DallasBillsFan1 Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Sorry if this question has been asked and answered ... but ... with all the recent talk about renovating The Ralph I have a question about Mr Wilson and his "plans" for the team upon his demise. It seems unclear what will happen when he does pass. Conventional wisdom says it will pass to his heirs and then they will sell the Bills. But to whom? The highest bidder? What if that bidder is in Los Angeles? Or Toronto? If Erie county and the team moves forward with renovations for roughly $200 million and are completed within 2-3 years ... then Mr Wilson passes shortly thereafter ... is it possible for the team to go elsewhere thus leaving a newly renovated stadium with no NFL team? What guarantees would New York State, Erie County or taxpayers have to ensure this would not happen? This has to be an obvious discussion in WNY, but I have not seen any articles or answers on this???
ExiledInIllinois Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Seems like a no win situation... They will surely take flak if Ralph croaks and the investment is a bust upon th team leaving.
Optometric Insight Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 The plans is that the Bills would go to the highest bidder; it could be any bidder. I imagine that Erie County/NYS would put a clause in the stadium renewal contract that would force the new owner to pay some money if he wants to move the team.
