Rick Perry strikes again....

Because you have not experienced the attitude of the Hollywood celebrity like I have. People talk over each other all the time or don't allow people to finish their answers. Only someone with the attitude of "how dare you" would have felt the need to say what Obama said at the end of that interview. It's not the attitude of a leader.

I guess that is why I don't get it. You thought it was funny that they ran the part of the clip, after the interview was over, where the president admonishes the reporter. If he was the "holier than thou" guy you suggest, wouldn't he have done it during the interview? We all know that George W Bush was not well liked by many, but he never was disrespected, face to face, by members of the media, the way Obama has been. Did you see the interview that Bill O'Riley did with the president during the Super Bowl pre-game. It was downright rude. Obama rolled with it. People who like him, admired his calmness...people who dislike him (like you) characterized him as being a kitty. He speaks up here, and he is being "superior". Whatever...

As for your experience with Hollywood celebrity, you shouldn't make assumptions...

It takes very little to judge someone's character. It's the small things behind the scenes when the cameras are off that are very telling. Someone who says DURING the interview "please let me finish" gets my respect. Someone who after the interview scolds the interviewer is someone who comes across as having an attitude of "I'm more superior than you are" which is a deadly attitude to have for a leader.

Wow...I guess we just have very different interpretations on character. He is superior to the reporter...he is the friggin' president of the United States...he just didn't feel compelled to remind the interviewer, on the air. We had a president, before this one, who was smug and supremely confident in his ignorance on many things...and he wasn't afraid to say it...I guess that was somehow more preferable?

From your take, it looks like you are leaning toward Donald Trump in 2012?

You don't consider yourself a leader, do you? Or just one with a deadly attitude?

Maybe you should say that it takes very little for you to judge someone's character, because you are judgmental by nature?

What does this have to do with Bush?

A good leader does not feel the need to be condescending. Obama felt he had to be petty here. Let me ask you a question. How would you feel if your boss said that to you?

I am not sure what that has to do with anything, as Obama is not the reporters boss. But if I was being a disrespectful smart ass, I would feel like I deserved it. I would also appreciate being pulled aside to be told I was doing something wrong, rather than airing it in front of co-workers. To me, handling it the way the president did shows much more leadership (if you will, the word you used) and maturity than castigating the guy during the interview that you are doing, for his benefit.

I brought up Bush, because he was very different in the way he dealt with questions, and was very condescending, even when he was painfully wrong. It seems you would prefer that style? I guess I just don't see where Obama was being petty...he was speaking off the record, he wasn't trying to show the guy up, just asking for respect...I think you interpretation of this particular thing is just very odd...it doesn't even make sense, unless you are arguing just for the sake of arguing. I suspect if this wasn't Obama we were talking about, your interpretation would be a bit different. It really doesn't have anything to do with the nature of leadership...just partisan politics.

Obama like many politician in the United States acts as if tough questions or a correction of accuracy is rudeness. I put part of the blame on a fawning media which has been so cowed by the threat of loss of access that they continually do puff pieces. I was watching a couple of Mike Wallace interviews from the early sixties and he was asking tough questions in a civil and polite manner, he let the interviewed answer the questions without butting in and he had great follow up questions. There was none of that rushed I got to ask my ten questions during a six minute interview feeling you get with a lot interviews today.

On a side note it was strange watching everyone lighting up and smoking on TV- smoking is bad but there is something cool looking about the smoke curling around and slowly filling up the studio as adults talk.

But he wasn't pulled aside. If you think those two were the only ones in the room and Obama thought the cameras were not rolling you're not very smart.

You yourself were laughing because the station chose to show the part of the "interview" after the president had taken his microphone off. Now you are suggesting Obama chastised the reporter, because he knew everyone would see it? Maybe he did, but the television station had the choice whether to show it or not...

btw- it is so ironic that you find a "superior" attitude, as you characterize Obama, so distasteful. Or, is this just another one of your arguments made, just for the sake of arguing?

No I'm suggesting it should be beneath the POTUS to chastise a reporter at all.

And to equate an online personna created by someone you no very little about with the POTUS is pretty silly. The President is the leader of the most powerful country in the world and he exhibited something in that video that is very uncharacteristic of any kind of leader. It may have been a very minute thing in your mind but to me it was very telling of his true personality.

blah, blah, blah...your so deep!

First, you would have more respect for Obama if he had admonished the guy, mid-interview, now you think it is beneath the President to admonish the guy at all...your spinning...

Ok can we quit linking to this Young Turks guy. He's annoying and typically wrong with what he says. He said that the reporter asked "well the Republicans say you're trying to take it away from Houston". In the actual interview the reporter never mentions Republicans and in the voice over he actually says Republicans AND Democrats. This guy is an idiot.

Nope. Not spinning. It's not the words, it's how and when he says them which has been my stance since the beginning. If in the middle of his answer the interviewer interrupts him and he calmly and professionally says "Please, let me finish" there is nothing wrong with that. I would expect it and I would have said the same thing. But to mention it after the interview is over is petty and very unprofessional. Very unbecoming for someone of his stature.

Good stuff, from the resident "whiny little B word" of TSW...takes one to know one!

Which is why I included the caveat that it was obvious to people who DON'T have their nose up Obama's ass. You'll never see or acknowledge this side of him because it's too dark where your head is planted.

Head toward the light and all will be well.

Yawn...so in other words, if he had acted like a "whiney little B word" it would have been okay? Something tells me you would have a problem with that too...or at least your on-line persona would have a problem with it.

One last time. If he had been professional in his handling of this I would have been ok. See were I mentioned that not only would I be ok with it, but I'd expect it? He did not, in my opinion, handle that in a professional way. Hey and if you're ok with the way he handled it I'm ok with your opinion. And not only am I ok with your opinion, I'd expect it.

If the "light" takes me to where you and Chef reside, I'd rather not...but thanks for the advice. <_<

So the Turk brings that part up but not the part where he clearly says Republicans and Democrats. Talk about selective reporting.

The Young Turks is up front that it has a progressive slant they don't go around pretending to be fair and balanced.
