  1. Playing with a rookie QB and RB, on a line in its first year together... I thought he was very good. I mean Lynch had over 1100 yrds in just 13 games, and the line gave up the least amount of sacks in club history.

With Peters, year 2 for them will be even better. The line as a whole will be considered one of the better units in the NFL.

If there is a weak link, its Fowler...no question. With a quality center, this line could be awsome.

  2. Can you imagine for a moment, if Youboty comes into his own this year...becoming the player they hoped for with a 3rd round pick. Our secondary may become the deepest in the NFL, and with Stroud and Poz allowing us to hopefully stop the run, making teams have to throw the ball....wait, stop now, forget it. i'm just getting all giddy with the possbilities.

    Im getting super pumped!!!

  3. That "article" was an op-ed piece, and it was meant to be part of a point-counterpoint. Interesting that only one side was referenced by the thread starter. Here's the opposing take: http://buf.scout.com/2/772622.html

And no, since Buffalo Football Report is a pay-to-play Scout.com site, most of Tyler's stuff doesn't get linked here. That's a shame, because I like his work -- been reading him ever since he started stringing games for the Times Herald in high school.

i think this is the point being missied by most...2 sides to a hold out. People whom want to believe Peters is in the wrong, can back it up with solids points, as can those who support the actions taken by Peters to get a pay raise.

Its just business, looks like the bills are gonna hold firm, which is thier right to do so. Peters will show up this week and play out the season at a pro bowl level, and get paid next year. I wish Peters had decided to come to camp, but i also wish the bills had given him a new deal already. Not because i care about a millionare athlete who could use 20 more million, or an owner who could save himself some $ this year.

I just want one of the best LT's in the league, protecting my 2nd yr QB's blind side now.

    because im a fan.

  4. Quite the drama queen there, aren't you Mick? "Have the stones to accept the reality of my position...?" What are you, twelve? Ride the short bus? Yeah, I got the stones.

Obviously you've read everything I've posted on this matter; in fact, one of your prior rants I think you actually spent the time to dig up every one of my posts referring to Peters/Parker in unflattering terms, so which part of I DON'T GIVE A FLYING !@#$ ABOUT JASON PETERS do you not understand? It's a fairly straightforward, almost entirely monosyllabic construct, but tell me exactly which word is causing you the most difficulty, and I'll help you with the definition.

After the crap this bum pulled - how he won't honor his current contract, how is word is worthless, how he let down his teammates, coaches, the fans, and the organization that took a chance on an undrafted, slow witted TE, recognized his raw ability enough to try him at different positions, and developed him into a top OT - you think ANYONE cares at all that he's so unhappy with the last big raise that he wants another one right now?

There's a few hundred guys around the league that are gonna get cut today after working their asses off in July and August; guys who played their hearts out and gave their all just for the opportunity to try and make an NFL roster. And you want to see some sympathy for poor Jason Peters? Are you !@#$ing insane? You want my plan for Peter to follow to get paid what he's worth? Well, right now, he's sitting on his ass while his teammates are working their asses off, so he's worth NOTHING, but since you asked...

    4. Peters, you idiot, you've done so much freakin' damage to your image and your relationship with the fans, teammates, coaches, and front office, that even if the team was inclined to explore a giving you a nice big new contract, providing you're not a useless gimp after the groin tear/hernia operation, you are now gonna have to play out your cleats, like a man possessed, to show management that you deserve any consideration at all. BTW, 9-Wonderlic, you ARE aware that it's the fans, players, and coaches that vote players into the Pro Bowl, right? How many votes you counting on from Bills fans, players and coaches? Good luck.

    5. You want money, Jason? Obviously food is more important to you than football, Lard Ass, so when your done licking the barbecue off your fingers, turn the TV off, get off the couch, and get your fat, stupid, lazy, overweight, outa shape ass to practice. You owe the Bills a cool $half-mil$ in fines, so you should start seeing some scratch around October or so.

Should I keep going? You need me to post steps 6 and 7, or do you get the picture?

nice little battle you two have going on here...i agree with alot of what you say, i can really feel your anger here. Its a business, both sides try to gain as much as they can, i want him here because im a bills fan and he makes our team better.

I dont know why you seem to be taking his holdout so personal, my first choice would be the front office give him a giant deal and keep him here for a long time. But if not, then im hoping and i believe Peters will come in this week and play for an even bigger payday next year. Its just business, there no loyalty from the players or the owners, just the way it is.

  5. i believe and i hope that he shows this week. He will make the case as a top 3 LT this year with his play and in the offseason the bills will make him the highest paid LT in the league. I think with the holdout this year, it sets him up for the big payday nextyear.

