brooks with an incentive laden contract.

Definitely Shaffter.  Bentley isnt going to happen, it would take far too much money to sign him and he'd end up being our only FA move all offseason.

 

Get Shaffer, solidify the LT position for the next 5 years.  Then go after Toniu Fonoti (Guard) or Justin Hartwig (Center) to give us another starter along the O-Line.  Whatever position we didnt sign a new player for in free agency, make it our 2nd round pick in the draft.

He'll get a ridiculous contract because he's a young LT and a month later Pete Prisco will write a story about guys who didn't deserve their big contracts and he'll be on the list.
