I wasn't able to listen in. I hope you can provide some info from the interview.

The interview should appear here eventually, isn't there now.

I was trying to work and listen at the same time so I didn't absorb much from the interview.

-They obviously talked about the Bills teams he coached and he talked about much he liked the players and ownership.

-When asked about the lockout, he expressed his disbelief at how the owners/players are letting it persist, yet he did seem like he was partially on the side of the owners

-He was actually on to promote a Gala he will be keynoting at St. Joe High in Pittsfield, Mass on May 20th

the only 'decision' marv made that was wrong was hiring dick, which is admittedly big

but the rest of the things people blame marv for were just flat out not his responsibility, the big one being drafting. people look pretty stupid to blame marv for the drafts during that period when its obvious he had virtually no input and decision making in them. why would he?

marv was brought in to try to fix a very dysfunctional franchise at one of the worst points in its history. he told them point blank he was only going to gm for two seasons, which means he was essentially a consultant. a consultants job is to advice on org structure and delineate areas of responsibility. he did that. whatever decisions they made within that structure were absolutely not his responsibility

for selecting jauron: F

for architecting an org structure and philosophy: B

final grade: C

People from Chicago laughed when they heard we hired DJ, they knew first hand what a joke of a head coach he was. Ralph knew too, but he let Marv convince him. Pitiful on several fronts.

Again, this topic is waaaaay over analyzed here but he did draft two pro bowl players during his tenure for a whole 2 years as GM.

His big mistake was hiring Jauron but not sure Sherman the other candidate would have done any better

He left the franchise better than when he took over as this frnachise had a terrible relationship with media, city, fans, etc...and a worse record with Donahoe.

He inherited JP Losman as his QB and then MM as his head coach and then Mularkey bailed a couple weeks later. He came in to make the organization respectable again and they were respectable.

He let DJ have final word on draft picks just as Bill Polian did for him.....he did make some rpetty good decisions over the years with the draft picks in the late 80s and early 90s.
