Lack of creating turnovers, giving up long time consuming drives robbing the offense of possessions, giving up non scoring drives that flip the field position and the point in a game that a defense allows scoring drives can matter just as much. By any rational assessment the Bills are a bottom 10 D. If we can't agree on this then we can't agree on anything. I mean there's a million factors Yet you winning NFL game with who has more points on the board and who gave up least Tons of this board have given up on McDermott even while we were doing good Sean McDermott and Bill belichick literally in their first 15 years as a head coach or coordinator have the most top 10 defenses for takeaways in NFL history .. and eight full seasons in Buffalo his average ranking for turnover defense is 6th! Sean McDermott consistently puts out top 10 plenty of top five defenses for takeaways.. literally the lowest he's ranked here is 10th... not luck with him or Bill belichick The fact that they're not getting it this year shows it is in fact the players and not Sean because Sean's done it with everybody It's clearly the people way more than it is the coach because our coach has coached up mid and late round picks consistently in the NFL players gotten them second contracts turn castaways like poyer from an 0-16 Brown's team into an all pro Fifth round pick Matt Milano into all pro All of that is on his coaching ability and his ability to put the players in their best spot to succeed Been here for 8 years and we have 4 top 10 scoring defenses... 4... Ranking of 2-1-2-4 He's been here 8 years and he's has 5 top 10 defenses yards against Run defense has been the worst part of his defense and he still has two top 10 Rush defenses with his average ranking being 16 so middle of the pack 5 top 10 pass defenses including a few number one If any other coach in the world had those statistics they would be universally praised.. especially when we haven't even had top five picks to get Blue Chip players.. like the Texans we just played whose two best players on defense were number three overall picks McDermott absolutely has always done well with what he's given.. this year should show that maybe he doesn't have a lot to work with .. same with last year... can't turn chicken crap into chicken salad.. yet even at the end of the Ravens game the defense buckled down and made plays... McDermott still has them playing and not giving up And yes still being 14th in scoring defense is a lot better than being 31st I would literally not trade being 31st in rushing and 14th in scoring for being 14th in rushing defense and 31st in scoring the bills defense does consistently have multiple people dropping out of games every single week basically... It's not college where you have 105 players on your roster People here act like Sean McDermott is a bottom dwelling bottom 10 coach but I bring statistics that show that that opinion is far-fetched He has more top 10 units combined than Steve spagnola and they both have coached the same amount of time... Difference is steve has had a healthy defense in the playoffs way more consistently The last two years we've literally been without starting corner starting safety multiple starting linebackers multiple people on the defensive line dinged up Truly in a game of inches that's tough to overcome in a win or take all game Edited 5 minutes ago by Buffalo716 Quote
