  1. I mean, has he displayed any consistent ability to excel in routes not named GO? He's a small, extremely fast receiver who lacks the versatility of a Steve Smith, Chad Ochocinco or even a DeSean Jackson. I could be wrong, but his lack of RAC ability makes me believe he is a very over-paid, under-sized deep threat.
  2. Who in the hell would give up a first round pick for Lee Evans? He's got to be the least productive receiver in the league for how much his contract pays out. And as far as this thread goes, I'm pretty sure any team could have signed TO, and we were the only squad that bit. So a 3rd for Mr. Owens would be incredibly unlikely.
  3. I typically look forward to these BillFromNYC post-game capsules, but this post was just bad. I completely believe that everyone should be able to voice there personal opinion after the game, but I have to wonder what game you were watching. It's OK, though. Like the Bills, we just need you to correct a few mistakes for next week.
  4. Every message board has its goat and hero, and this one seems to already be Ellison and Harris, respectively. OK, I get it. We all think Ellsion sucks. But can Harris be that much better at this point? He is a converted safety from a weak and pourous Big X11 defense. I, too, like the fact that he chased hard and jumped on some piles late in the Titans game. This does not make him an NFL starter. Most of you are just slaves to the broadcasts; really watch that game and see how many times Ellison was a problem. It was no more than twice, IMHO. I agree, it's easy to rag on the smallest LB and blame him for our enigmatic D, but the finger could be pointed elsewhere. The same lot of you think Levitre had a horrendous game because NBC's broadcast showed him getting lit up on a hands to the face. Open your eyes, guys. Evaluate for real, or asterisk your opinion. From here on out: "I think Ellsion would be a good back-up.*" *= Because some guys on the message board I follow think so. No one would mistake him for an All Pro, but c'mon, you can't really think he's the weakest link on our defense.
  5. I know not how many of you have bought into the twitter thing, but I have (hesitantly). One of the perks is following some of the Bills players. The few I follow now are actually really good about posting camp updates and even pictures and what not. It's not earth shattering stuff, but it is pretty cool to get some of their takes on the grind of training camp. If anyone knows of Bills players with active accounts, we can use this thread as a place to post interesting "tweets" and camp pictures. http://twitpic.com/bt63k The link should work even if you don't have twitter. These are just a few pictures that Kawika Mitchell has posted recently. You should be able to click the thumbnails to the right to see all the pictures.
  6. You're the kind of guy that keeps Mazda Miatas on the road. Your inability to accept an opinion which differs from your own is exactly what margnalizes your entire argument. In addition to refering to yourself by a duchey third-person name and driving a very small convertible, I'd b willing to wager you talk very loudly and often invade others personal space during conversation. I'm sure you'll respond with an ellipsees filled "well you're an idiot who supports a scumbag," argument. It's not about supporting Vick; it's about understanding the justice system, understanding rehabilitation, and fighting against loud-mouth know-it-alls like yourself.
  7. I bet you call yourself "The Philster" in real life. Could be wrong but just get that kind of talk-about-myself-in-the-3rd-person vibe from you.
  8. I hope you don't eat meat, don't enslave ANY animals as pets and pass sweeping and short-sighted judgement across the board. I could honestly see the rationale behind keeping Vick away from football, although, I personally think he should be allowed to play, but blowhards like you are increasingly dificult to put up with. You're narrow-mindedness is trumped only by your written volume. My God, you're annoying.
  9. Oh Phlster. Only a matter of time before you had to chime in with yur whackadoo, Vick is equal to people who kill other people noise. Charles Manson... Hitler??? Really? Get a grip. What's so humorous is that you are the psychopath who needs help. You said in a previous thread you would legitimately kill someone who hurt your dog. Anyone rational would say what Vick did is dsturbing, but someone who has lost touch, like you, calls for over the top treatment of Vick, to the point you compare what he did to what Hitler did. If the point of our system is to rehabilitate, let's see if it's done the job?
