The Big Cat Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Don't know why the last thread I started on this was deleted. Radio stations stream games through their websites all the time. I've been looking for one, don't know if there's an exception because of the championship or not, but to purge the thread without explanation was weak sauce. I take it nobody knows a Maryland or New England radio station that's carrying the game through their website? Again, there's nothing illegal about this. And you don't have to go through some sketch, adware, virus riddled website like Justintv like you would if you wanted to WATCH the game. I don't want to watch it, I want to listen while I do work from my computer. If anybody's got a link, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
Just Jack Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Don't know why the last thread I started on this was deleted. It wasn't deleted, from what I see it was merged with the Ravens/Pats thread. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/141376-ravens-at-pats-game-thread/ Have you tried Google?
boyst Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Sirius does not even stream the games via online player so I would be surprised if archaic radio does the same thing.

Dude, I was lmgtfying people before you were a twinkle in your mama's eye. Save the snark.
PromoTheRobot Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Radio stations that have web streams are supposed to shut them off when they broadcast most major league sports, but a lot forget to do that. PTR
Offside Number 76 Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 PTR--are you sure? Doesn't GR advertise that Sabres games are available through its (very crappy) app? To OP: I've had a lot of success using the TuneIn Radio app for iPhone/iPad. I don't know whether they have a version for traditional computers or over the web (but I don't see why not).

You know, the last place I thought to even look.

Maybe GR's deal with the Sabres allows that. I know the NFL charges people for a radio version of Sunday Ticket (called Field Pass, I believe) so they don't want local radio to stream games. PTR

Jack Straw Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 They used to do this, but not since the NFL started their listen online thing on their website, which of course you have to pay for, and is overpriced. Now they shut it off. In fact the Bills (and other NFL teams) used to have links to the free game radio broadcasts right on their websites, if I remember right.

NHL also sells an audio-only version of Center Ice for mobile devices for $9.99, but that league may be more focused on growing its fanbase and therefore more tolerant of local radio stations streaming the games. IIRC, that was the first league to have all games streamed for free over the Internet--and that was in the dialup era.
