  1. From what I've seen they love Moreno and considering the tread (or lack there of) on Westbrook's tires I think they are going to go RB.

Yeah, they'll probably take Moreno over Pettigrew, so what the TG trade means is, do not pick Pettigrew at #11. You can get him at #28 if you really want him. Meanwhile, guys like Oher or Ayers will no be there at 28.

  2. I voted "Other". I figure it will be Ayers, but of course I have no real idea. This is fun, four days to the draft and NO-ONE knows what they will do, inclding them. Over 20 % who have voted picked "Other".

It is the kind of year when last minute twists will determine the pick, not mater what they say afterwards ("We got our guy").

Other than Aaron Curry (whom I would pick, but won't be there), I don't really care who they pick because nobody knows which one will work out best.

I like this, though seems unlikely Smith wuld drop to 11 or Ayers to 28. On other hand, Oher should be there at 11 and Connor Barwin at 28. I'd like that combo too. Then a tight end in the 2nd.

  4. I really think Ayers is going to be the pick. He just seems like a solid player which I think honestly is more important right now than finding someone who can possibly rush the passer. The DL is a mess. It doesn't need a situational pass rusher right now(I know that we have a tough time bringing pressure but that's because our ends are absolute garbage all together). It needs a 3-down stud who can play in all situations. Ayers reminds me of a player that we passed on back in the '04 draft: Will Smith.

Yep. Ev Brown seems too small to be a DE, more of 3-4 OLB to me. Glad there is one player emerging as our logical choice at 11. He should also be there for the Bill;s to take, nlike, say, Curry, who would be great but long gone.

  5. Dante Whitner has done nothing to impress me so far as a Bill. I thought Ko Simpson clearly outplayed him as Rookies. I wonder if that ankle injury slowed him way down. And now the man gets pinched. Not worth the 8th pick as I see it.

Can't cover, tackle, run, make decisions....a bust.

  6. Everett Brown will be a better end than Orapko. That's how I see it.

I think Orapko will be a decent End in this league, not a big sack guy. Remember, most of his sacks were from manhandling his opponents, and he won't be able to do that with as much ease in the NFL. Where as Brown, has explosiveness off the edge and more polished passrushing moves than any other player coming out of this year's draft.

So, I hope, if he is available, that the Bills draft Brown.

6' 1 1/2" is too short to be a DE in the NFl. Any other ideas?

  7. Well, I assume you don't mean he is like players before Jesus' mother, Mary (AKA The Madonna). So, I assume you are referring to the pop singer, "Madonna".

Are you suggesting he is an old-school player, much like those who played before Madonna became popular, in the early 80's? Or, are you suggesting he is small, and slow, like many players before Madonna was born, in 1958?

    <_<

    I'm such a prima donna.

  8. Nice work H2o. I think the qb's might also drop a little bit but we'll have to see.

Good draft, but I doubt if Tampa would move up to us when no-one below us would take a QB until the Jets at 17, which means they could make the deal wth San Diego at 16 and give up less in return.

Since I this the scenario as unlikely, who do you think they'll pick at 11? I suspect Maybin as third-down left DE.

Another question: you don't have Barwin in the first round, but I think his combine might tempt a lot of teams, including the Bills, and if the Tampa trade worked out, that might be the pick instead of a DT.

  9. Another guy who we may not be able to get because of our draft position. 11 seems too high for him but he wont be around in the second. The more I think about it, I am totally cool with reaching for the best DL in rd 1, then targeting the top c/te's in rds 2 and 3. Nic Harris in round 4 would be icing on the cake.

This guy looks good at DE, but you're right. It would be 'reaching" to take him at 11, but we may be wise to do it. He'll be a great OLB or DE for somebody behind us if we pass.

  10. Shawn Nelson ran a 4.53

Anyone know much about Nelson. he looks impressive. We need a TE who is a receiving threat, not a blocking stud.

Pettigrew doesn't look like a #11 pick to me. Not saying any of them do, but I'd be interested in Nelson later. Gronkowski also looks interesting.

  11. Why haven't we tagged Greer? Simple, he's not worth it.

He isn't worth it, eh? Like we have a lot of better players.

Here's what a real team does to keep valuable players around: Please read it

PITTSBURGH (AP)—Offensive tackle Max Starks was designated as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ franchise player on Thursday, the second successive year they have retained the two-time Super Bowl starter by placing a tag on him.

Starks made $6.9 million last year as a transition player, although he didn’t begin the season as a starter. He ended up starting 11 games at left tackle after Marvel Smith was injured.

“We were happy we had Max Starks available to us when he was needed,” Steelers director of football operations Kevin Colbert said. “We were fortunate that he was still here because he gave us an experienced guy who had played as a starter in the playoffs and in the Super Bowl.”

Starks was the Steelers’ right tackle when they won the Super Bowl during the 2005 season.

By being designated as a franchise player, Starks will make $15.35 million over the 2008 and 2009 seasons, unless he agrees to a long-term deal— considerable money for Pittsburgh to pay a player who didn’t make their lineup at the start of last season.

Starks must make $8.451 million in 2009, the average of the NFL’s top five offensive linemen last season.

Another team could sign Starks because he is designated as non-exclusive, but that team would owe the Steelers a pair of first-round draft picks.

  12. It's sad what this team has come to. I know Brown works for the team and can't trash everyone because the franchise has underachieved. But praising DJ for these comments is ridiculous. There's no way DJ has any respect from the fan base, at least not the knowledgeable ones.

    Jauron is one sad suckass.

  13. so what is stopping us from keeping Greer around? He's a good corner, maybe not worth a top ten price, but what the hell, for a year, give him some money and see how things work out. Maybe McKelvin will be great, maybe McGee will go downhll. Who knows? Every other team except Miami seems to be tagging somebody. Doesn't that make you think it might be a plan?

I like Jabari Greer and we have the cap room. Plus, there is nobody else worth franchising on this sad sack of a team.

Would it make too much sense for our braintrust to get off their asses?

  14. I just took a look at Mike mayocks updates rankings for position and Brown isn't listed in the top 5 for either DE or OLB. I wonder why he fell so far?

Mike watched him play. So did I, so I'm not surprised. He is an easily-handle tweener.

  15. and some would say the same about bringing in a QB that will not be content being a backup to a team who is not looking for a starter.

I like what Derek Anderson brings to the table, just not here in Buffalo, but I will say my confidence in TE has allot to do with my opinion.

Ok, I've read all the respones to my post (some of them very ignorant), but the bottom line seems to be, "don't bring in a capable"back-up, because itm ight cost us something and ratle Trent's chain". I say, piss on that. What do you propose if the Bills actually are in the playoff run and Edwards gets hurt, throw a Charley Batch out there?
