The Oscar race comes to a finish this month and with it so will the Garbage Season of movies. As Hollywood prepares it's more popular titles of Spring and Summer in the on deck circle, we are given one last glimpse of something that can be considered entertaining beforehand.

Looking to standout this month, director Matthew Vaughn will be adding some fun to the movies that already exist on his impressive resume, with "Kingsman: The Secret Service". A spy organization recruits an unrefined, but promising street kid into the agency's ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius. Starring Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Mark Hamill & Michael Caine.

Warner Bros. continues to say "yes" to the Wachowski siblings, as they once again try to prove that they are still relevant movie makers with the delayed sci-fi "Jupiter Ascending". In a bright and colorful future, a young destitute caretaker gets targeted by a ruthless son of a powerful family that live on a planet in need of a new heir, so she travels with a genetically engineered warrior to the planet in order to stop his tyrant reign. Starring Mila Kunis, Channing Tatum, Eddie Redmayne & Sean Bean. The Wachowski's have a vision, but a push back from what was a summer 2014 release is a concern.

In an attempt to show that he still has box office pull, Will Smith headlines "Focus". A veteran grifter takes a young, attractive woman under his wing, but things get complicated when they become romantically involved. Also starring Margot Robie, Rodrigo Santoro & Gerald McRaney.

The delayed "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets the big screen treatment this month too. Literature student Anastasia Steele's life changes forever when she meets handsome, yet tormented, billionaire Christian Grey. Starring Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan, Luke Grimes & Jennifer Ehle. This was another former summer 2014 release.

In "The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water", When an diabolical pirate steals the secret Krabby Patty formula, SpongeBob and his friends must travel to the surface in order to get it back.

In "Hot Tub Time Machine 2", When Lou, who has become the "father of the Internet," is shot by an unknown assailant, Jacob and Nick fire up the time machine again to save their friend. Starring Gillian Jacobs, Adam Scott, Thomas Lennon, Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson & Chevy Chase.

Kevin Costner stars in "McFarland, USA. A cross country coach in a small California town transforms a team of athletes into championship contenders.

In "The Lazarus Effect", A group of medical students discover a way to bring dead patients back to life. Starring Mark Duplass, Olivia Wilde, Donald Glover, Evan Peters & Sarah Bolger.

In "The DUFF", A high school senior instigates a social pecking order revolution after finding out that she has been labeled the DUFF (Designated Ugly Fat Friend) to her prettier more popular friends. Starring Bella Thorne, Mae Whitman, Robbie Amell & Allison Janney.

Finally in "Seventh Son", Young Thomas is apprenticed to the local Spook to learn to fight evil spirits. His first great challenge comes when the powerful Mother Malkin escapes her confinement while the Spook is away. Starring Ben Barnes, Julianne Moore, Jeff Bridges & Alicia Vikander.

Wasn't Kingsman supposed to be out months ago? I remember the previews looking like a misbegotten comedy about a delinquent being recruited and trained by a mystery spy organization...then it never came out, and some six months later I'm seeing previews for what looks like a completely different, serious action-adventure movie. What the hell happened with it? Did the original cut prescreen that badly that they pulled the release and re-cut it?

I haven't read many reviews of Jupiter Ascending, but what I have seen were some of the most amusingly bad reviews I've seen since Showgirls.

Yes, "Kingsman" was supposed to be released in October 2014, why they moved it back, I don't know. They may have been afraid that it would have gotten buried by movies like "Interstellar", "Big Hero 6" & the 3rd "Hunger Games" movie all coming out at the time.

Usually that's a sign that a studio has a stinker on their hands, but it currently has a fresh score of 77% on Rotten Tomatoes.
