Kind of funny that the piece makes no mention of the legality/illegality of the AK-47. It's like "Oh by the way, the property owner defended himself with a Soviet issued fully automatic assault rifle, which is inherently illegal in the USA." It would probably have been more accurate to describe the gun as a civilian legal, modified, semi-automatic design based on the AK-47.
