"Anybody else ready for 19 more games?"

Had some positive things to say re: first offensive drive, said the RBs had a "really nice night," said Maybin, against the 2nd team, was "not shabby,"

Also said the DL had a strong game.

Fair article?

His concluding comments says it all: "Final Thoughts: Well, at least the Bills aren't trying to fool anybody. They're bad. They're rebuilding. And it'll be painful. Very, very painful."

Joe's good and not prone to overreacting. Solid article and one everyone should read. It puts the coming season into perspective. We are not a good team and have no place to go but up, we hope.

As you noted Joe B is a very objective reporter who is not prone to exaggerate one way or the other. His pre-draft reports are as good as any of the more prominent draftniks. If you want the most reliable and astute hometown assessment he is the person to deliver the message. As Joe B noted the Bills are rebuilding. It is going to be a multi-year task. You would think that a 90 plus yr old owner would have a greater sense of urgency in turning things around. He doesn't.

If you are a Bills' fan the least punishing way to assess this season is not in wins/losses but in team improvement. It is going to take a lot of time and patience to undo the damage done by the prior staff. Following this team is not for the faint of heart.

It is going to take more than a few years to turn it around if the team continues to fail to fill the 3 most important positions on the team: QB, LT and pass rush

It is apparent to anyone but the blind homer that Ralph has no interest in "turning it around", since the fans continue to support the product- no matter how crappy it is.

It starts with ownership. I have been saying for a very long time that the Bills are what they are because the owner is who he is. When Nix/Whaley and Gailey took over the operation that was the time to be a little aggressive and smart in bringing in more talent, especially on the OL. I wasn't looking for a splurge in pursuing additional talent. But a greater effort in bolstering the roster would have sent a message to the fanbase that the franchise was going to seriously compete.

The owner has for a very long time cheated the very supportive fans of entertaining football, even excluding the dismal record. They don't deserve to be treated in such a disrespectful and dismissive way.

Because he knows he's got us by the cajones. If we stop supporting the team, it gives him (or the next owner) an excuse to move the team.

I mean, it's almost like the past ten years have been Ralph's deliberate attempt to drive away the fans so he could move the team when the stadium lease was up, but we're too damn stubborn and won't go away.
