Hall of Fame for Moon, Drew and Testaverde?

That first paragraph is fairly accurate description of Dan Marino, though who could deny him first ballot entry to the HOF. Fouts, Kelly, Manning, are a few others that have made the HOF that could fit this category. You could say Jimbo was innovative with the K-gun, calling his own plays bit.

Archie Manning made the Pro Football HOF? :)

Peyton will get in, SB ring or no, but it's a bit early to put him in the Marino/Fouts/Kelly "no-ring" category.

And the calling his own plays, IMHO, wasn't as important to Jimbo's election as were the four AFC championships, the five title games in six years, and making the playoffs eight of his last nine years after joining a team that went 2-14 in each of the two seasons before he arrived. Nor was it as important as the fact he made Marino's teams his personal B word for a decade and, in three consecutive AFC title games, beat Elway, Marino and Montana.

I had some Drew/Coates flashbacks when another Drew threw that floater to Antonio Gates Monday night. It was a superb catch by Gates, but enough of those and he too will see a promising career shortened by too many safeties that get free shots at him.

Antonio Gates plays for the Chargers.

ps. Does anyone really think Bledsoe has a chance of making it into the Hall of Fame?

Yeah, why wouldn't he? He already has over 40k yards passing (roughly 7000 yards more than Kelly had in only 17 more games; that's an average of 411 yards/game!), so the argument that he's racking up stats because of longevity is bogus. He took a team to the Superbowl (twice, if you count the game against Pittsburgh while in NE). Even in Buffalo, he only had one losing season (from a team that was 3-13 the year before). He's now lighting it up in Dallas again.

He's also a VERY respected player -- good image both on and off the field - and that will factor into the voters decision.

If he continues his career for a few more years, makes the playoffs once or twice, I think he'll make it no problem. First ballot? Maybe, maybe not.
