John Clayton says keep on eye on the Schottenheimers

Eight division titles and ZERO Super Bowl appearances for a coach who cannot make adjustments in the playoffs, being outcoached every season. He is a run-oriented coach who will never fix our passing problems, no matter what our record is. He's been through four different franchises for a big reason- he doesn't fully deliver; he's a tease like Wade Phillips.

NO THANKS from me...

Gotta get to the playoffs before you can win, and I count 14 playoff appearances in 21 seasons of coaching. For a Bills fan to knock Schottenheimer's coaching record after the last 10 years is beyond absurd.

Checkout how many losing seasons he has had....I never knew that :w00t:

He was a huge reason why Kansas City had that playoff streak... and exactly my point. Even with a gaudy 200-126 record as a head coach, not even going to one Super Bowl has to be very disconcerting.

Just ask the New York Jets how that has worked out since 1969... ohh, that's right; Wanting to win it all must not be the top priority. Give me a break; that is flimsy reasoning for knocking my criticism!

Getting to the playoffs unbelievably quickly with relatively little talent

YES PLEASE from me.

Two of those losses came purely from player mistakes, where Marty put them in position to succeed and the players screwed up.

A lot of the reason Marty hasn't gotten so far in the playoffs IMHO, is that he's such a great coach that he got teams that really didn't have playoff-level talent to the playoffs. Get Marty a highly-talented team and he is likely to bring home a championship.

The Chargers were loaded with talent, and yet he got outcoached again. The Chiefs had Joe Montana, Marcus Allen, and Derrick Thomas, and it wasn't enough. His teams weren't pedestrian by ANY stretch!
