Why just release Bledsoe?

It should be noted that it makes no difference on the bills cap whether he is traded or released.

Actually it does. Because the roster bonus is due a day before the trading date begins, in order for the Bills to trade him, they'd have to pay him the $1 million -which would be $1 million on our cap. They would have to get Drew to waive the bonus before the trade & one way or another they feel that a) Drew wouldn't waive the bonus so the Bills can trade him or b) assuming Drew doesn't want to waive the bonus, if the pick is too low then the $1 million cap saving is worth more than a lower round pick.

Look, the whole Bledsoe experiment was a total waste. The Bills are kind of stuck. Who in their right mind would trade for him when they know the Bills have to release him by March 3rd or pay him a roster bonus AND the team that traded for him would have to pick up his remaining contract? A team can get him free and clear and pay him way less than his remaining contract knowing full well the Bills have to cut him. The Bills save cap space by cutting him and that is good enough for me.

I agree. Anyone smart that wants Bledsoe (an oxymoron right there!) will play the poker game of waiting until he gets cut. Let's face it, if you wait you only have to outbid 1 or 2 teams at the most.
