No surprises on these invites. I don't like Ryan, but there's no way he'll fall any further than the Ravens at number eight. Mind you, nobody thought Quinn would fall like that last year.

Malcolm Kelly to workout again Sunday.

LOL. Nice. He's still in the top five of the WRs. -
Malcolm Kelly's workout has me convinced...
lets_go_bills replied to elegantelliotoffen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thing is, with his natural athletic ability and talent it seems some good coaching and a great work ethic could turn him into a star. He's super raw, but super talented. He did play against weak competition, but he was great at the combine and lit up the Senior Bowl, where he earned defensive MVP honours. He's high risk/high reward. But I think he'll be a solid starter and perhaps even a pro bowler come his third or fourth year. -

Weird. Why wouldn't you let scouts watch? This guy is destined to be a second round pick. -
Not bad. I could get on board with this mock. I really like Cason, especially at pick number 41. But I would wanna go TE in round three and the FB has to be Owen Schmitt.

It's already gone around the Kelly tanked in his 40 (he ran a 4.68 and 4.75), and acted like a baby afterwards. But here are some links: http://www.wgrz.com/sports/pro_football/Bi...x?storyid=57002 http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/ar...-ou-his-pr.html http://www.tulsaworld.com/sports/article.a...9_2__NORMA27460 His 40 times hurt him, but I think his immaturity afterwards (shirting blame, pouting, arguing with his coach, complaining, throwing shoes) hurt him more. Shows poor character too. He just fell to the second round. If he works out again privately for teams, he may stand a chance at redemption, but it appears to be too late.

I could give a crap about the draft

The draft is the only football-related thing that occurs in the offseason, it's all we have! Plus it shapes/lays the foundation for the future of our franchise. -
Ralph Wilson replaced as #1 cheapskate
lets_go_bills replied to SABURZFAN's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can't blame anybody/any team for not wanting to shell out the big bucks to a rookie. They haven't proved anything, and more often than not first rounders bust/don't live up to the hype/potential. Unproven rookies getting $30 million in guarantees. That's pure insanity. Not that it will happen, but the next CBA should drastically reduce the money these rookies get. And take that money and increase the salaries of the good, proven, stars. For example: I hate the Browns, but I feel bad for them because they shelled out TONS of cash to top pick guys like Tim Couch and Courtney Brown who were absolutle busts. It's funny how it works, a player becomes great and cries for a new contract, and the teams have to pay up, but when a guy busts he doesn't give any money back. It's the furthest thing from a two-way street. It's madness! -
Congradulations Mr. Kelly, you are now officially a second round pick. Bad 40, making excuses, transferring blame... all bad signs... shows immaturity, poor character. This by no means will translate into a bad career, but he just cost himself a couple million dollars. This begs the question, do the Bills go CB in the first and grab Kelly in the second? Or go Devin Thomas in the first and CB in the second?
-
Agreed. Keep him outta the AFC East. He's gonna be good. With those measurables and having played at an elite program at Ohio State it'll be surprising if he doesn't become a 10 sack/year guy rushing from the OLB spot in a 3-4. Teams are thinking he's the next Shawne Merriman or Terrell Suggs.

ndirsh197, It was Labatt's Blue, not Molson. Get the facts straight, lol. -
Malcolm Kelly on Sirius this morning
lets_go_bills replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He would be considered a reach if we took him at 11, so Cincy taking him at nine would seem crazy. This can only lead to the increased speculation that CJ may be on the move. Cincy already has two 1000-yard receivers. They'd be dumb to pass on Ellis too, he's a perfect fit for their D, their O is not the problem. This means Ellis probably falls right into our laps and we'd be happy to take him. -
Does a WR help us stop Tom Brady?

Will an inept offence help us score points to try and match the most prolific offence in NFL history? No -
I think we are in a good position here because we can go in many different directions with this pick, and easily justify the selection. With that said here are eight players, covering five positions, that I could see us drafting. 1. Malcolm Kelly WR, Oklahoma. Draft status is contigent April 9 workout. Are his knees/legs ok? A big guy with great hands. Talented guy who I think is the best fit for us. 2. Devin Thomas WR, Michigan State. One year wonder has seen his stock rise. Highest upside of all the WRs. Cold weather acclimated. A risky pick, but could pay off. 3. Limas Sweed WR, Texas. Injury to wrist is a concern but should be fine. Good size and ability. I just don't see him as the right fit. Still, would be a good pick. 4. Dominique Rogers-Cromartie CB, Tennessee State. Small school status is a concern, but he was awesome at the Senior Bowl and Combine. Best athlete at CB position in draft. 5. Leodis McKelvin CB, Troy. Has starter written all over him. Also didn't play against top level competition. Great athlete. Doesn't necessarily fit our Cover 2 D. A gambler. 6. Sedrink Ellis DT, USC. Top five talent, period. Won't make it past Cincy, but if he does may be too tempting for Bills to pass up. 7. Derrick Harvey DE, Florida. Great pass rusher. Spotty production, but killed Troy Smith in the big game. Fills a need. Pass rush is needed to stop division rival Patriots. 8. Keith Rivers OLB, USC. Top OLB in the draft. LB not as much of a need since Mitchell was signed. Great fit for our D. Would make our LB corps an elite unit.

*sigh* Kiper's crazy. What really chaps my ass is that his material is in the part of ESPN that you gotta pay to read! -

Great find/post bro. Kiper's not as good at this as he used to be IMO. 1. I think we would take Ellis if he falls to us. Great value there too. But Cincy won't pass on a talent like this, he's made for their D, which is a terrible D. With the WR depth they'll wait until round two or three to go WR. Unless of course CJ is traded, which I doubt will happen. 2. I agree, Harvey has some spotty production, but he's a great pass rusher which is the key to stopping the Pats. He had a monster game when Florida destroyed Ohio State in the BCS Championship Game. Our pash rush was bad, but Stroud's precence along with an improving McCargo should make our sack numbers go up. 3. If McKelvin is around come pick 11, I say we take a long hard look at him. But the Bills may be satisfied with McGee on one side and letting Greer, Yobouty, and James duel it out in camp for the other spot. Ultimately I think WR is still the way to go. -
NFL Rumor from Todd McShay
lets_go_bills replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting rumour. But with TJ and CJ (for now) still in the fold WR isn't a pressing need. Especially considering how bad their D is. Passing on Ellis would be dumb of them, and if they did, we would take him. If they are planning on dealing CJ then WR becomes a major priority for them, otherwise, I don't see it. But them sending scouts to his workout means something. Maybe they think he could fall to round two if he bombs the workout and they would take him there. Who knows. -
Personally I still like Malcolm Kelly, but the jury is still out until April 9. It's not like Thomas was a bust who suddenly got hot, he only got his chance last year and did great. I think he should of went back for his senior year and if he repeated that success could be a top ten pick next year. I like Sweed too. I'm just agreeing with some draft people who say he has the most upside because he is coming off a great year and is still realizing his potential.
