Furthermore, playing to the end teaches your team how to finish, a trait that is very important to BB's coaching philosophy. Such a philosophy seems to have caught on in New England as evidenced by the stats shown on TV last night ...... the last 2 seasons his team finished the 2nd half of the regular season without losing a game. 16-0. And, that trend is continuing this year as well as they are 3-0 the second half of this season.
-
What does that matter? The point is last night's game demonstrated to all who watched that it is possible to score points in bunches such that no one should never take a lead for granted in the NFL. BB knows this; he's a NFL historian for crying out loud. Maybe now, those haters who hate on him for such nonsense, will finally realize it as well.
-
Well, it seems that last night the Pats delivered the best possible response to the whole running up the score fisaco by scoring 35 points in 1 quarter of play against the Jets, including 21 points in just 53 seconds, proving that, in the NFL, anything can happen and that no lead is safe. Time for the haters to stop hating on BB for such nonsense.

Belichick's winning %, post spygate, has gone up 25 points. I highly doubt not having video of the opposition is negatively affecting his team's performance. Oh, and keep in mind that this improved winning % comes during the timeframe that Belichick tore down his dynasty team and re-built it back to championship calibre, compiling win totals of 11-10-14-13 games since their last dynasty SB loss in '07. Of note. Only 5 players on last years Pats SB team were with the team in '07. -

I think the point is that not having the tapes of opposing defense hasn't hurt the Pats offense any. Unless, of course, the conspiracy theory now is that the Pats are still getting the defensive signals, only they are now stealing them from a farther distance, like everyone else does. -

Of course, it's all fixed. Why even bother to watch? -

Well, it's plainly obvious that since the league put an end to the Pats stealing the opposing defense's signals, Brady and company have struggled mightily when it comes to scoring points. -
Some coaches like to keep their guys in longer than others. Harbaugh did so just last week when the Ravens pasted 55 on the Raiders. Heck, he even faked a FG when up big late in that game! And, Sean Payton does it all of the time. Remember the Saints scoring 60+ on the helpless Colts last year? And Dungy and Manning ran the score up all of the time in their heyday. Maybe they all believe that it's up to the other team to lineup and stop us ..... right down to the final seconds?
-
They'll remember what? That BB left his starters in to finish the ballgame? Do you think the players would feel better, or less embarrassed, if BB took out all of his starters because he felt they were so much better than the opposing defense that, by not trying anymore, he made the game more equal? If anything, that would piss off an opposing team more than anything. I really don't get the displeasure when a teams offense plays all out until the end of ball games. Why should it be expected of the winning offense to stop trying? If they stop trying should the opposing defense not be expected to also not try? And, what about the winning team's defense! Should they stop trying too and just let the opposing offense score at will?
-
In that case, what is wrong with "running up the score"?
-
C'mon, let's be serious here shall we! When was the last time you saw a HC replace a player on the point after team?
-
It's Belichick's philosophy not mine. I might add it's Belichick's very successful philosophy. Look, I can't imagine a single HC in football ever takes a player out of the PAT lineup because he fears said player might get injured. For starters, getting injured on a PAT is such a fluke incident I can't imagine it even registers on their radar. Second, there are not enough roster spots on game day to allows for substitution. Being critical of Belichick in this instance is beyond silly. He is on the Patriots. That's the point being missed. Belichick's philosophy is that all players are key components to the cog. Even those on the PAT team.
-
Again, it's not Belichick's philosophy to replace starters on the FG unit. Heck, I can't imagine any HC would ...... if he had enough players available to even consider doing so. Chastising Belihchik for keeping Gronk in on the FG unit after the fact is silly.
-
That's not Belichick's philosophy though!
-
Since injuries are completely random, Belichick does not gameplan to them. He only worries about the things he can control. And that is the way it should be. Gronk is a part of the extra point team because extra points are important. Having a cohesive unit on extra points helps ensure that the unit doesn't end up losing a game because of a blocked extra point. Belichick has never made an exception to this and I doubt he ever will. Belichick's philosophy is "Football Players Play Football." That includes extra points. It's worked to the point of being a dynasty thus far for him so it's kinda silly to blame him for such a philosophy!

Tashard Choice: Spikes will 'get his'
Pneumonic replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am questioning your logic in purposely trying to injure Brady when he's not the guy who has done the dirty deed! What does Brady have to do with Spike's actions? I hope you aren't encouraging payback to innocent players just because they happen to be the other teams best player. That would set a very bad precedent for the league. Not to mention it's very juvenile. -

It's very odd that you would want anyone to purposely hurt Brady when it's Spikes that is the guilty party! -

Not sure what Choice saw but from what the replay showed ..... there was noothing wrong about the Spikes hit on FJ. It was a textbook hit. A fierce one mind you but nothing illegal. The Spikes hit on Fitz was illegal. -
The problem with tbis is the one aspect where the Pats defense is good is when it comes to rush defense. In fact, they are excel putting up some of the leagues best rush defense stats, inlcuding rush yards/attempt. They also don't give up big gainers along the ground; a league best 1 rush of 20+ yards given up by their rush defense. The stats show that the way to beat the Pats defense is not along the ground but, rather, through the air.

I would have called in sick the day I had to wear those ugly things.

Probably because the extent of spying dates back to the earliest days of the league. Knowing how OCD BB is when it comes to such things he probably had specific examples of teams doing the exact same thing (and other similar activity) from day 1. If so, Godell probably felt disclosing such info to the masses wasn't in the best interest of the league. -
Broken record with this team it seems. Every year this topic comes up ...... re-tread HC sucking causing everyone in here to wonder how long it will be before he's canned!
-
Fitz is like many QB's in this league ..... average. Maybe a tad below average because even average QB's can get their teams into the playoffs.
