HereComesTheReignAgain Posted July 25 Posted July 25 (edited) I know we used to have some decent home theater/stereo discussion in years past so I’m hoping there are audio geeks that can offer some insight. I just upgraded my speakers (Wharfedale EVO 4.3 and 5.c), receiver (Anthem 540 MRX 8K), and various turntable goodies. I’m currently using Apple Music and AirPlay 2 for my streaming. Does anyone here use a streamer like EverSolo? Is it worth the expense? Any insight would be appreciated. *I know it looks cluttered. I removed some stuff and fixed the non symmetrical right side since this picture was taken. Edited July 25 by HereComesTheReignAgain Quote
AlCowlingsTaxiService Posted July 25 Posted July 25 (edited) Currently using the Wiim Ultra …. Very pleased with the interface and the DAC for a sub $300 package … there’s a Facebook group called “Roast my Rig” which is entertaining as people post photos of their system and others humorously tear down the system, decor… everything is fair game Edited July 25 by AlCowlingsTaxiService Quote

I have nothing to add here, other than many years ago I was into that stuff and I’d love to see and hear what you have going on there. I hope you and the pooch enjoy! . Edited July 26 by Augie Quote
rusty shackleford Posted July 25 Posted July 25 (edited) For awhile I was using a iFi Zen Stream as a streamer/DAC and used it for streaming Tidal. Worked great for about two years and the quality of Tidal was pretty impressive. It randomly stopped working for me and was past warranty period. I realized it was pretty expensive for the higher end Tidal subscription so I ended up canceling it and not replacing the streamer. Now I just use Spotify and the Spotify connect streaming directly through my Marantz pre/pro in my media room and my Denon receiver in my living room. Definitely not as good quality, but for the cost it’s not bad. i think your Anthem might have Spotify connect too. If you haven’t tried it out yet, it’s a lot better than using airplay from your phone. Edited July 25 by rusty shackleford Quote

I have a Pro-ject debute carbon but with a big upgrade to a Denon moving coil cart and a few other smaller upgrades. I have 3 SVS sb4000. SVS is the best value in higher end subs! 1 Quote

I bet those rattle the windows! I am in an apartment, so I needed something a little more restrained. The opposing drivers of the Micro 3000 help avoid vibrations traveling through the floor. I'm using an Audio Technica VM540ML right now. I've never tried a MC cartridge. I would have to upgrade my phono preamp. If I was starting from scratch, I would probably go MC. Quote

Well I have those in a basement home theater room so no windows to rattle, but it definitely rocks the floor above (and the one above that). I couldn't imagine having to try balancing a solid setup without bothering neighbors in an apartment. I actually upgraded to an entry level Parasound phono preamp years ago in my old house just so I could setup the turntable further away and not having to worry about the cable run being too long at that low voltage. So when a good deal came up on my cartridge, I was already able to just push a button and switch to MC. I do wish it was a better model as the cartridge could definitely benefit from fine tuning the gain and impedance, but I haven't been using it enough to justify another upgrade. Quote
