Just Jack
I was at a Hunters Hope charity ball one year and there was a basket of Jim Kelly autographed items that no one had bid on (silent auction). So I put in the opening bid of just $100. By the end of the night, no one else had outbid me so I "won" it. I had expected someone to outbid me. KD in CA
I've won several things at silent auctions that way. I'm not a particularly big cognac drinker, but I picked up a $300 bottle of Remy XO for $100 last month that no one was bidding on. Also added some nice wine to the collection at below market price. Hey, you can't beat a bargain!