I believe that was the plan all along on Parkers behalf. If Peters had reported this offseason without a peep and played, he may have had to have this holdout next year(2 yrs remaining). Thus, in Parkers mind...they maybe gain a year or at the very least, gain an easier negotiation next offseason.

I dont blame Peters for trying to make the most $ he can as soon as he can, or the bills for wanting to save as much $ for as long as they can.

I just want Peters here now, and i believe he needs to be here for our QB to reach his potential and our offense to reach its potential.

  6. I think (hope?) he's flat-out wrong about Ellis, based on his competition for that fourth DE spot. But Corner? I believe he's made the team, but if they decide to keep both James and Youboty ...

I also think there's no way in hell they can sneak Corner onto the practice squad if they do release him. Someone -- Cleveland, perhaps, which was desperate enough to trade for bust Travis Daniels -- would take a shot on him.

100% agreed...especially with not being able to sneak Corner onto the squad

  7. I was amazed too after reading that article....WHo ever puts their 4th and 3rd rounder especially when these guys can contribute (at least Reggie Corner) in the practice squad....

They guys have really gone nuts......Practice squad is usually reserved for your 7th rounders and UDFA......

i agree...and i thought Eliis made some plays and looked pretty good for a guy just getting his feet wet.

  8. The Fins have given up just 24 points in the last three pre-season games and are starting to have fun with their defense. I posted about them being a team on the rise and promptly got flamed for it. Did anyone noticed how they have been crushing opponents' pockets (5 sacks vs KC and 5 sacks again in Thursday's night game against the Saints)? They have a no name front seven, some newcomers, some old timers but they are starting to buy into their new system and having a ball with it. They only gave up 99 yards against the Saints that featured many back-ups.

They were doing "The Flywheel" all night long. That's what they do after they sack the QB or make a big play on defense. After the play that's when they get low to the ground and put their hands together and put them them in a circular motion to mimic cranking an old car. It was inspired by former Syracuse coach Paul Pasqualoni who is now the Dolphins' DC. It's suppose to represent what a flywheel does for a car. The flywheel is a rotating disc on a car that relies on momentumto pick up speed. "When you first start cranking the wheel, it's hard," LB Channing Crowder said. "But when you get the momentum going, and you get oil moving, it starts going much smoother."

It has been impressive so far how they have been dismantling offensive pockets with their DL. This makes me wonder all the more why we didn't make Marcus Stroud type players more of a priority before this last off season. I believe that the AFC East will be the dominate division once again in the very near future based on what is presently going on in it. I just hope that Buffalo can be at the top of it because these other teams (Jets and Miami) are sure picking up steam.

i think if things go thier way, they could win 4-7 games this year...and that would be an amazing one year turn around

  9. Let me slow it down for you, since you are unable to grasp the concepts of comprehension, analyzing and facts.

If you had bother to read the whole thread, you would have learned what the HOF SB winning genius of a coach named Walsh felt about the following QBs:

He originally did not like Joe Montana, and in fact preferred Fuller and Dils over Joe.

He liked Rick Mirer, Joey Harrington, David Carr, and Steve Young.

He liked Jake Plummer so much he actually referred to Plummer as the next Joe Montana, including winning multiple SB.

Walsh was originally wrong about Joe Montana.

Walsh was correct about Steve Young.

Walsh was wrong about Rick Mirer.

Walsh was wrong about Joey Harrington.

Walsh was wrong about David Carr.

Walsh was wrong about Jake Plummer.

That makes Walsh's record 1 out of 6, or about 16%. This is the record of the guy whose opinion you value.

If you cannot see that the facts say Walsh's opinion regarding QB's is about as valid as Kipers, then I do not what to tell you.

Here a little factoid to chew on: If the 49ers did not trade for OJ Simpson, Walsh and company would still have had their first round pick. Walsh would have grabbed Steve Fuller instead of Montana. And 25+ years later, nobody would gave a crap what Walsh said about a QB.

lol dude....your right, Bill Walsh had no idea what he was talking about(sarcasm),

alot of people were wrong on those guys and will be wrong on alot more...whats your point, i think we both agreed your gonna miss more then hit with qb's. the entire league was wrong on Montana.

am i really trying to convince someone on a message board that Bill Walsh was one of the greatest offensive minds in football...thats it for me,im not coming back to this thread, i wont be sucked in, i think your playing a joke on me or something...right? lol

  10. will edwards be the next great qb in buffalo, yes, he has the uncanny ability to b 3 steps ahead of the defense and will have the intuition similar to manning and brady, brady had patten, brown and wiggins as his three guys in 01, in his 3rd year they added branch and he broke out, expect to see that from edwards with parrish and hardy being involved in a hight tempo passing attack similar to what brady was like his firt 3 years or so.

i wanted JP to be that guy soo bad, it was painful. I still think he could be, with the new system and better players that we have now. But that ship has sailed and i hope he goes to the NFC next year and has a great career, maybe even having a showdown with trent in the superbowl(that would be awsome).