  10. Jeez. A wee-bit testy. If it gets your dander up that much, you may want to consider not clicking his posts.
  11. Agreed. What the crap? You have to have better things to do than ripping on a harmless opinion post.
  12. As we slip into the unbearably hot days that are the home-stretch of summer, my mind is free to wonder and wander. I ask you this, board, out of curiosity and boredom: What do the Buffalo Bills mean to you? To me, the Bills are like a state of mind. Nestled into upstate New York, the city itself is like a microcosm of the American dream. The work ethic, the struggle, the sense of community and pride in what we have. It's about family, and tradition, and eternal hope. The internet and proliferation of information have only served to up my interest and appreciation. And for much of my expertise, I have this very board to thank. It seems each Fall is more anticipated than the last, and, in a way, I'm appreciative of the slow drone of another summer -- because I know the payoff will be great. Regardless of wins or losses (although more wins would be greatly appreciated) I know that Sundays will be filled with great friends, hot food and cold beer. The hope and buzz of a new season will be palpable, the cool, fall air electric. And one day, when we do win that god-damned silver trophy, I will march the streets of Buffalo with my fellow Bill-brethren in a drunken celebratory haze, the likes of which have never been seen. It will be generational fulfillment and serve to ease the pain of an entire geographical area. That will be a great day. Until that day, keep your ear to the grindstone. Now, what do the Bills mean to you?
  13. I love when people say they won't resort to name-calling. Well, I will: You, sir, are an idiot. These workouts aren't even mandatory, PeaBrain. You act like they aren't getting any reps, but in your own post, you state they are being sprinkled in with the first team. Hey, Chicken Little, get a grip. And, for future reference, rebuilding is when you DO start from scratch. You are a contrarian, agitator and, most importantly, a deuscher.
  14. Well, cooler heads will prevail, as people with objectivity and rationale will put their heads together, agree that once someone serves their punishment they get a second chance, and Mike Vick WILL be reinstated. So, maybe it is you that should keep grasping at straws, with your no-second chance soap-box stance. It seemed like you had your head on straight, until you jumped the shark and came with the "Marshawn should be gone," noise. A 23-year-old with two misdemeanors should get das boot for good?
  15. Thank God for another rational adult on the boards this late. And for 9-5-guy: why can't he have his old job back? If a successful CPA was busted for the same crime, when he got out, should he have to shovel sh--, or could he just go back to crunching numbers?
  16. Wait, wait, wait. You actually think he deserves some sort of physical repercussion, in addition to his prison sentence and loss of millions? Would you actually wish harm upon him because of this? Should he be put to death Hammurabi-style -- human's eye for a dog's eye? No offense, but I think that's pretty sick. And from what I understand, he wasn't riding around, stealing family dogs to torture. Are you actually a dog? That's the only reasonable explanation I can arrive at, given your comments.
  17. I'm not a pet lover because I wouldn't assault or even kill someone for messing with my dog? You, sir, are irrational. I love animals and would never do anything to hurt them. I won't, however, take the leap off the deep end into the realm of bizzare over-reaction when something happens to an animal. I usually reserve my complete disgust for human rapists, human assaulters, and human murderers. As deplorable and sickening as I may think Vick's actions were, I still can't follow your line of thought. What he did is absolutely unforgivable... no matter what? Do you account for the fact that he may have been raised around dog fighting -- that it was part of his personal culture, per se? I just can't understand the myopic absolutism with which some of you have reacted on this thread. I guess it truly is a polarizing topic that won't soon be agreed on. Part of me feels bad for the guy. I feel like some tree-house-living, grizzly-man whackadoo may actually try to kill him if he makes it back in the league. And by the fervor of some of the responses on this thread, I feel like some on TBD would think it justified. FYI: If you die alone with your dog, it will eat you. Years ago I lived next to an older woman in an apartment complex, and when she passed away in her sleep, that's exactly what happened to her. The officers said that happens all the time. It's not like the little-guys will pounce on you immediately, but when the food runs out, their instinct kicks in. It's purely survival.
  18. I mean what exactly are you saying? You would kill someone if they messed with your dog? That's kind of ridiculous, my man -- a little out there. My only point is there are people who have done equally bad things and are still in the league. Mike Vick, like most people who make mistakes, has been punished and deserves another chance. Some of you dog-facists are intolerable.
