I think the difference between this and other incidents is that Weiner isn't out there campaigning against sexting or cheating. Still horrible and stupid thing to do. Granted Weiner screwed up no matter what. But it would be interesting to find out how the photos were gained. Were they gained by Brietbart paying off someone? Someone truly hacking the account after the initial mistaken post? The girl involved releasing them for payment? Since you probably watch NBC a lot, I can understand your confusion here. They were gained by someone doing their due diligence as an investigative reporter on a tip that a Democratic US Congressman was tweetting his junk out to strangers. Brian Williams could care less last week that a well known US Congressman was tweeting his junk out to strangers. It's called investigative journalism. It's called doing your job. Kind of like someone acting as though they are all religious and then having an affair or doing something dumb like this. Who gives a f? Me and I am sure others. I never said Breitbart was a sinister villain. Why is it so bad for him to disclose where/how he gained the photos? If you lack the cognitive ability to discern between bathroom butt plunging and marriage then you have a lot more pressing issues than how Breitbart got his pics. Obviously you're having issues in understanding. Some politicians will fight against issues and then go out and do the thing they are fighting against. Hypocrites. I think people should know how he gained the photos. Why not? Surfing porn, phone sex and stealing office supplies will get you fired at any job I know of. We are talking about a Democrat here so he gets a special pass because he's doing the lords work and the ends justify the means. Democrats are so vital to our republic that each Dem should get a couple of free passes when they take office. My point is that he won't resign and calls for him to do so are silly. There is precedent for awful behavior and no resignation, not the least of which is Newt 's multiple affairs, at least one of which was present during Monicagate hearings, and the bathroom footsie guy. People should resign for stuff like this but they rarely do. Chris Lee was an exception. So which is it? They should resign or they shouldn't resign? On one hand you say they should resign. On the other you say asking them to resign is silly because there is a precedent of others staying in office for doing worse things, even when the precedent has an exception you cite which is a virtual carbon copy of the Weiner incident minus the dick photos? Maybe if we start forcing these people to resign (Clinton, Rangle, Lee, Weiner) regardless of party affiliation, we'd start seeing better behavior from our elected officials. But no. Charlie Rangle can do what he wants and stay in office because, y'know, there's a precedent, so pushing for him to quit is silly. And yet you rail against people who keep re-electing incumbents? It's also funny to watch the same mindless, estrogen flowing, butt piracy glorifying she-man lefty hacks who thought the Larry Craig incident was the funniest and most interesting scandal of all time tell us that this guy's personal sexual proclivities are no big deal. And where were these defenders of the rooster shot when everyone was piling on Brett Favre? Is it outside the norm these days to send cockshots? Pretty sure that's the norm. Infidelity is also "normal," at least in that it's not some statistical outlier activity.
