He said that health insurance in America is only for the "selected, elected, and connected". Gee, why do I mail out a check every month? He said "45 million Americans are without health insurance". IIRC, that fiqure was 43 million after the previous census. And it is a bogus figure - if you are not covered for one day in a year (like leaving a job with coverage on a Friday and starting a new one on Monday) you are counted. As well as if you choose not to have coverage. Those knowledgable about this say the true figure is around 24 million. He said that if elected, no one will be without coverage. Neat - I'll stop sending in my checks. He blamed the Administration for outsourcing. The law he is railing against has been in effect for decades, and provided tax relief from double taxation for US workers abroad. For some reason, he said that the Administration is against "100,000 cops on the street, as in the '90's". My brother was one of those. He was already working for the Niagara Falls Police Dept., and was given a pager when he wasn't working - and got paid for 16 hours per day even though he was only on duty for 8...and never got a page. This went on for a year - double pay - sweet! He said "$200 billion spent in Iraq" seven times by my count. A heckler was dragged out by security personnel. Word has been that if Clinton waited three more weeks to get attention for his heart, he would've suffered a massive heart attack. According to Kerry's socialist health care plan...based on the way things are going in Canada...Clinton might well be dead in three weeks. When government makes medical care "free," people demand medical care without regard to cost. Governments can't keep up with the excess demand and therefore must find some way of allocating care amid shortage conditions. Most choose to make patients wait. According to Nadeem Esmail and Michael Walker of Canada's Fraser Institute, the median wait for an appointment with a cardiologist in Canada's single-payer health care system was 3.4 weeks in 2003. The wait for urgent bypass surgery was another 2.1 weeks on top of that, while the wait for elective bypass surgery was an additional 10.7 weeks. Canadian doctors reported a "reasonable" wait would be 0.9 and 6.1 weeks, respectively. Great Britain and New Zealand have even longer waiting times for bypass surgery.