  19. Look it up, brother. And your beligerant tone betrays your sanity. If you abuse your dog, you deserve everything that comes to you? I agree, you should treat your pets well, but there's something about your rhetoric that just screams wackadoo-fringe.
  20. You PETA people are out of your freaking minds. Dogs aren't people, man. Get a grip. I hope you grandstanders do burn your gear -- ya bunch of whackadoos. I love dogs, but I often get the feeling that many animal-rights-folks would jeopardize a human life for that of a dachsund. You know what will happen if you have a heart attack and die while home alone with your dog? It will eat you. They are still animals. And as much as you want to give them human traits, they are still only animals who are not capable of human emotion. To play devil's advocate: isn't it kind of cruel to hold an animal hostage as your indentured pet?
  21. Well said, good sir. Wear it, ladies. You moral-soap-boxers slay me. I can understand the sentiment: Michael Vick is a bad person who did some disgustingly-heinous things, but, come on. You guys feel that strongly about this guy that you would stop cheering for your team of many years? You sat through Rob Johnson, JP Losman and the drafting of Mike Williams, but this would send you packing for good? Give me a break. I don't want the guy in the least, but I almost hope we pick him up now to put you gentleman to the test. The Reggie Rogers thing is the real clincher. If you've been a fan since '91, I'm not sure how you've lived with yourselves.
  22. I have to agree with the people calling hypocrisy. I think everyone understands what the Vick-crew did was wrong and on a certain level disgusting. What about the hunters with all kinds of mounted animals on their walls? Animals that certainly were not killed for sustenance on any level. Do most hunters take a knife, club and loincloth and hunt these animals in a FAIR and HUMANE way? No. They sit in tree stands with high-powered rifles, camo and the animal piss of whatever the hell they're killing all over themselves. Oh yeah, that's fair. Just because modern society may have decided canines are "man's best friend," doesn't mean that all societies or cultures feel that way. If I did have a pet cow, would I have a justifiable position in being irate with the slaughter of my favorite pet? In many parts of Central America, the fighting of animals is commonplace and accepted. My point being, the South has a culture and history of not only rooster-fighting but dog-fighting, as well. It's not right and should be illegal, but my God, you would think the guy had driven around and kidnapped every families Fido, to take back to his compound and torture. In my opinion, Michael Vick, as big of a jerk and deplorable person as he may be, was targeted to make an example of. Two years is time enough. I don't want him, but if the FO thinks he could help us win 2-3 more games, I'm all for it. For all you out-of-touch people who would renounce your fan-dom immediately: Give me a break. There are people who are allowed to play and earn a living in this league who have seriously injured and even killed PEOPLE. Take your bleeding-heart feelings for your own family dog, and get a grip on reality. If you're going to take that hard-line stance, you should call for the removal of #32 from the stadium, and you might as well not follow the NFL at all -- they do allow Leonard Little and Ray Lewis to play. I mean, you would stop following the team if they signed a player who served two years in prison and who they decided was remorseful and completely rehabilitated? I think that close-minded stance is pretty sickening and disgusting, personally. This is America, after all.
  23. Yeah, Fingon's "life is pain" avatar just seems so appropriate. This guy is such a cynical know-it-all he isn't fit to post on any level. Period. That's my scout's analysis on this one. This, also, from another well-respected scout working for... oh... let's see here, umm I forgot, and that doesn't matter anyway: Well, after stellar words per minute numbers, and what seemed to be a complete immunity to carpel-tunnel, Fingon really turned off some scouts at his Pro Day. For starters, he came off a bit abraisive in a few trial threads, and then, some scouts said, after one-on-ones, he may lack some of the abstract thinking and outside-of-the-box rationale it takes to post on the next level. The final straw was his I'm-absolutely-right, no-discussion-needed-here attitude after refusing to take the mandated aptitude evaluation. "It would have been perfect anyway," he stated. "I know everything." Scout's Grade: UDFA
  24. Once again, would you not acknowledge that there are certain intagibles that are integral for a NFL QB? Say it with me now... Leadership, command of the huddle, respect from teammates, work ethic... These are things that can, also, not be debated. He's a unique talent. Comparisons to anyone else are kind of silly, being that there hasn't been anyone like him.
