  1. i believe and i hope that he shows this week. He will make the case as a top 3 LT this year with his play and in the offseason the bills will make him the highest paid LT in the league. I think with the holdout this year, it sets him up for the big payday nextyear.

I believe that was the plan all along on Parkers behalf. If Peters had reported this offseason without a peep and played, he may have had to have this holdout next year(2 yrs remaining). Thus, in Parkers mind...they maybe gain a year or at the very least, gain an easier negotiation next offseason.

I dont blame Peters for trying to make the most $ he can as soon as he can, or the bills for wanting to save as much $ for as long as they can.

I just want Peters here now, and i believe he needs to be here for our QB to reach his potential and our offense to reach its potential.

  2. I think (hope?) he's flat-out wrong about Ellis, based on his competition for that fourth DE spot. But Corner? I believe he's made the team, but if they decide to keep both James and Youboty ...

I also think there's no way in hell they can sneak Corner onto the practice squad if they do release him. Someone -- Cleveland, perhaps, which was desperate enough to trade for bust Travis Daniels -- would take a shot on him.

100% agreed...especially with not being able to sneak Corner onto the squad

  3. I was amazed too after reading that article....WHo ever puts their 4th and 3rd rounder especially when these guys can contribute (at least Reggie Corner) in the practice squad....

They guys have really gone nuts......Practice squad is usually reserved for your 7th rounders and UDFA......

i agree...and i thought Eliis made some plays and looked pretty good for a guy just getting his feet wet.

  4. The Fins have given up just 24 points in the last three pre-season games and are starting to have fun with their defense. I posted about them being a team on the rise and promptly got flamed for it. Did anyone noticed how they have been crushing opponents' pockets (5 sacks vs KC and 5 sacks again in Thursday's night game against the Saints)? They have a no name front seven, some newcomers, some old timers but they are starting to buy into their new system and having a ball with it. They only gave up 99 yards against the Saints that featured many back-ups.

They were doing "The Flywheel" all night long. That's what they do after they sack the QB or make a big play on defense. After the play that's when they get low to the ground and put their hands together and put them them in a circular motion to mimic cranking an old car. It was inspired by former Syracuse coach Paul Pasqualoni who is now the Dolphins' DC. It's suppose to represent what a flywheel does for a car. The flywheel is a rotating disc on a car that relies on momentumto pick up speed. "When you first start cranking the wheel, it's hard," LB Channing Crowder said. "But when you get the momentum going, and you get oil moving, it starts going much smoother."

It has been impressive so far how they have been dismantling offensive pockets with their DL. This makes me wonder all the more why we didn't make Marcus Stroud type players more of a priority before this last off season. I believe that the AFC East will be the dominate division once again in the very near future based on what is presently going on in it. I just hope that Buffalo can be at the top of it because these other teams (Jets and Miami) are sure picking up steam.

i think if things go thier way, they could win 4-7 games this year...and that would be an amazing one year turn around

  5. Let me slow it down for you, since you are unable to grasp the concepts of comprehension, analyzing and facts.

If you had bother to read the whole thread, you would have learned what the HOF SB winning genius of a coach named Walsh felt about the following QBs:

He originally did not like Joe Montana, and in fact preferred Fuller and Dils over Joe.

He liked Rick Mirer, Joey Harrington, David Carr, and Steve Young.

He liked Jake Plummer so much he actually referred to Plummer as the next Joe Montana, including winning multiple SB.

Walsh was originally wrong about Joe Montana.

Walsh was correct about Steve Young.

Walsh was wrong about Rick Mirer.

Walsh was wrong about Joey Harrington.

Walsh was wrong about David Carr.

Walsh was wrong about Jake Plummer.

That makes Walsh's record 1 out of 6, or about 16%. This is the record of the guy whose opinion you value.

If you cannot see that the facts say Walsh's opinion regarding QB's is about as valid as Kipers, then I do not what to tell you.

Here a little factoid to chew on: If the 49ers did not trade for OJ Simpson, Walsh and company would still have had their first round pick. Walsh would have grabbed Steve Fuller instead of Montana. And 25+ years later, nobody would gave a crap what Walsh said about a QB.

lol dude....your right, Bill Walsh had no idea what he was talking about(sarcasm),

alot of people were wrong on those guys and will be wrong on alot more...whats your point, i think we both agreed your gonna miss more then hit with qb's. the entire league was wrong on Montana.

am i really trying to convince someone on a message board that Bill Walsh was one of the greatest offensive minds in football...thats it for me,im not coming back to this thread, i wont be sucked in, i think your playing a joke on me or something...right? lol

  6. will edwards be the next great qb in buffalo, yes, he has the uncanny ability to b 3 steps ahead of the defense and will have the intuition similar to manning and brady, brady had patten, brown and wiggins as his three guys in 01, in his 3rd year they added branch and he broke out, expect to see that from edwards with parrish and hardy being involved in a hight tempo passing attack similar to what brady was like his firt 3 years or so.

i wanted JP to be that guy soo bad, it was painful. I still think he could be, with the new system and better players that we have now. But that ship has sailed and i hope he goes to the NFC next year and has a great career, maybe even having a showdown with trent in the superbowl(that would be awsome).

Just like i was behind JP, i'm now on the Trent bandwagon and i prey that he makes the leap from yr1 to yr2. Without a franchise QB, you cant win in this league.

  7. Talk about a contradiction.

    You state the following:

And then you follow up with this:

You do realize Walsh made those comments about Edwards well before Edwards stepped on the football field as a pro?

