Ralph v. Wade -- The $750,000 question

Former Buffalo Bills coach Wade Phillips and his former boss, owner Ralph C. Wilson Jr., appeared before a National Football League arbitrator for several hours Wednesday.

Phillips is contesting he should be paid the remainder of his contract with the team. Wilson, however, contends Phillips should not be compensated because the coach quit after last season and was not fired. Phillips was paid $200,000 of the $950,000 he was scheduled to make for this year when the Bills stopped payment.

Jay Moyer, an arbitrator for the NFL, heard testimony from both parties Wednesday but a decision is not expected for several weeks.

Because you have no idea about the history of this franchise. Who was the coach in 1967 who took over for Lou?

Ah, the good old days.....

1962-1965: Lou Saban

1966-1968: Joe Collier

1968: Harvey Johnson

1969-1970: John Rauch

1971: Harvey Johnson

1972-1976: Lou Saban B-)

Good grief...

I had no idea that so many Bills fans would support reaching into the past for answers.

This has become absolutely pathetic.

Remember, Ralph fired Wade and it was a bitter parting.

He might as well hire back Tom Donahoe.

Kirk Ferentz.

Wade Phillips is one those "outstanding coordinators, but lousy head coach". Look what he did in Denver, Buffalo, Atlanta, and now in San Diego....just as the defensive coordinator.

His track record as a head coach is horrible, but when he directly ran the defenses, they were in the top 5 of the league.

Well his whole 3 games as ATL's head coach is probably a good measuring stick. He went 2-1 btw...

Playoffs 3 times in 5 years....indeed horrible.

He wouldn't be my first choice, and there is not even any way it is possible...but you we could (and have done) a lot worse. (See every year since he left...)