Just like i was behind JP, i'm now on the Trent bandwagon and i prey that he makes the leap from yr1 to yr2. Without a franchise QB, you cant win in this league.

  11. Talk about a contradiction.

    You state the following:

And then you follow up with this:

You do realize Walsh made those comments about Edwards well before Edwards stepped on the football field as a pro?

So how in the world can you take the opinion of someone regarding a college QB and treat that opinion like it came from an "expert", when by your very own admission such an "expert" does not exist?

ok let me slow this down for ya...i take his opinion, not because hes an expert, but because he is a HOF coach who coached 2 HOF qb's, durrr.... like i said and i'll say again, he may be wrong, because hes no expert.

If you think that being a QB, and having bill walsh talk highly of your skills is the same as having mel kiper toot your horn,

then i dont know what to tell ya

  12. But he wasn't the coordinator. As we've previously discussed, some coaches are better off when they have one part of the team to concentrate on, rather than trying to run the whole show. I believe GW has proven he's on that list.

Did they need the benefit of good field position that day? Before Angelo Crowell recovered Jason Campbell's fumble late in the third quarter, the Bills, playing against a defense rocked by Sean Taylor's murder, had managed three punts, a lost fumble, and a single field goal. I think it's safe to say that Campbell's turnovers -- not any failure on the part of the defense -- cost Washington that game.

ok i give up..."not any failure on the part of the defense" ...were they not on the field (with greggy calling the shots), on the final drive...and with your home field adv you cant stop a rookie qb and his 31st ranked offense...i respect you think he is a great def cord, i just see it differently...no biggie

  13. Psst ... Williams never served as DC here. And I forget; did the Redskins D allow a touchdown in that game last year? Bills needed drive starts at the Washington 39 and 24 (via turnovers) to get back into the game.

Gregggg was an arrogant tool as a head coach, and I've heard nothing good about him from his former players here. That said, the Redskins were a playoff team in 2005 and 2007, and not because of a prolific offense.

did they NEED the drive starts? no one will ever know that...were you frightened of the washington def going into that game?....he could not stop a rookie qb and back up rb from beating him in his house!! if people think he is a great cord, then i guess you could come up with some really good stats to go along with that...but i think hes was over hyped and hes fast losing his lustre...i respect your view and that of all others

not to be nit picky but we all know it was gregs famed defense he brought with him,he bragged it up at his opening press conf.

  14. So, based on what you have seen, was Walsh more right or wrong on evaluating QBs?

One of the reasons I am so cynical is because of statements like that.

Walsh was a good/great coach, no doubt.

And because he won three SB (with a QB he did not originally like), Walsh is now considered a "master QB evaluator"

But by Walsh's own actions and statements, he was no "expert" when it came to analyzing and evaluating a college QB for the pros.

In fact, he was more wrong than right in his evaluations.

I find it odd you think my view of Edwards is somehow tied to what I think of Walsh's opinion.

You could not be further from the truth. I just do not put a lot of weight into somebody's opinion when history has shown they are more wrong than right.

i dont get the point ....walsh coached 2 of the greatest qb's of all time, there is not a "expert" alive when it comes to evaluating a college qb, brady and montana woulda went 1st overall.

Is walsh gonna be right in his assesment of edwards? i dont think he said he would be a HOFer.

So if one of the greatest coaches of all time(who coached 2 HOF qb's) says edwards is a smart kid who gets it, im gonna take his word for it until proven wrong(which may happen)

  15. wow i never knew gregg was so beloved in these parts....never seen this type of support when he was here lol

remind me to never overstate to get my point across...geezz

is anybody really gonna argue that the washington redskins or the bills def instilled fear in anyone while gregg was the cords...i'll give him the titans def a couple of different years, they were a little scary when kearse was on fire , but in no way was i thinking "oh no, the redskins def" when we went in there last year. In fact we won that game in gregs house with a rookie qb and back up rb.

all im saying is he is not a great def cord....hes had some statistical good fortune, but his defenses dont scare anybody.