So how in the world can you take the opinion of someone regarding a college QB and treat that opinion like it came from an "expert", when by your very own admission such an "expert" does not exist?

ok let me slow this down for ya...i take his opinion, not because hes an expert, but because he is a HOF coach who coached 2 HOF qb's, durrr.... like i said and i'll say again, he may be wrong, because hes no expert.

If you think that being a QB, and having bill walsh talk highly of your skills is the same as having mel kiper toot your horn,

then i dont know what to tell ya

  8. But he wasn't the coordinator. As we've previously discussed, some coaches are better off when they have one part of the team to concentrate on, rather than trying to run the whole show. I believe GW has proven he's on that list.

Did they need the benefit of good field position that day? Before Angelo Crowell recovered Jason Campbell's fumble late in the third quarter, the Bills, playing against a defense rocked by Sean Taylor's murder, had managed three punts, a lost fumble, and a single field goal. I think it's safe to say that Campbell's turnovers -- not any failure on the part of the defense -- cost Washington that game.

ok i give up..."not any failure on the part of the defense" ...were they not on the field (with greggy calling the shots), on the final drive...and with your home field adv you cant stop a rookie qb and his 31st ranked offense...i respect you think he is a great def cord, i just see it differently...no biggie

  9. Psst ... Williams never served as DC here. And I forget; did the Redskins D allow a touchdown in that game last year? Bills needed drive starts at the Washington 39 and 24 (via turnovers) to get back into the game.

Gregggg was an arrogant tool as a head coach, and I've heard nothing good about him from his former players here. That said, the Redskins were a playoff team in 2005 and 2007, and not because of a prolific offense.

did they NEED the drive starts? no one will ever know that...were you frightened of the washington def going into that game?....he could not stop a rookie qb and back up rb from beating him in his house!! if people think he is a great cord, then i guess you could come up with some really good stats to go along with that...but i think hes was over hyped and hes fast losing his lustre...i respect your view and that of all others

not to be nit picky but we all know it was gregs famed defense he brought with him,he bragged it up at his opening press conf.

  10. So, based on what you have seen, was Walsh more right or wrong on evaluating QBs?

One of the reasons I am so cynical is because of statements like that.

Walsh was a good/great coach, no doubt.

And because he won three SB (with a QB he did not originally like), Walsh is now considered a "master QB evaluator"

But by Walsh's own actions and statements, he was no "expert" when it came to analyzing and evaluating a college QB for the pros.

In fact, he was more wrong than right in his evaluations.

I find it odd you think my view of Edwards is somehow tied to what I think of Walsh's opinion.

You could not be further from the truth. I just do not put a lot of weight into somebody's opinion when history has shown they are more wrong than right.

i dont get the point ....walsh coached 2 of the greatest qb's of all time, there is not a "expert" alive when it comes to evaluating a college qb, brady and montana woulda went 1st overall.

Is walsh gonna be right in his assesment of edwards? i dont think he said he would be a HOFer.

So if one of the greatest coaches of all time(who coached 2 HOF qb's) says edwards is a smart kid who gets it, im gonna take his word for it until proven wrong(which may happen)

  11. wow i never knew gregg was so beloved in these parts....never seen this type of support when he was here lol

remind me to never overstate to get my point across...geezz

is anybody really gonna argue that the washington redskins or the bills def instilled fear in anyone while gregg was the cords...i'll give him the titans def a couple of different years, they were a little scary when kearse was on fire , but in no way was i thinking "oh no, the redskins def" when we went in there last year. In fact we won that game in gregs house with a rookie qb and back up rb.

all im saying is he is not a great def cord....hes had some statistical good fortune, but his defenses dont scare anybody.

  12. Jim Johnson and Monte Kiffin have been on the short list of hc's for years, neither of which had any desire to be a hc. There was rumors last year, Lane Kiffin was trying to get his dad, to be the dc out in Oakland, AL Davis wanted to keep the guy they had, and overruled the younger Kiffin. Some people just have cushy jobs, and some like where they're at. Monte re-signed with the bucs. Jim Johnson has a good thing with the eagles attacking defense. There's no reason for him to leave, and he's 67 probably doesn't want to be a hc. There's also guys like Dick LeBeau, who built a legacy for themselves. Tried to be a hc. Failed and stayed with what he does best. Losing LeBeau when we had him, and not giving him the dc job, was as bad of a mistake of the Donahoe regime, as not re-signing Pat Williams.

so what your sayin is greg has decided to take his awsome defensive systems elsewhere even though ownership was begging him to stay with his top 5 defenses..

at best he is in the 2nd level of def cords in this league, and im not even sure about that...i for one am glad hes loooong gone

  13. Yeah, cause you know people who consistently field defenses in the top 5 in the league need to get canned STAT.

if hes sooo good, why is he always on the move from team to team?

unlike def cords who actually are great (jim johnson, monti kiffin) teams tend to want to keep those guys

  14. Thanks for the info. I would hae to presume The Chin is watching teams very closely now as he is surely thinking about where he might be interested in landing next season. Not saying he would be the Bills coach, but he has tobe paying attention to who is up and coming everywhere to make a choice.

yeah i was thinking the same thing...then i remembered the bills owner refuses to pay for a proven coach, so even though cowher may like our team, our owner like his $ more

  15. watching nfl network last night and i caught adam shefter asking cowher which team would be the 2008 surprise....without hesitation, he said the bills. he then went on to say edwards has established himself and that marhawn is a special back, then added that the defense will be tough.

i know weve heard these things before from other talking heads, but coming from cowher it really made me jump to edge of my seat, i loved it. bring on the chithawks!!
